Firefox shows unfinished/discontinued download as finished when downloading from putlocker or shockshare filehosts

Hi, when I download files from putlocker.com or shockshare.com unusual and very irritating thing happens, this thing doesn't happen with other sites...
For instance if you want to download video file from one of this sites, and for example its size is 300MB when the download starts it is going to show that file size (of those 300MB) and the progress bar in the download menu, now then download is interrupted and stops (THIS HAPPENS ON THIS 2 SITES WHEN YOUR DOWNLOAD SPEED BECOMES TOO LOW, LOWER THAN 50 KB/s) by servers of this 2 sites it is not popping the usual "download is interrupted" dialog box, but instead FIREFOX MARKS THIS DOWNLOAD LIKE FINISHED AND IT CHANGES THE FILESIZE OF FINISHED DOWNLOAD FILE (which was 300MB) TO THE SIZE WHICH WAS IN THE MOMENT WHEN DOWNLOAD WAS INTERRUPTED (this can be from few Bytes to 299MB in this example).
This is a serious bug since Firefox should check if filesize of downloaded file is the same as it was when it was when it started to download!
Now imagine how irritating it is when you go and start working with your "DOWNLOADED" file and you notice that something is wrong and that the file which Firefox is saying to be completely downloaded is actually unfinished.
P.S.
Can someone please send me an email of someone who is working on Firefox's user interface and workflow in general, I would have some suggestions to offer.
P.P.S.
Since this is first time that I'm reporting a bug to Mozilla, I must say that the way man has to go trough to do a report like this is incredible and unbelievable unefficient and noneffective!
I am honestly amazed that the same people who created Firefox are responsible for making such bad reporting system like this. I would like to paste some images to show you to where the problems are, to bold and color the lettering to emphasize something, but you can't do anything here! Now imagine if I would like to give you few suggestions or something which requires graphical representation...
This reporting system is very poorly done, not everything is in fancy design of the webpage and using nice fonts, something has to go for functionality and purposeful ease of use.
Kind regards

Hi longlanger
Thank you for contacting support. This sounds very frustrating to be working on the downloaded file when it has not finished downloading. One way to tell that the file is not finished if it has '.part' at the end of it.
To make sure one of the plugins or add ons on the computer you are using is not affecting the downloading, please try to download a file in safe mode.

It is possible the the ''"downloads.sqlite''' file or the ""mimeTypes.rdf"" which is hidden 'is corrupt.
There are some troubleshooting steps that can be taken if deleting that file (this is almost the same as clearing the downloading history) that can be found here : [[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files]]

  • How do I stop click-thru "'Firefox' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"?

Every single time I launch Firefox 20 under Mac OS X 10.7.5 I get the click-thru warning message "'Firefox' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?". How do I stop this? There are internet postings and previous postings about solving this using Terminal commands for OS X 10.5.x & 10.6.x, but these commands do NOT work in 10.7.x or 10.8.x. This seems to be a Firefox ONLY issue, and solving it by globally turning off OS X security features as recommended before in a previously closed thread seems like a really BAD solution. Is there a "Firefox only" solution, or will I just have to stop using Firefox?

I had upgraded to Firefox 20 using the automatic update process, so the last time I'd downloaded a .dmg and manually installed Firefox was a long time ago. I trashed Firefox 20, downloaded a new .dmg and manually transferred to Applications folder and this persistent message ended. I assume if I'd ever launched from the open .dmg the same error message would result, so the fix offered was a solution even though the cause was something different since I only used the automatic update process and never manually handled Firefox .dmg downloads.

  • How can I STOP Firefox from automatically resuming a discontinued download, from a previous session, when I resume using Firefox?

Firefox automatically resumes ANY and ALL discontinued downloads whenever I get back online. Sometimes, a file is loading way too slowly, and I just want it to stop. Firefox NEVER permits this. The damn thing just starts reloading again, even days after I originally abandoned it.

The default is to pause a download and resume the download automatically the next time.
You can set the browser.download.manager.quitBehavior pref to 2 on the about:config page.
That will make Firefox ask for confirmation if you want to cancel the download when you close Firefox.
    See:

  • Firefox shows my outdated e-mail address when forwarding

I was trying to forward a petition to other people to sign, but Firefox shows an outdated e-mail address, which I can no longer access because I'm not paying for the service. I have tried overriding the old address with the new one, but it doesn't work. How do I change the default to my current e-mail address?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

I'm not techy enough to understand the solution.
    Here's the history:
-- I've used Compuserve for 15 years, but CS doesn't do broadband so I went shopping.
-- I tried Verizon for broadband, and contacted Compuserve to let them know, but also told them I wanted to retain my e-mail address. We set up new billing for that at a reduced rate so that I would not be charged full price for dial-up.
-- Verizon gave me a new e-mail address, which I believe was so I could connect, using dial-up.
-- After a week, I was so disgusted with Verizon that I canceled it, sent all the equipment they had sent back and went back to using Compuserve on dial-up.
-- I then signed up for broadband, using DSL.extreme, and that worked for me. I am still using it today.
-- The problem is, something -- and I'm not sure what -- is still recognizing the now-defunct Verizon e-mail address as my active e-mail address.
-- Even on DSL extreme, I have things set up so that my old Compuserve e-mail address is the active one.
SO -- the questions to editmeister is -- when you refer to a "service provider", to which one are you referring? Based on what I have told you, what would you suggest?
    All help would be appreciated.

  • Does anyone know how to remove an unfinished movie download from an ipod touch

I need some help with my ipod touch 4
I download the movie but it showed that i dont have enough space and it wont let me to remove or delete the movie. I tried everything but no luck. I dont want to see unfinished movie download stuck in my download for vidoes. I want to remove it ASAP so i can download any program in future.
I tried it all day but no luck. So frustrated.

Yea - that's what I'd try'd first. Unfortunatly the Snow Leopard Server was not able to remove those Items from the Mountain Lion System after the update. So I updated also the Server to Moutain Lion Server. The interessting part was, that after the server update the MPB wasn't registered any more on the server. So I'd registred it again und published a new Dock policy. That worked fine so far, and brought up this nice new policy icon in the system settings and removed the broken link. How ever, the plan was to deregister the MBP again because I dont want to manage it over the server anymore. At this point I'd faild and get was back to starting point, because the stupid system restored the old brocken links...
I guess I have to understand how ML store the non users specific Dock settings as well as the network registrations from the old system if I want to fix it. Unfortunatly I did'd find an answer to that quastion. So maybe you have an idea?
    kind regards

  • The SD (Standard Definition) button in the Store doesn't work for seasons of TV Shows I have downloaded from

The SD Button in the Apple Store doesn't work whenever I click it for seasons of TV Shows seasons I have already downloaded from, it works perfectly fine for shows I haven't downloaded an episode from but not for shows I have downloaded anything from. I can click the button but it doesn't open up a new menu anyway and just stays on the HD menu, this is annoying because not only does it cost more for HD but it is a much larger download that I want.
I have updated to the latest iTunes but this hasn't helped the problem, I am considering re-installing iTunes but will that mean that I have to download the other shows again before I can watch them? Or do they remain downloaded? Just because I don't want to spend a lot of data re-downloading everything I have already downloaded.

Update: I've just figured out that the SD button doesn't work if the 'Buy Complete Season' button is blue, if it isn't blue then the menu can alternate between the HD and SD options easily but if it is blue then it won't switch between HD and SD. This is just getting weirder as I continue investigating...
So it seems that if the button for buying the rest of the season is light blue then that means I can only purchase in HD? Is this a software issue?

  • Firefox will not play .ogv video files when loaded from a server. Does anyone have any answers that will fix this?

I've read the suggestions for fixing this, and none of them work. I've updated my .htaccess to match MIME types for .ogv, I've uploaded the files as both Binary and ASCII, neither method works. The .ogv file plays fine when you load it from a local file, but it will not play when viewed from a remote server. I've confirmed with my hosting company that the .htaccess and all other issues for HTML5 are up-to-date. Safari and Chrome play the HTML5 videos just fine, but Firefox will not. Does anyone have any concrete answers as to what the problem is. I'm also serving up the video files as .webm and .mp4, but neither of these formats works in Firefox either.

That can happen if the server isn't configured properly to send the files with a by Firefox supported MIME type.
Did you check via the Web Console which headers Firefox receives when requesting the .ogv file?
If that is OK then it is possible that the file is using an unsupported coding method.

  • Song already downloaded but showing as pending download from cloud

It seems to be one thing after another.......I royally screwed up my itunes directories after doing backups/restores/copies/moves over that last couple of years, so today I tackled re-organizing everything and getting almost everything back in shape. I'm now stuck on one of the last couple of issues. I ahve a lot of purchased songs that are already on my computer, but when I open itunes and sort the "cloud" image I get dozens of songs that indicate they are pending download from the cloud (you know that image of the cloud with an arrow pointing down). the problem is that all these songs already exist on my computer so when I download again, it makes a copy in the same directory. Any ideas on how to get around this?
    Thanks!

    Hey there GordonRSmith,
It sounds like you are not wanting to see the entire list of undownloaded Podcasts on your iOS device. You can configure the settings to limit the number of Podcast episodes you see in your subscribed list, outlined here:
Limit Episodes: You can pick how many episodes you see for subscriptions.
Podcasts app for iOS: Managing subscriptions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6190
You can also set Download Episodes to OFF in the same group of settings to make it so that no episodes download until you tap the cloud icon.
Download Episodes: The latest episodes of your podcasts will download automatically.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Safari/Firefox show quicktime symbol with a ? when trying to play videos

I have searched the forums and every solution for the "quicktime with ?" is either unanswered for my situation or the solution hasn't worked for me. I have a mac pro running 10.5.6 and quicktime Pro 7.6 installed. I have reinstalled quicktime 7.6, reinstalled real player (there was a suggestion this would help) and reinstalled flip4mac. I have also upgraded my safari to 4 Beta and still no luck. When I load firefox (current version as well) same issue. I'm trying to view the videos/tutorials on apple's website. I have no issue playing quicktime movies already on my machine, just from the web. Please advise, thanks!!

    Welcome to the forums!
The "quicktime with ?" generally refers to Flash videos.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • TV shows won't download from iTunes on iPhone or iPad

I am using all of the latest iPhone software, I am on wi-fi, with plenty of space available (>5GB).
    -Open iTunes app store app
-Buy any TV SHOW (SD Edition)
-Buy button turns into "Downloading".  Red badge appears in download portion of iTunes App. (expected behavior)
-Unexpected behavior:  Red badge disappears.  "Downloading" button turns back into "Download" button.  Badge disappears from download area.  Nothing downloaded.
This also happens if I try to download any TV show from the cloud.

Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name in the left sidebar under the Devices heading - and then select Transfer Purchases from the pop up. That should transfer the movies into your iTunes library on your PC.

  • Deleting unfinished film download from videos on iPhone 5s

    Hi,
This could be kind of daft but I once started a film download and stopped it, what's getting on my nerves is that the film icon is still there and I can't get rid of it.
I erased all the data on my handset and the film icon is still there. I would really appreciate it if anyone could advise please on how to delete it or get rid of it.
Tried to find a solution in the community discussions but couldn't find something that helps.
    Many thanks,

    Hello Ram2910
You should be able to view them natively within iOS. If you can view them in safari and want to save them, then download iBooks or search for other apps that can view and save them.

  • When entering login's, Firefox shows the last entries.

Whenever I am asked to log into a secure sight, Firefox shows the last entries entered; ie, when I log into Yahoo, all I have to do is enter the first letter and it shows the last 6-8 logins. I feel that this is a security issue. I don't want others to see my login's. Explorer does not do this. How do I turn this off?
