Firefox shows 1 add-on has been installed message every time I start after downgrade
After downgrading from FF4 to 3.6.16 I get a dialog every time I open FireFox telling me that 1 new add-on has been installed.
I assume it has something to do with the downgrade process since I haven't recently installed any add-ons.
How can I make this prompt go away?

The consensus seems to be re-install firefox. However, that didn't work for me.
What did work was this: If you look carefully (it's subtle) one of the add-ons will be a slightly different color in the dialog that comes up. That appears to be the problem one. Uninstall that add-on and re-install it. That worked for me.

every time i start my computer says update 3.6.12 ready to install. no matter how many time i have clicked install i get a message -- partail update not be applied. i all ready have 3.6.12 and cant get the thing to stop
It shouldn't be necessary to reboot the computer to complete an update.<br />
If a reboot is needed then that usually means that some (security) software is blocking files or you need elevated Administrator permissions.<br />
Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as ... : Administrator).
If that still causes the same problem then remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install. You need to download a fresh copy of the full version from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html -
Always get '1 new add-on has been installed' when launching FF
Hi, I think an incompletely installed add-on may be causing the 'Add-ons' window to always be displayed when FF launches.
- FEBE extensions backup warns about one it can't process, and hangs.
'Could not process extension/theme with GUID {DDC359D1-844A-42a7-9AA1-88A850A938A8}(133) -- skipped'
(Note this does not seem to be in the registry)
This seemed to occur after I updated to FF 3.6.16
How can I identify the culprit? Thanks!Eventually I came across a couple of posts where people have experienced this.
Creating a new profile corrects it, but you'd be wise to use the FEBE add-on to do a backup so you can rebuild your profile more easily.
Actually I had also tried FF4, then reverted.
It seems that installing FF4 can cause this problem, so some people may need to be beware of this. -

I rented a movie - it expired a month ago. iTunes still tries to download the movie every time i start iTunes. I get an error that it couldn't download the movie.
help....did both as yo usuggested and it goes away while iTunes is up and running which is better than before.
However, when I restart iTunes it just comes back.
there is something else that initiates the need for the download.

About two weeks ago I started getting this error message every time I started up Firefox: xmlNode.getElementsByTagName("id")[0].firstChild is null - 2.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the error continues. Then I did a System restore to several months ago, but the error continues. It doesn't happen with any other program.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it. If it has anything to do with the registry, I'll just have to let it be and switch to a different browser.Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:

Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery. -
My version of Lightroom 6 is still showing trial version after Serial Number has been Installed.

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

I have Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.13.
2 days ago I noticed that random-seeming words in web articles and blog posts were underlined and hot-linked. Today I checked Add-Ons and noticed something called Play Sushi Text Links. I never installed Play Sushi Text Links. I've never heard of it before.
If I click Uninstall, I'm prompted by Firefox to restart, but when the system restarts it shows that 1 add-0n has been activated. Play Sushi Text Links is still active. If I click Disable, Play Sushi Text Links is disabled for that browser session but is re-enabled when I start a new browser session.
How can I get rid of this Play Sushi Text Links? And how was it installed on my computer in the first place?

The ‘Welcome to Firefox’ page that shows up after an update is installed has been coming up when ever I start up Firefox since I did the last update to 18.0.1, several days ago. How do I get it to stop?
The problem turned out to be an error on the prefs.js file where one or two of the parameters with the current version number were not properly updated, so the browser always thought I was opening it for the first time on a new version. I edited the version number in those parameters to agree with the version number in the Help/About dropdown and the problem went away. It has been a while now and I do not recall which were the faulty parameters, but here are the ones in my current prefs.js file that refer to the browser version (currently 21.0 for me):

Installing the newest update for mavericks. Has been installing for over an hour. Don't know what to do. How long should it take?
I went to Apple Chat and they lead me through a power down and start up with Recovery Disc Utility (Hold down Apple and R keys when powering up).
Then was instructed to run Disk Recovery and it showed HD was error free. Then a reboot started up fine to desktop and showed update to 10.9.2 had been installed. I am guessing the internet connection my have been interrupted during the install.

Regarding Firefox 16.0.2. Every time I start up Firefox, especially after a period with my comp in standby mode, I am always asked to install several add-ons and extentions. Always the same ones, and always several. I install them, again and again, yet I am still always prompted to reinstall every time I start Firefox. I've always had this batch installed, but I don't know why it keeps telling me to reinstall them.
Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
