Firefox self loads a particular web page from time to time. It is a page that I look at daily. Even if I close it, it will self load on a new page.

There is no pattern to this issue. The page comes from The Wall Street Journal.

this is total bullshit. so frustrated with this nonsense.

  • Particular web page won't print

Running Safari with latest MavericksĀ  update, one particular web page won't print on my ethernet connected HP laser printer (Laserjet P2015). The page is at bialetti.com ( Italian coffeemmaker machine co.). When I try to print the page, the printer job page says it's connected and ready to print but instead it sends the printer into a series of error lights starting with both paper jam and low ink then going to noi paper. After a minute or so it reboots itself and returns to a single green light indicating it's ready to print. The job screen then says "broken pipe". What confounds me is that any other web page will print with no problem. What could cause this?

I have tried the pdf route but with the same result. I can print a German eBay posting from Safari but not this Italian site. Another iMac with Mavericks on the same network has the same problem. Connecting to the printer over Wi-Fi or ethernet also refuses to print the page. I may contaqct Hp as the sequence of trouble lights that occur may give them a clue.

  • Is there any way to edit the standard Firefox context menu for displayed Web pages?

Is there any way to edit the standard Firefox context menu for displayed Web pages? I frequently want to save a picture appearing on a page. Sometimes I "slip" and hit "Send Image" when I want "Save Image As", and have to sit and wait for a default send-mail page to come up, then close it, fiddling with its "are you sure" dialogs. This is a painful way to handle a slip-up. I basically NEVER want to e-mail an element directly from a page. Is there any way I can just delete "Send Image" from the context menu?

You can remove entries in the context menu with code in the userChrome.css file

Some IDs are listed in this MozillaZine Knowledge Base article:

To find the ID of others you will have to use the DOM Inspector.

I just downloaded Firefox 6.0. The web page asked if I wanted to upgrade. What is the most recent version of Firefox and why can't I get it denoted in the propperties link? Also why is it not compatible with AVG Tool Bar?

Firefox 6.0 is the current version.
Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.

  • After installing Firefox 5, Hyperlinks on some web pages wont click open. Help?

After installing Firefox 5, Hyperlinks on some web pages wont click open. Usually non-text confirm type links. Like to enter an account.
One Example below. I can't click open the 'My Account' button at the top: http://www.boostmobile.com/
I also miss the Google toolbar. I used it frequently.
I am ready to revert to an older version of Firefox.

I did't have a problem clicking on the link. It is JavaScript perhaps you have JavaScript turned off Tools > Options > Content or perhaps NoScript extension.
'''The Google Toolbar is no longer supported by Google in Firefox 5 and up''', you may be able to get what you want from it for a limited time, the directions to install the Google Toolbar were posted before Google actually announced dropping support.

  • When I first startup firefox I automatically get a web page displayed that I cannot exit from. I move the firefox page to another workspace to get rid of it. How do I prevent this webpage from loading ?

web page automatically loads up each time and the exist bottom is disabled on the screen.

Maybe your problem is caused by that particular add-on?
I use the Print/Print Preview add-on and have never had that happen. <br />https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/printprint-preview/

  • Particular web page will not load in safari or firefox

when i try to load web site www.mapmyride.com, safari will not load the web page. I have tried other web sites and it works fine. It does not give any message to indicate that there's a problem. I can load the same web page on my iphone

Since both browsers can't load the page, do you have anti virus software installed? How about Little Snitch? And try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences - Security.
(I just tried in Safari 5.1.1. The page loaded as it should), so it's not the site.

  • Firefox 5 is displaying a web page differently from Firefox 4.

Certain pages at www.shairfare.com are misaligned in Firefox 5, but they work fine in Firefox 3 and 4. I can't figure out why this happens.
I had to create an override .css file to handle safari and Chrome, because of the differences in the way widths are computed when padding is used (some browsers include the padding in the width, some do not). It may be the case that Firefox 5 uses the same rendering engine as Chrome and Safari (does it?), in which case I could simply use the same override .css file when FF5 is in use. Could you tell me how to load a .css file ONLY when FF5 is in use?
    Thanks!
    Marc

go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset"
go to View Menu -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. If above suggestions don't work then
go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE any Unwanted/Suspicious Extension (add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable the Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • Using 6.0.2 just updated, Firefox has stopped responding to web page calls from other programs such as Thunderbird. How can I fix this?

running Windows 7, Firefox 6.0.2 and Thunderbird 3.0.2

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

  • I got of some cookies and now firefox can't open my web-mail from Medscape. I get "the page isn't redirecting properly" ..

This problem started right after I deleted lots of cookies, trying to avoid the ad people from getting too much information. My email is from pol.net (from Medscape). I made sure my Privacy settings accept cookies. The problem also occurs in Firefox Safe mode. I even restored the Firefox applications (I have a macBook Pro laptop) from my external hard drive using Time Machine from a backup I did 2 days before I deleted cookies -- NO change, even though checking to see what cookies are on the system appear to show that all the deleted cookies were restored !! My Medscape people CAN access my mail from Firefox---I can't from my bookmarks or URL window using Firefox. The rest of my bookmarks seem to be unaffected. I CAN access my mail from Safari. Please help.

Did you check the cookie exceptions ([http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox > Preferences] > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions") ?

I haven't figured out how to do this one yet:
Make sure that both items (Errors, Log) of the Net menu are enabled

It shows this list rather than what the web page actually looks like (which I can do in Safari and used to be able to do in Firefox. I have tried earlier releases of Firefox on this issue, but they all produce this same result.
Thanks for your patience. Sorry to be so dumb about it.

  • How can I make Firefox go back to same web page position

How can I set Firefox to go back to same web page position

Just wait till Firefox ends loading web page. Then it'll be automatically set in to position when you have been leaving web page

  • Firefox doesn't save the web page's title as themselves!

I want to save web pages, for example a link like below:
    http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap080406.html
in other browsers like Avant or Opera the web title saves as itself (for example for this link the web title save as "APOD_ 2008 April 6 - Wisps Surrounding the Horsehead Nebula" ) , but in Firefox the web title save as "ap080406" .
I appreciate if somebody help me that ,if I can save the web title's as themselves.

Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • After latest update a few minutes ago, Firefox won't open any web pages.

I was on a local web page run by a local server on my intranet. Firefox was not open. I opened it (the last time it worked successfully was a few hours ago). It did an update. After the update, it tried to open a Firefox web page - that failed. The local web page I was on would not open either. The web pages still work from Internet Explorer.

Can you start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> by holding down the Shift/Options key?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to reinstall Firefox.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
