Firefox stops upload or download until mouse moves

FF7.0.1 on Win7 Pro-64
Another strange behaviour: sometimes FF stops transporting (uploading or downloading) until mouse is moved.
Very strange is, that it will do to move the mouse hovering over any FF window or FF download window, even WHILE ANOTHER (non-FF-)WINDOW IS THE ACTIVE WINDOW and in front of a FF window.
This doesn't depend on specific sites and happens on different sites. And it happens only once in a while, once-twice-three times a day.
Any idea???

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• How can I make Firefox stop setting all downloaded files to "Share with nobody"?

For the last few months, every file I download with Firefox has its homegroup share option set to "Share with nobody". All my user accounts are administrator level, I have the sharing set properly in the destination file, and I am using FF 27.0.1. I have set the "scan when done" and "save zone information" to false in about:config. I have always had FF set to ask me where to save a download every time, and I've only had this problem recently. A couple topics said that this would be fixed in 27, but it is not for me.

The problem is created by using the temp folder, which is locked to the current user. Instead of copying the file from the temp folder, pasting to the desired download location, then deleting the file from the temp folder, Firefox uses a faster move command (when the destination is on the same drive as the temp folder). That move command does not rewrite the permissions to match the destination.
I think someone tried to work around this by making the permissions on the temp folder more liberal, but I don't think that worked or at least I don't recall anyone proclaiming success with that. (I don't think it's possible to force Firefox to use a folder other than the system temp folder.)

• Will FireFox Stop Trying To Download Media Player on my desktop with out my permission?

I hate having my browser closed against my will and having it try to install an add-on that I did not ask for nor want and that I did not give permission to start downloading and put on my browser.
I don't know what Media Player is but now I hate it this product with a furry because it has try to basically *** it's way on to my browser and it keeps restarting my shit.
I'd appreciated that in the future, your add-ons come with a message with a yes or no button asking if we want something new or not and when we click no, No means no, don't ever try to install it again for I have zero interest in your product and would like to not have it forced onto my browser.
And yes this experience has mad me very angry for this has happened at least seventeen times and it seems like its going to keep happening until I complain about it.
Have a nice day.

If the above does not work, we need to try Firefox in Safe Mode to determine whether the issue is indeed caused by another add-on.
To go into safe mode, please try the following steps:
(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
Is the issue still present in Safe Mode? Please let us know.

• Cursor doesn't change until mouse move

I think this is a bug but when I change several topics and then do a save all, a popup appears asking to apply to all topics created from a master page or this topic only. When this happens I click ok and the popup goes away and the cursor changes to an hourglass. Then the next topic popup comes again and the cursor will remain an hour glass until the mouse is moved. You think the system is busy but in reality it is waiting for you to click ok or move the mouse. If you move the mouse, the cursor changes to an arrow like normal.
This happens every time in my project so either there is something special about my project or it may be a bug so if you get the hour glass try moving the mouse.

Hi there
You should consider reporting as a bug. (link is always in my sig)
However, your post causes me to ask the following. Why are you making changes that cause this to happen? Normally you create things from a Master Page so you have more control. I believe the only time you see this particular issue erupt is when you have created a Header and/or Footer that are associated with a Master Page, then you decide to change the Header or Footer in a topic. RoboHelp sees that and asks if you want to update just that topic (and disassociate the topic from the Master Page) or if you want all other topics to be updated as a result of the change.
Hopefully this helps a bit... Rick

• For some reason today my Firefox stopped saving picture downloads as file names and identifies them all as URL. I don't know why it did this. It happened once before. How can I get it reset so I can save pictures as files instead of links?

I rebooted twice and it continued to do this. Just before this happened, I had walked away from the computer for a couple of hours. When I came back, every time I tried to open Firefox it told me that it was already open but would not open. It opened after I rebooted but still would not save to folders as a file name, only as a URL link.

Hey Gina,
Change all your passwords, this will stop the remote access if there are any. Also check to make sure there are no third party apps managing your passwords. Also please contact the tech support for the phone for more technical help on that issue :-)
I also understand that the customization is not staying. Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars
Did this happen when you synced last? Also are there more than one device with different Customized ui settings?
Change the settings back from open "pages from last time" to the other homepage: How to set the home page or if this happened after you attached another device to the sync account, uncheck Preferences from the sync settings.

• Firefox stops working when mouse stops on page.

Firefox stops processing data, downloading, and/or playing videos when mouse stops moving. If I click outside Firefox window, it resumes, or I have to keep moving my mouse.
I reloaded Firefox and Flash, to no avail. Internet Explore works OK.

hello, this is unfortunately a known regression in firefox 25 that is affecting a small portion of users, for reference please refer to bug #933733.
your best option is probably to downgrade to firefox 24 at the moment until the issue gets resolved.

hey, just to keep you updated - there is now a fix available for firefox 25, which should address the particular problem of pages not loading unless the mouse is moved.
if you have downgraded to firefox 24 to work around the issue, please go to firefox > options > advanced > update and turn automatic updates back on. then go to firefox > help > about firefox which should trigger the update to firefox 25.0.1.

Firefox will stop operating unless I continue to move the mouse.

If there is a fix, what is it or is there more than one issue/setting that needs to be checked and modified

Sorry for trouble try to re-install ff using the steps below
Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.
Please report back to say if this helped you!

• Ever since the most recent firefox update, every time I try to download anything firefox stops responding and will not do anything until I restart it. Can I revert back to a previous version, or is there a fix for it?

Every time I try to download anything firefox stops responding and will not do anything until I restart it. Can I revert back to a previous version, or is there a fix for it? When I restart firefox, then the download continues and all is well until I try to download something new (which I do quite often).

• Firefox freezes/hangs until I move something.

This is a strange one, but Im hoping to find the solution here. I have Firefox 6.0 - this also happened with the previous version - and am running Windows 7 Home Premium.
Anyways, I have this issue where the browser will freeze (or hang, not sure which term is correct), without turning white, and things wont resume movement unless I move the mouse, or type - but the browser must be the active window - it cannot do it if I move the mouse/type in another program. This mainly happens when Im attempting to upload something, but has happened on other occasions. It's really quite annoying. Things will [temporarily] go back to normal, once I close Firefox, and then re-open it. But, the problem keeps coming back. Graphics, such as GIFs or animated advertisements freeze; page(s) loading; downloads; uploads; etc. all until I make a move.
Is there any solution to this strange issue?! Please and thanks!

• Google Chrome freezes with the pinwheel until I move my mouse to the Hot Corner. Why?

Help me! I am using Google Chrome (Version 28.0.1500.95) on a Macbook Pro (Mac OS X 1.7.5) and it keeps freezing with the rainbow pinwheel of death until I move my mouse into the Hot Corner. Once it's gone to the pinwheel I can't use any other application until I move to the Hot Corner. It goes back straight away but it's getting to the stage now that it's freezing every 20 seconds.
Is it a virus or a problem with Chrome? What can I do to fix it?
Thanks,
Alex

A number of users have reported problems using Google Chrome. There seems to be an incompatibility with it and Mac OSX. I suggest that the simple solution is to uninstall Google Chrome and use Firefox, Safari or Opera instead.
