Firefox start with the previous Windows and Tabs, even the optin I have chosen is the Homepage.

At start up Firefox does not go to my Homepage

Cor-el, thank you for your support. Unfortunately the same thing happens whether I close by using the x or by using exit in the Firefox Tab. I go to Options and make sure that "Show my home page is chosen in the "when Firefox starts" option box. Between the time I close and when I bring Firefox back up that option gets changed to "Show my Windows and Tabs from last time"

  • When Firefox starts options, 'show my windows and tabs' is greyed out??

Tools, options, general - when firefox starts
I wish to pick ' show my windows and tabs from last time' but this is greyed out??

It sounds like you may have some other settings changed that prevent Firefox from restoring your tabs and windows. Here's what to check:
#At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options
#Select the Privacy panel and make sure Firefox will: is set to either Remember history or Use custom settings for history.
#*If Firefox will: is set to Use custom settings for history then make sure that Permanent Private Browsing mode is not selected.
#*If Firefox will: is set to Use custom settings for history and Clear history when Firefox closes is selected, then click the Settings button and make sure that Browsing History is not selected.
#Click OK to close the Options window

  • I can't find firefox.exe on my hard drive after a reboot; is there a way to restore previous windows and tabs after I reinstall?

I closed firefox and rebooted. After rebooting, I tried to load Firefox but the firefox.exe file was nowhere on the hard disk.
I would like to restore my previous windows and tabs. How do I do this?

It is one or the other. Since you're Restored the phone from the previous backup, the new content is gone (unless you did a separate backup) and whatever was in the old backup is all you've got. And there is no merging capabilities.
Beware that if you do not password-protect a locally-stored backup made on iTunes on a computer, not all the content gets saved. I suspect it is similar when using iCloud, but I never use that so don't know for sure. Just Restored my new iPhone 6+ from the full backup of the previous iPhone 5 and all was there save a few passwords such as iCloud.

I installed a security program called Identity Finder whick requires a master password for Firefox on my laptop, which I like. However, even though my settings are to "Show my windows and tabs from last time," I have to manually add each link in a new tab each time. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Pure speculation, but maybe that Identity Finder program is deleting your browsing history which is how Firefox restores tabs and windows from the previous session. Check with technical support for that program or look at the manual.

  • Since the Version 20.0 update when starting firefox I have frequently got the error message "firefox is having trouble your windows and tabs" .

Since the version 20.0 update when starting firefox I have frequently got the error message "firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs" This has not occurred with previous versions. If I click on the box "restore" and close firefox the problem reoccurs if I click close I lose the bookmark sidebar. I am so sick and tired of these frequent and buggy updates (every one since 17.0 have caused norton 360 to stop detecting tracking cookies for several weeks and or broken the norton toolbar) that I will uninstall firefox and switch to another browser if this does not change.

  • Can you please fix problem error msg ..well this is embarrassing ..Firefox is having trouble recovering window and tabs. Etc. comes up all the time

I checked FAQ and solution to quit first and not close windows didn't help me. Will a new version be coming out to fix this problem? And if so PLEASE make it soon

hello, this is currently a problem in firefox when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • Suddenly Firefox starts with the last page viewed.

I'm running Firefox 24.0 on Windows 7. Suddenly when I start Firefox I wind up on the last page viewed, tabs and all. I went to Options, set it to blank. Went to about:config and made the change there. No luck.
I'm not certain, but I think this started with this week's Microsoft download.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Why "Firefox is having trouble recovering windows and tabs" message

    Why is this happening

hello, this may also be the current problem in firefox 20 that when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards it is mistaken for a crash - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • How can I open previous windows and tabs in safari 5.1.7 running OX S 10.6.8

    Hi everyone,
I format my Mac today and previsously save the safari folder from library so I have all the bookmarks and other stuff. After install OX S I copy the folder again but now when I open safari the previous tabs and windows didn't open automatically like I always have it. I know I can just click History and then reopen all windows from last sessions but is there any away to do it automatically (when I open safari). I am running snow leopard 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.7.

I'm not sure why creating a new user account or guest user account would help.
Because it may help in the diagnosis of your problem.
Seems like others are having the same problem
I have never seen this problem mentioned before.

  • Firefox starts with the last homepage during download process

    Firefox 4.0 RC1.
Start up is setup with "show a blank page" and "about:blank"
If the browser is closed during a download process when the browser is restarted it displays the last home page visited.
This continues to happen until the download process ends, then the blank page is displayed.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

  • In options, the selection for "use my windows and tabs from yesterday" is Dimmed I want to know why?

I cannot set , in options, use my window and tabs from yesterday, because it is dimmed! I haven't been able to find why it would be dimmed.
I keep 5 tabs open all the time & it is becoming a pain to have to reset them all from bookmarks every time firefox is closed & reopened. just because I cannot set it to do that in options, because the selection is dimmed in options

Because you probably are using private navigation, go to Tool >>Privacy >>in the option Firefox will: change to Remember History, now you can change that option "When Firefox Start" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • The "Show my windows and tabs from last time" option in the Firefox 3.6.16 Preferences/Startup menu was working on my iMac (OS/X 10.6.7) last week; now it's not.

When I close Firefox with multiple tabs/windows open, the next time I open Firefox they’re all gone, and I’m left with a single window and tab showing my home page (Google).

The file that stores details of sessions may be corrupt. Try deleting the file to see if it helps.

    # Close Firefox

  • Is there a command-line option that will override the "show my windows and tabs from last time"?

A friend of mine occasionally runs into a web page that causes him problems. To be sure, he should note the URL and submit a bug report if a page causes a browser crash, but in any case, while by default he likes the browser to restore windows and tabs from the previous session, in the case of an obnoxious web page, you *don't* want that to happen. I'm hoping that I can set up an icon for him to click on that will start the browser up on his home page instead of restoring previous windows and tabs when he gets into trouble.

Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes
That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.
