Firefox sometimes loads certain sites, most times won't load.

After I installed the noscript addon, it seems my firefox won't load certain pages. Firefox also updated itself on the same day.. which of these two are my problem? Some videos will also not load(e.g. youtube videos will say an error has occurred and keeps telling me to try later). It was fine yesterday... but today it seems all messed up. and Yes I have allowed noscript to allow these sites... I just don't know whats wrong..

When on a phone call when I need to enter numbers on the keypad, the screen goes black and the device doesn't register the numbers.  Sometimes it works, but most times not...very frustrating.  Any recommendations?

Is there a case or screen protector that is possibly interfering with the proximity sensor (detects if the phone is near your face, allows the keypad/screen to be visible when the phone is away from your face)

  • Safari and Firefox stalling on certain sites

Certain internet sites like the New York Times and ESPN seem to make Safari and Firefox stall completely. Anyone have a solution for this?

Try using the Activity Window when visiting one or two of the problem sites. I found that one site was loading two flash files, each over 1 megabyte. Instead of loading the rest of the site, these files stalled the entire site, or Safari, until they were loaded. In the Error Console I'm seeing lots, more than two dozen on one site, of Javascript errors. Again, I think it's a combination of bad/outdated programming on some sites and something broken in Safari.
I think the issue boils down to sloppy programming on some sites and changes to the recent build of Safari. I don't know if the recent OS upgrade broke Javascript and I wish there were a way to reinstall it alone to see if that fixes part of the problem.
I also notice that with OS 10.5.6 and Firefox that same problem sites are also slower to load, but not nearly as slow as when using Safari. Logging in with Tiger and its version of Safari is definitely a better experience.

  • WRT54Gv5 cannot reach certain sites some times

Every so often (maybe once every day or so) none of the three computers I have wirelessly connected to my WRT54Gv5 router can reach certain sites. Using tracert from the router's Diagnostic page displays nothing. Pinging these sites from the Diagnostic page either shows "Unknown host" or "DNSRDSocketRecev: FdPoll Timeout".
The sites I have found this normally effects are (please don't judge me by the list :
    www.papajohnsonline.com
    www.washingtonpost.com
    www.worldofwarcraft.com
If I can't hit one of them, normally I can't hit any of them but other sites like CNN or Yahoo work fine. Some times it effects Google but not all the time. When I unplug/replug in the router and once the computer reconnects to the router, everything is back to normal for a day or two.
I was hoping the latest firmware update (1.01.0) would resolve it but it didn't.
I've also noticed that when this problem happens getting to the router's admin page is really slow and is some times completely unresponsive.
I called Linksys support about this many times a while ago and they weren't all that helpful. They had me changing the MTU to a different size each time I called. None of settings fixed it. They also had me switch from DHCP to a static IP which didn't fix it either.
Anyone else have any other ideas?
    Thanks!
    Pat

great_white, thanks much for your reply.
I've got the MTU at 1492 but the problem still occurs (expected but I appreciate the tip to keep it at 1492).
I ran "netsh winsock reset catalog" and it runs but says I have to restart the machine to complete the reset. I'd rather not have to do that on all machines.
"ipconfig/flushdns" runs successfully but doesn't resolve the problem.
    Sigh. Thanks, anyway!
Guess when this router dies completely (or another need to upgrade comes up) I'll buy a D-Link or something.

  • Firefox was infected with a virus or spywar and now tries to pop up a certain site every time I load a new page or refresh.

A few days ago my computer was infected with a virus from my antivirus license running out without me knowing it. Ever since then every time I load a page in firefox or refresh it a pop up window to a site that my ESET antivirus blocks comes up. This will not stop and I can't figure out how to fix it. I've deleted all temporary files on my comp and tried reinstalling firefox from scratch and still won't go away. I'm running out of things to try and not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

  • Flash in Firefox after a certain period of time

I dunno if this is a common problem amongst others that are experienced but I leave my desktop on 24/7 and typically have Firefox open with a session of many tabs, so when I come back to the box and view a flash video (this is after many hours, perhaps after work the next day or such) it pauses about 2 seconds in or so and the sound doesn't work, then a few seconds later it is like it's trying to play the sound but it does the du-du-du-du stuttering thing, it's frozen and I have to close the tab and even 5-10 seconds after that until the sound stops. I pretty much have to restart FF to get flash working right again.
I have never had probs with FF and flash but I think some recent update may have done this, not sure. I use an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 card that works perfectly in all other means (5.1, stereo upmixed to 5 channels, multiple apps using sound simultaneously, etc.). Just a flash issue here or perhaps my configuration?
    TIA

That sounds like a plan-- did you install this: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21045  ?? If so, I would just remove the flashplugin I have installed via pacman and install this right? Thanks

  • Firefox cannot open certain sites

When I try to log onto a secure website, such as a bank or tax office, when you hit the log on button, firefox opens a new window, not in a tab, with just the address bar at the top saying search bookmarks and history, and goes no further. This has only happened recently, the problem does not occur in safari.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Firefox crashes on certain site and even not send crash report.

    How to send crash report?

    Hi andrewrogers
Could you please start a new thread for your question if the below posted suggestions do not work.
Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
    *[[/questions/new start a new thread]]

In case of crashes also please add some recent crash IDs that you can find on the about:crashes page and that start with a "bp-" prefix
Note that your crashes are likely a problem with Trusteer Report software (RapportTanzanxx.DLL).
Make sure that you have the latest updates of your Trusteer software.
You can try to contact Trusteer for support.

  • Firefox 4 will automatically open links on certain sites without clicking.

On certain sites, most notably Gmail, Firefox 4 will open a link in a new tab without clicking. If I open an email message that contains a link to an address, Firefox will automatically open a new tab with this address in Google Maps.
I have also noticed it on a couple of other sites, though where exactly escapes me at the moment.
Any ideas how to stop this?

Yes. This is very annoying. I use Gmail and same thing happens to me too! Also happens with youtube and picasa links. I have not found a cause or a solution to this so far.

  • After upgrade to Firefox 6, certain sites can no longer be loaded.

After upgrading from Firefox 5 to FF 6, certain sites will no longer load. These sites both use Typepad and that seems to be where FF6 hangs. Have not had this problem with FF5. Tried clearing cache, deleting bookmarks (to sites that won't load), and typing in address. That doesn't help. Sometimes, the sites load partly (i.e. with only words, no images); other times, load after a long time (several minutes); most often will not load at all.

I've only one hint to you, cause I've mot on Mac-Server.
With 10.7 Apple have switched from Samba (maybe due to licence problems with GPL based stuff) to a own protocol called "XSMB"
This had caused problems with some NAS systems too.
Eventually someone have a glue to solve that, as several users have problems with SMB shares since that.

  • I cannot open a new tab. When I press the tab bar, sometimes it opens, but most of the times it won't. It is especially so when there are already 5 tabs opened

I have a problem opening a new tab with FireFox 24.0.
When I press the tab bar, sometimes it opens, but most of the times it won't. It is especially so when there are already 5 tabs opened.
I use "checkCompatibility 1.3" and "Google Toolbar for FireFox 7.1.20110512W" as addons. There have been no problems until the previous version of FireFox.

    Thank you for the reply.
It works fine with the safe mode. So it must be something to do with <i>checkCompatibility 1.3</i> or <i>Google Toolbar for FireFox 7.1.20110512W</i>.
Both are necessary to run Google Toolbar on Firefox, and the fact is Google Toolbar is too convenient to be removed. So I have bookmarked a couple of blank pages and I right-click them to open new tabs. But it is so tiresome.
I hope this problem will be fixed in the next version. FireFox without Google Toolbar is just a useless browser.

I just downloaded the latest version of firefox (5.0). Can I delete all the older versions that are still on my drive?
When I call up some web sites sometimes the web site comes up 3 or 4 times...how do I stop this from happening? For example if I click on a link the exact same link comes up 3 or 4 times and I have to manually delete all of them but one.

Do you organise your email into separate folders, or do you just let it accumulate in the Inbox?
I would strongly advise you not to let it sit in the Inbox.
When you see this happening, try right-click on the affected folder, select '''Properties''' then '''Repair Folder'''.
Large folders (actually, a folder in Thunderbird is stored as a file, so it is sensitive to file size limits set by the underlying file system) can be problematic. This is one reason not to let messages collect in one folder. I use Thunderbird's Archive folders so that accumulated mails over several years can happily coexist because they are effectively stored in many small folders. No single mail store folder then exceeds the 2GB or 4GB sizes that have been known to stress the OS. I appreciate that current builds of Thunderbird and a modern 64-bit OS should be able to cope, but practically I find it slows down when given huge files, so I err towards a pragmatic solution; a large number of not very big files.
Archives are searchable, and a Saved Search folder can give you a virtual composite folder allowing access to the entire Archive.
