Firefox Setup 7.0.exe won't open in XP-ProSP3; Why?

I have a fresh (reinstalled after formatting harddrive) XP-Pro installation with SP3. I started rebuilding my system after doing the system installations last night. I rebooted before running Setup 7.0. I have no other information but the error message that came up on the screen. It is:
Firefox Setup 7.0.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

That error is displayed when the download is corrupt. You should be able to redownload to fix this and if that doesn't work empty the cache of the program you are using to download Firefox with before trying to download again.

''Firefox Setup 7.0.exe is not a valid Win32 application.''
The message above is displayed immediately after I click "Run" in the window titled "Open File - Security Warning" which asks to "Run" or "Cancel".

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Hi:
As noted above, Firefox won't open a new window. I restarted machine without closing Firefox. Now, I get the Firefox menu bar but it won't open a window. I'm using mac, with OS X 10.6

Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically.<br />
You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85<br />
If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

  • Why won't new version 4.0 open on my desktop while version3.6.17 works fine. When I check the processes running on the computer the firefox is running but it won't open on the desktop(monitor)

When I updated firefox from version 3.6.16 to 4.0 the program would not open on the desktop after I double-clicked the short cut on the desk top. I checked the processes running on the computer and it showed firefox running. I followed the short cut to its file and clicked on the executable file with the same result(it won't open). I went back to the previous version and it works fine. What could be the problem?

    Hey djclark24,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the [[Firefox crashes]] Knowledge Base article.
You could also try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=create+a+new+profile&r=2&e=es&as=s#w_creating-a-profile Creating a new profile].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Certain pages won't open via Time Capsule - why?

First of all, my internet works fine via Time Capsule - except 2 internet pages I cannot open. I tried with my HP Laptop (not via Time Capsule), they work. So it's to the pages fault.
Does anybody have an idea why? Here are the pages
    www.united-fifa.de
    www.fifa-royale.de
Until yesterday they worked perfectly fine. But now "the site cannot be loaded" anymore.
    Thanks in advance for help.
Already tried: Reset Time Capsule, Delete Cookies, Reset Safari, Google Chrome/Firefox (exactly the same pages won't work there either), Restart Computer, Update Flash Player - nothing helped.

    1. Checked with ISP, everything is fine (Pages worked when i used my old HP laptop wirth the same ethernet cable...)
    2. broadband was always fine, even 2 days ago when all the homepages worked
    Maximale Internet-Geschwindigkeit:
    Download 75'000 kbit/s
    Upload 7'000 kbit/s
    3. It's a modem
    4. If I connect my old HP Laptop directly to the modem, all the sites work perfectly fine.
    5. Already reset to standard and i already use ethernet all the time (worked until 2 days ago) - nothing better.
    6. Switched to bridge mode but then i couldn't connect to the internet at all :/

  • CineBench won't open on MacBook Pro, why?

I've been wanting to test my MBP to see whether its just me, or whether graphics performance has decreased over the last month or so, so I downloaded CineBench to do that, but it won't open.  When I double-click it, the icon just looks like it's opening, but it never opens in the dock.  Any help appreciated!

I can confirm that during Leopard and into Snow Leopard the CPU performance has remained the same and the GPU increased performance from updated/optimized drivers using Cinebench.
I don't know why Cinebench is not opening for you, perhaps something is either wrong with the download or your computer.
Perhaps you need to do a backup of files and a total reinstall of OS X.

  • Installed iWork '09 on MacBook running OSX 10.7.2 and Pages won't open .doc files. Why?

I just recently installed iWork '09 on MacBook running OSX 10.7.2 and Pages won't open .doc files.
I did a search looking for a solution in the forums and here are the actions I've taken:
    1) Made sure the files were't read/write protected.
    2) Restarted the computer.
    3) Made sure all the program files were in the correct folder.
    4) Reinstalled the program.
Pages won't read .doc files that were originally Pages files and exported as .docs
It also won't read .doc files that were created using a relatively recent version of Office.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
    Please help.

If it's a doc created with the late Office 2011, it's not really surprising.
The importer embedded in iWork application was delivered in january 2009 and didn't evolve.
For this reason, it's unaware of new features delivered with Office 2011.
    Better try with LibreOffice.

  • Flash CS3 Exe won't open in Explorer/Firefox

I have created a project in Flash CS3 and exported it. I
"embedded" a link in an HTML document. When I click on the link in
Firefox I only get the option to download. When I click on it I get
the choice to open or save & when I choose "open" I get the
security warning "Windows has found a problem with the file." and
it is blocked. Further information below says that it does not have
    a valid digital signature.
The really funny thing is when I export it in Flash 8 it
    works perfectly.
Thanks in advance for your (anybody's ;-) support.

  • Starting Firefox Setup 4 10.exe German version it will unpack the file and then stop

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have downloaded Firefox Beta 4. When I doubleclick the setup.exe the window extracting shows up and runs till 100% are reached. After that nothing else happens. I have tried this with Beta 4 9 and Beta 4 10.

See [[Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows]]
You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window.
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.
You can delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset all actions or set that action in Tools > Options > Applications to 'Always Ask'.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions ("File handling in Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2" and "Reset Download Actions")

  • I downloaded Firefox 5 and now it won't open at all.

The other day, I was prompted to download Firefox 5. I did so, and now the program won't even open. I've tried restarting my computer as well as turning it off completely; no dice. I had clicked the "restart Firefox" option after it finished installing, but nothing happened.
