Firefox stops responding when I click on a link

my daughter is homeschooled and when she is doing her schoolwork she sometimes has to click on a link and when she does, it starts to load and then freezes, I can go to the start menu or x out but nowhere else on the page, when I check the task manager, it says firefox is not responding

Firefox stop responding when you click in the window.

If you click anywhere in the content window the program stops responding. Title bar does not display "not responding". Can access menu function sometimes, but most of time program hang as soon as you click in the window.
This problem started on 3/2/13 when the program was updated.

First, you are using a version of Firefox that is very old and outdated. Please update to at least Firefox 3.6.27, or more preferably, update to Firefox 10.0.2. There are lots of bug fixes, security improvements, and much improved performance in Firefox 10.
After you do that, try seeing if you are still having a problem. If you are, is this that when you try to select "Open in a new tab" it opens in a new window instead? Or something else?

Firefox stops responding when starting

Basically, Firefox has worked fine for 3 months on this computer, no problems. I haven't installed any new add-ons since I set it up initially. I closed out of my session, went and had lunch, came back and now within 5-10 seconds after starting up Firefox, it freezes. I deleted my cache and nothing changed. I can't use the profile manager because you have to be in Firefox to do so, and it immediately stops responding.
I did a complete reinstall after wiping everything that I could, and it worked for one full session. When I closed it and opened it again, same thing as before. Only thing different from today from yesterday was a single game installation (Sim City 4 what whaaat), otherwise there's been no change to my computer's files.
Any help?

Firefox stops responding to mouse clicks after one click; am on iMac PPC G5,OS 10.4.11; this freeze happens with Logitech AND Mac mice.

About a month ago Firefox would stop responding to the clicks of my mouse after a click or two. Minimizing the page and reopening, or clicking off to another window and back, sometimes gives me another click or two but it always freezes again. I'm on an iMac G5 PPC (from around 2005) desktop running OS 10.4.11. I have a Logitech mouse and loaded a newer driver, and upgraded to Firefox 3.6.12 but the problem persists. I also tried running in Safe Mode but this did not fix the problem, and tried both the original Mac mouse and my Wacom tablet but neither fixes the problem.

Same problem FF3.6.13 WinXP. I had this before but it went away. Upgraded from Firebug 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 tonight and the problem returned; not sure if that's coincidence.
Weird thing is, it's not just that Firefox doesn't respond to the mouse clicks. The click goes right through Firefox to whatever's underneath. However, only the top FF window is affected. If I have two FF windows open, alt-tab into window A, then into window B (both maximised), then when window B stops responding the clicks are picked up by window A.
With window B not responding but over window A, if I click where window A has a SELECT, window A receives the mouse event and the OPTIONS appear over window B.
Only alt-tabbing to another non-Firefox window fixes the problem, and only temporarily.

Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works find in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Firefox stops responding when I try to play words with friends, eventually a box pops up about script

First, let me say I have the latest version of Firefox and Adobe Flash Player and Java Script. When I click to play Words With Friends (on pc) my computer starts racing and sounds loud and every thing freezes. If I try to click on slider or anything else, it says Mozilla Firefox (not responding), then it takes several minutes and a box pops up that says something about a script, do I want to continue or ?(I can't remember), after I click continue, I can play the game, but, at any given time Firefox will stop responding again!! A box also pops up from AVG saying that Firefox is using too much memory. Just an aside, I can play Scrabble on Facebook without any problems whatsoever. Please help, it is driving me crazy. Thanks

Sounds that you are missing the plugin that is used to play those videos embedded in Firefox. 
Your system details list doesn't show any media player plugin, so you will either have to check if the plugin(s) are installed, but disabled or install missing plugins.

Firefox stops responding when I try to clear my cookies-or it just does nothing.

Yesterday, I tried to clear my cookies-for security-I clicked on the 'clear' button and then I got the spinner thing. It then went to 'firefox is not responding'. One time-yesterday-when I clicked clear-it returned to the original 'clear cookies' screen-but I checked. It hadn't cleared anything. I was also getting the 'bad script' thing. I ran my anti-virus. Things were fine.

Didn't work. My cookies still haven't been cleared and I got a 'not responding' message when I tried to return to a prior screen.

Firefox stops responding when trying to "save page" or "save image"

Windows 7 64 bit and Firefox 28. When trying to 'Save Page' or 'Save Image' the save dialogue window is nearly blank, then info bar shows 'not responding'. I have tried all the tips in the support pages. Resetting Firefox, Starting Firefox in 'Safe Mode'. Upgrading graphics driver to latest version. Turning off 'Hardware Acceleration' in options. Nothing resolves the problem. This issue has only recently started, the last time I tried saving an image it worked fine, certainly prior to Microsoft's most recent 'upgrade Tuesday'.

Checked the save dates of the last images I successfully saved from within Firefox and compared them to my windows update log. The Microsoft March 'Update Tuesday' was installed on March 14th. My last successfully saved Firefox images were saved the following day on March 15th. Thus it is unlikely that the Firefox saving issue is a result of a Windows Update corruption. So the question is what changes have Mozilla made to Firefox between 15th and 24th March 2014 ???

I understand that finding a root cause is ideal, and I would be happy to further investigate this with you.

Firefox stops responding when trying to access facebook.

As of Sunday I cannot access Facebook. When I type in facebook in to the address bar Mozilla circle spins and then stops and eventually goes to "not responding." Every other website page I try to load is perfectly fine. And facebook page was fine as of Saturday afternoon. I came home on Sunday and it's not working now. Can anyone help? I have downloaded and run ccleaner, cleared cookies and cache with Mozilla. Not sure what else to do.
