Firefox stops responding during during transmission of Gmail stopping the transmission for a minute or more

At times, when I am transmitting a Gmail, the transmission stops for a minute or more and at the top of the screen in the blue bar a message appears "Mozilla Firefox not responding".

How can this dependency of clearing the queues be removed once and for all for good?

    My firefox at home, (version 3) does not have this happen! I'm afraid of upgrading to version 3 because of all these problems. I use FireFox for work so i really need it and I'm wasting crucial time restarting websites and updating my websites/blog/business listings from scratch. not right!
    I also notice it happens a lot to Harley Davidson website.

    Safari and firefox stop working after a few minutes of browsing, regardless of what site I'm on. I have to restart my computer to get internet access again but it only works for a few more minutes, then I have to restart again. I don't get a spinning ball, it just stops working at whatever page it's on. I can close the program just fine but when I re-open it, either safari or firefox, it freezes trying to load the hompage. This started a few days ago after trying to stream a movie on my computer. I'm on a Mac Air OS X Version 10.6.8 and have downloaded all updates. When I go into finder, it says I have over 80 gigs available. Is there some other memory cache that I need to check? Thanks so much for your help.

    It's not a router problem as I explained in my post. If it was a router problem then I wouldn't have the problem everywhere I go. It is an issue with the software.
    Then I guess the millions of people running 10.5.7 with no issues are just hallucinating that their machines are working fine?
    I'm not trying to belittle your issues; you're certainly having them and I know first hand how annoying an intermittent AirPort issue can be. (In fact, mine was due to an AirPort driver bug that no one else seemed to suffer from.)
    The single best diagnostic you could do is take your system running 10.5.7 to an Apple Store, and try using their in-store network.
    If your machine performs flawlessly, it may be a router issue.
    If your machine has connectivity issues there, it may be a hardware problem with your machine.
    There have been numerous people in multiple threads over the years who swore that an update was buggy because things used to work, but returned later to sheepishly admit that they took their machine in, a problem was found and fixed, and now their Mac works flawlessly with the newer software.
    But simply reinstalling 10.5.5 in no way means the explanation of how firmware bugs may be at play here is incorrect.
    In the context of that explanation, all you've done is possibly reinstall software that asks to add "2 + 3."

    I don't think it's exactly an incomplete installation brody, but most likely in-correct permissions somewhere along the line that either happened, or became magnified during the upgrade. Also, it could be corruption as well.
    First thing to do, is boot up holding down Shift key to do a safe-boot so we an clean up any corrupted OS caches, after that do another reboot, but go to the Lion recovery, and scan the HD for errors, repair any if you find them, and then try to do a Repair Permissions job.
    That should fix the issue, if not, we can start doing a PRAM reset  and SMC for good measure.

    I'm having the same issue. Different programs though, it's mostly browsers and adobe products. I thought maybe it was heat related but it's not. It seems that as soon as Lion was about to be released, the updates were updating in preparation for Lion. I delayed updating the software updates because Adobe (my career) isn't totally compatible with Lion yet. Before I even started getting update notifications, though, within the recent week, it's freezing up constantly. I don't know what to do. It seems to be happening with my brower choice, I'm using Firefox and Chrome as my main browsers. I keep alot of sessions open but that shouldn't cause (and has never caused) this constant freezing issue. I did install some extensions in Chrome and Firefox, maybe that's the problem... The issues began after those were installed though, 3 weeks to a month later... Maybe the software updates (that I installed thinking it would correct the freezing issue), maybe they are preventing other browsers ? Maybe Apple is getting rid of Chrome and Firefox ? I'm not having issues with Safari (yet) though I just opened it for the first time in 2 months... only because the macbook is freezing (and it's also rebooting while asleep, closing all of my projects and not saving them)...
    My Macbook Pro is the same year and the HDD is a year new. The manufacture recall had the video whatever replaced a few months ago.
    I've never had these kinds of problems with an Apple computer. I'm using Snow Leopard and I'm very attached to this laptop ! It's configured perfectly.
    Why oh why does it freeze constantly within the recent 1-2 weeks ?
    Someone please help us !

    Firefox can't open normally without going through the "this is embarrassing" routine; nor does it close down properly; I get the "end program" message and have to say "end now"it also sticks frequently, i.e. screen freezes for a minute or more; should I uninstall and re-install to try and debug?
    - I've used Firefox exclusively for around 2 years.
    - My outlook express has no problems
    - other programs seem unaffected; it seems peculiar to Firefox.
    - my main use is surfing the net, primarily entering competitions on line via specialist competition sites.
    - every day at some stage(s) I have to switch computer off as Firefox has got very slow/sticky/freezes.
    I'm not techy by any means, but I can only thing of un- and re-installing to hopefully start with a clean slate.

    Sounds like something is keeping Firefox from closing properly. See this: <br />

  • How to stop the process for some time

    I want to stop the process for some time can any one give the package or keyword or example for the same
    For suppose two programs A and B.. .B will run based on output of A. What i need is... When A is executed the process will stop for 5mins then B has to execute...

    You can use signals with DBMS_ALERT to "wake up" a procedure.
    Procedure A is something like this:
    DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER('B_FINISHED');
    do logic...
    when finished - send a signal
    DBMS_ALERT.SIGNAL('A_FINISHED','B you can start');
    now wait until B is finished
    DBMS_ALERT.WAITANY(...)
    continue logic hereAnd Procedure B is
    DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER('A_FINISHED');
    wait for a to finish
    DBMS_ALERT.WAITANY(...);
    do logic...
    when finished, signal A it can continue
    DBMS_ALERT.SIGNAL('B_FINISHED','A can continue');This is useful if u they need to wait for each other within the code. if they just need to wait - call B from A.
    Hope this helps.

  • Stop the execution for Some seconds

    I want to stop the execution for some second , Basically
    i want some funtion which will wait for specified period .
    it should work like Inkey() in foxpro .
    I have tried timer , pause but that does not solve the problem
    Thank you
    Regards

    find the library d2kwutil.pll (probably in c:\orawin95\tools\devdem60\demo\forms) and copy it and d2kwut32.dll to your application directory. Attach the pll to your form; now you can "interface" with windows. So for pausing you application use this in you form:
    win_api_utility.sleep(1000);
    the parameter takes milliseconds. so in the example it's 1000 milliseconds or 1 second.
    good luck!

  • Streaming audio data won't stop unless I turn off the phone for 5 minutes.

    I have been testing the Curve 8330 regarding streaming audio from an icecast server. The address of the station is http://www.AirProgressive.org, click on "listen". (I have already run this by the icecast experts and they say it is a Blackberry "bug")
    BLACKBERRY USERS! PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE STREAM (dataflow) DOES NOT STOP WHEN YOU CLICK "STOP" ON THE MEDIA PLAYER! (and will continue for as long as you leave it on, and even if you turn off your BB for less than 5 Minutes.) So, to stop the streaming server from communicating with the Blackberry handset, you must either turn it off or disable mobile network for at least 5 minutes.
    It appears that the handset continues to transfer data (and therefore incur charges, if the user does not have an unlimited data plan) if the handset is not turned off or mobile network disabled for at least five minutes. It also runs down the battery much faster because the radio transmitter is actively being used, even if the user is not listening to the stream.
    The Blackberry network has intervening servers that continue to receive data from the streaming server even if the handset is off. This behavior likely has utility to deal with the realities of the cellphone network, to allow the stream to be transferred from one cell to another, and deal with the possibility that the handset may be out of range for up to 5 minutes without "interruption." However, it is hard to turn off the stream.
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Is there a way to stop this sort of behavior using a configuration setting or something? It seems particularly stupid to start a new stream connection each time a STOP/START cycle is completed, allowing the old connections to continue streaming data (even if the data does not make it to the handset).
    2. IS IT TRUE that the user will be "charged" for the data streams that are not disconnected?
    3. Is there a way for a developer to send a signal to the intervening cellphone network to discontinue the orphan streams?
    THANKS!!

    No, I'm using something like this :
    to start...
                       channel = new SoundChannel();
                                            soundPlay = new Sound();
                                            urlReq=new URLRequest;
                                            urlReq.url=mylUrl;  // url of radio mp3
                                            soundPlay.load(urlReq);
                       channel = soundPlay.play();
    to stop it...
                          channel.stop();
                          channel=null;
                          try{soundPlay.close();} catch (e:Error) {} // error or not, the sream won't stop.
    Any idea ? Did you try with a NetStream object ?

  • Every single extension I have is broken. Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't work either. They say they'll be updated when Firefox is restarted, but I can't even open the preferences for each plug-in.

    Not a solitary extension is working. Many of them say that they'll be updated when Firefox is restarted; some of them ostensibly appear to be working, but clicking on the 'preferences' button provokes no response. I have Firefox 3.6.13. I've tried uninstalling and then re-installing one of the extensions (Stumbleupon) but to no avail. Do I need to be re-installing Firefox here?

    This can happen if one of the files that stores details on installed extensions is corrupt. To fix that see the section on corrupt extension files in the [[Unable to install add-ons]] article.

  • How to stop the program for a while?

    Hi,
    I've created a small prog that the only thing it does is to ask for a given password before granting access to certain data. It works fine on the WTK emulator (from Sun of course), but it crashes on a Nokia 6600 due to a bug in the Nokia's MIDP2.0 implementation. Now I need to trace/find the exact point of the program where it crashes (in the mobile phone - where the app gets closed). MY PROBLEM is that I need to insert into the program some kinda code that stops for a while the program saying "I am at the Nth step and running fine", but I can't stop the program from executing, because I can't find out how, I've tried the
    display.setCurrent( someAlert );but it doesn't seem to stop the program like it would in an HTML JavaScript page. And:
    Thread.currentThread().sleep( 2000 );doesn't stop for some reason the program either..
    Can anyone give me a tip or a workaround of how I can temporarily stop the prog? Please help

    Try putting the current thread to sleep right after setting the alert:
    yourAlert.setTimeout(3000);
    display.setCurrent(yourAlert);
    try {
       Thread.sleep(3000);
    catch(...)
