Firefox sync activation dissappears when I restart firefox

I'm attempting to set up Firefox Sync on two Fedora Linux desktops to sync bookmarks between the two machines. I am able to set up Sync on the first machine just fine, and I am able to add a device on the first machine to include the second machine. (I'm syncing with the firefox sync server, not with a custom server.) However, whenever I quit and restart firefox (on either machine), the sync "activation" or "connection" dissappears: In particular, after a restart, when I select "Edit": "Preferences": "Sync" I see the initial activation screen (i.e., the screen with s single button, "Set Up Firefox Sync".
I am able to reconnect to the Sync account, so the account on the Firefox Sync server persists. Apparently, the executable "firefox" on my machine is not maintaining the connection information over a restart.
Also, a suggestion: I would like to be able to browse the sync info on the Firefox sync account separately from the sync connection. This would help me debug connection problems, would enable me to deconflict, correct, or understand erroneous or ambiguous sync's after the fact (if historical log information were provided), and would in general make me feel better about how sync works. In short, I want to be able to see exactly what's in the cloud by viewing the cloud.

I have two VAIO books with Win XP prof and one iphone and one Airport Express Router.
I have a situation. Sometimes wifi disappears when I restart router. I've noticed the word because it is actually not true. Firstly I thought my router was broken. I restarted router several times and it started to work properly again. Then I tried to restart it again and wifi disappeared again. So "disappeared" means my VAIO books couldnt see wifi. Then I checked my iphone and.... its a mirracle.... my iphone can see wifi.
It was preamb.
While I tried to fix my router I turned it on in different sockets in my flat... This test showed me that my router started properly in one corner of my flat and didnt in another one. After that I did another one test. I turned my router with extender in the "correct" corner and then brought it to "incorrect" corner and result is My router worked fine. I think my router is workin like this because there are about 12 another wifi networks but I am not sure.
PS My iphone always can see wifi connection.

I think I've solved my problem. I read about wifi channels. The router settings were set to automatic wifi channel. So because there are many wifi networks my router detects it and chooses wifi channel which is not used near it. So I reset this setting from Automatic to direct channel 11.

I am able to change and add bookmarks, but these changes are sometimes not saved when I restart Firefox.

Since updating to Firefox 4, changes to bookmarks are saved sometimes after restart, but not usually (maybe 25% of the time). The problem sounds exactly like what is described on the [[Bookmarks not saved]] help page, yet after making all the recommended changes, the problem persists. I have also performed the recommended actions on the [[Toolbar keeps resetting]] help page, with no luck there either.
The only other thing that I can think of that may be helpful is that I use Firefox Sync between two computers, and both seem to be having this problem.

I have some more information, in case it helps. During one Firefox session, I made about 8 changes to my bookmarks.When I restarted Firefox, the first few changes I had made were saved, but the rest were not. Additionally, the favicons that were present during my last session (that I hadn't had before that session) were reverted to the default favicon. I hope this helps!

I understand how to set the restore tabs function and have done so. Usually my tabs reopen when I restart, but every once in a while if I have other windows (not tabs) open, and I forget to close them all first, before I close my main window, then when I reopen, my tabs are gone. I have gone to History and I can see the Restore Previous Session and Restore Closed Tabs commands, but they are not highlighted and they don't work. Please advise

Try using the Firefox button > Exit when you go to close Firefox, that should save all your open windows / tabs.

Your previous tabs will not re-open or be available to re-open when starting Firefox if:

I was having the same problem.... But I keep forgetting that when you upgrade firefox... or it updates automatically... you need to right click on the firefox start up icon, go into properties, click on the compatibilities tab, and put a check in the "Run This Program As An Administrator" box, then hit apply. Start Firefox, and it should work OK. Problem is...each time you upgrade firefox and/or I think Adobe flash... you need to make sure that box is checked. This is on Firefox 15.0.1 with Adobe Flash 11.4.402.278 all up to date, Windows 7 64bit. If Firefox has Adobe flash add-on, it needs to run in admin mode or it will crash.

I have seen this problem has been asked about before. However not a single solution provided has worked for me. I have no restricted data or a battery app that's affected my syncing capabilities (or any program like that for that matter). I have tried the sync now button, I've hidden the synced tabs menu and dropped it back down, I've pulled down the synced tabs menu, I've started a new Firefox instance after completely shutting it down, as well as everything else that was suggested. I've used a search engine looking for a solution and have come up with nothing. I'm running Firefox on my laptop, Android phone, as well as my Android tablet. I'm using my laptop with opened tabs. The first time I synced Firefox it worked. Every time since then (I've tried like 100 times and that's not an exaggeration) it hasn't worked on either my phone or tablet. If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

When I restart Firefox, my pinned tabs open to the last webpage that I viewed rather than the page that I originally pinned. For example, if I pinned to a local newspaper's website, navigate to espn while on the pinned tab and then close Firefox, the next time I open Firefox, the pinned tab goes to espn rather than the local newspaper's site.
Additionally, the same thing happens if I am reading an article on the pinned tab. When reopening Firefox, the pinned tab goes to the last article viewed.

That is just the way that pinned tabs are designed. They are meant to be left on the page you want them left on e.g. a web mail account.
If you want to pin a newspaper then I would pin the front page and then open any article you want to read in a new tab.
Having said that there is an addon called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-utilities/ Tab-utilities] which contains an option to automatically revert a pinned tab to the original URL.

Why is Firefox typing and cursor are slow upon a normal startup but everything works well when I restart in safe mode?

When I open FIrefox normally, the cursor movement is very jerky - seems to get stuck on every link. In addition typing in any box is delayed. When I restart with add-ons disabled and in safe mode, the cursor moves fine and typing is normal. I have disabled all my add-ons but that doesn't seem to help as each time I restart, the jerky cursor and delayed typing present again. What is wrong?

Firefox 4 mac. no save tabs when exiting/restarting

I just upgraded to firefox 4 on my mac.
I have looked in the preferences for the option to save tabs (multiple tabs) when exiting / restarting firefox.
I have found info on this for windows but not for os x.
I love and use this feature extensively. How do I get it back?
