"firefox setup couldn't be downloaded"

I'm trying to reinstall but I keep getting "firefox setup couldn't be downloaded" doesn't say why. I just uninstalled, followed all of the directions but I can't reinstall. Can't download trouble shooter either.

Trying to download the latest Firefox on Windows 7 laptop but the Firefox setup page says it's downloading for 1hour now and shows no signs of finishing.

I am having the same problem and it seems to have just started (6/15/11). I have tried reloading the program several times and even the first release of the 4.o with no success. The same scenario also occurs when I click to open a new "tab" after the browser is already launched.

I have installed version 6.0.2. Everytime I start Firefox, a popup opens up titled 'opening firefox setup 6.0.2.exe' and offers to save the file. How do I stop this from popping up since I already have the version offered?

Probably you have accidentally added the new page as an addition to your home pages, or Firefox is having problems with your settings; it may help to close down with the '''Firefox button -> []Exit'''; rather than just quitting the application.

You may have a corrupted file. Right-click it, select Delete.

Run all Windows Updates. Install any Service Packs, Hardware updates, etc.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Firefox Setup 7.0.exe won't open in XP-ProSP3; Why?

I have a fresh (reinstalled after formatting harddrive) XP-Pro installation with SP3. I started rebuilding my system after doing the system installations last night. I rebooted before running Setup 7.0. I have no other information but the error message that came up on the screen. It is:
Firefox Setup 7.0.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

That error is displayed when the download is corrupt. You should be able to redownload to fix this and if that doesn't work empty the cache of the program you are using to download Firefox with before trying to download again.
