Firefox starts with the last homepage during download process

Firefox 4.0 RC1.
Start up is setup with "show a blank page" and "about:blank"
If the browser is closed during a download process when the browser is restarted it displays the last home page visited.
This continues to happen until the download process ends, then the blank page is displayed.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

Suddenly Firefox starts with the last page viewed.

I'm running Firefox 24.0 on Windows 7. Suddenly when I start Firefox I wind up on the last page viewed, tabs and all. I went to Options, set it to blank. Went to about:config and made the change there. No luck.
I'm not certain, but I think this started with this week's Microsoft download.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.

This is very embarrassing because we finish at a high measured value and start with small value, which can not be seen on the autoscale screen due to the memorized high first value. We use NI PCI-6220 DAQ board and software written in LabView 7.1 using Express VIs and running in the LabView environment. The program (attached) every half second measures 3 AI channels, filters and scales the data, visualizes, averages and saves it in a file. Please advise me how can I avoid this problem. Please note that I am not very experienced in LabView.

I can't get Firefox to start with a blank page, which I always managed to do up till 17.0, buy now it always starts with the last page.

I have been using Firefox for several years, and know how to set my Home Page by going to Tools/Options/General, and selecting the appropriate tab.
However, since the last update to 17.0.1, It now always starts as it was when I shut down, including multiple windows if I had them open. It is so irritating that I am considering changing my browser.

Cor-el, thank you for your support. Unfortunately the same thing happens whether I close by using the x or by using exit in the Firefox Tab. I go to Options and make sure that "Show my home page is chosen in the "when Firefox starts" option box. Between the time I close and when I bring Firefox back up that option gets changed to "Show my Windows and Tabs from last time"

How to fix runtime error R6034 when using Microsoft Vista on an HP computer. Started with the last itunes update.

Problem started after loading last itunes update. Uninstalled itunes from my HP but still getting error message when I start up the computer. Is there a new update on itunes?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

Fix needed... start with the last directory.

I've noticed that in the current version of Muse when I go to place an asset I choose the directory I'm working with and place one [ie: e:/projects/client_name/website/images/file.png], then when I go to place another it places me back in the "my computer" area (Windows 7 ultimate - 64bit).
Now before the last update it would have placed me in the directory I last used, which.
Has anyone else had this experience?
Adobe please fix this.

This is a known issue since Air update to 3.8. You can downgrade to a previous version of Air as a temporary solution to this problem until this is fixed in a later version. Refer to the following similar thread - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5561789.

How to arrange contacts in my Addess Book starting with the last name, re-doing them all at once, not individually. (I have 910 names in my Address Book).

This is a new computer. I see that my addresses have been arranged so that they read from the first name -- i.e. Jimmy Brown comes under 'J', not 'B'. I should like to put them all so that they read from the last name, first. I can do this individually but very much hope that there is a way that I can do ALL of them in ONE go? First step is to set the address book to show last name and then the first.
Open the Address Book
Select View-Show Name As-Last, First
Then click on the column header labeled NAME to sort on that column.

I,m having and identical problem. In fact when I went to type this my split keyboard is dead center on the page.
When I hold down the button on the bottom right corner when I'm in split mode I get the option to Dock and Merge or just to Merge. There is no option where the keyboard stays split once it's been docked and merged.
Help! I have small hands and it's so much easier to type in split screen.

Firefox starts with old tabs and windows I had visited ages ago, not a new blank window. It is opening up a tab containing a credit card transaction I had completed last week, so I am worried about the security risks your browser is posing right now.

Few times a week, ff opens after boot with random tabs from history open. But today it kept opening the same set of windows (not tabs) from random points of time from history. It stopped after I closed 4 of them and browsed a bit with the last and closed it with tabs open. Then it resumed opening the previously saved tabs. The usual situation with tabs occurs generally after I close firefox with no tabs and no websites loaded and I shut down the computer.
I do have a large amount of history, I generally clear only sensitive sites from history by searching and clicking forget this site.

So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning.

Are you sure the multi-links icon on the bottom bar of your firefox window is enabled (ie not greyed out)?

whenever I open firefox after closing it down, it always opens with the last page I was on. I have the settings to point to a specific homepage and have it set to always open on the homepage, but it doesn't.

I am having a similar problem, I'm using "Show my home page" on start-up but firefox decides to always open to the last page visited regardless. I also generally close Firefox using the red X or with alt+f4. This problem is especially annoying when the last page 'visited' is an annoying pop-up ad that wasn't been caught by the pop-up blocker.

I can watch all of my old TV shows on iTunes, but the last one I downloaded jammed up after about one minute. I tried quitting I-tunes and re-starting my computer to no avail. iTunes won't even let me delete it so I can try downloading it again.
