Firefox Sync crashes on my android phone as soon as I press "Get Started"

FireFox Sync crashes on my phone (DOOGEE DAGGER DG550) when I attempt to get sync working. The button "Get Started" appears normally, but as soon as I press it, the application crashes.

Hi pitbulllady
I would suggest a) resetting the password on desktop https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information#w_iaove-forgotten-my-sync-password-ae-how-do-i-reset-it_2 and then b) trying again on your Android phone or tablet
If the above doesn't help and since we can't read minds :-) we need more troubleshooting details to help you:
# What version of Android are you using (e.g. Jellybean 4.1-4.3, Kitkat 4.4, Lollipop 5.0, 5.1, etc)?
# What version of Firefox for Android are you using? (please try the latest version which is currently FF37.0.1)
# What did you do exactly, what happened and what did you expect? (details please! including the steps in the video you followed)
Cheers!

  • How do I use Firefox Sync data from my Android phone to restore data to my desktop browser?

I was attempting to cull some history, Firefox became non-responsive and had to be force closed. When it was re-opened, all my tabs which are typically restored were missing and I did not have the option to restore the session. According to sync on my Android, the last update there was about an hour ago, which would have been before issue with the desktop browser. How can I restore my info from my phone, ensuring it is not overwritten by the lack of data now on my desktop version?

    HI Snickers,
There is an option to sync tabs. About:sync-tabs works on the desktop and can see the tabs from that device however this feature is not available for the mobile device. However from an active sync the current sessions are visible from the desktop page.
In order to restore a session you may be able to restore the session if it crashed. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1026370#answer-644109 With these instructions]

  • I reinstalled Firefox and lost bookmarks from my computer, how can I get them back (sync ?)from my android phone ?

My bookmarks are really gone from my computer but I have them in my android phone.
I've tried to use this sync but it doesn't work. How can I get them back to the computer from my android phone ?
I have checked also backup files but they are really gone.

    Hi penami,
Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you lost your bookmarks. In order to check if they are still there you can look in the profile folder on the computer [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]
As for syncing from the android, it is possible to add the account to the desktop and the two should merge.

  • Firefox sync not working with android 4.0 (ice cream sandwich)

Okay i'll try to explain this as best as i can. Over the weekend i installed the new android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich...before hand firefox sync (from my desktop to my cell phone) was working fine. I could see all of my bookmarks and all of my history. However, once i installed the new OS i was unable to see any of my information! When i go into the sync and accounts page on my android i see my FF sync account and i have told it to sync a number of times...but it still doesn't work! Also, on the main page of the FF app on my android there is no account information at the bottom on the page like there was pre 4.0 install. Is there anything i can do to fix the problem? Or will i have to re-add the account when I get back home from being out of town?

Hard to say. Most of my experience has been with the Thunderbolt and I don't know anything about the Stratosphere. Part of it will probably depend on the manufacturer, Verizon and what phone you have. Some manufacturers get updates out faster than others. Then Verizon may hold on to it until they test it, which may not matter much judging by the Thunderbolt releases. And also, some phones will get it before others. Which phones come before others may not make sense to anyone except the manufacturer and Verizon and maybe not them. Sometimes it seems more like a lottery. I'm only guessing that the newer, dual core phones will probably get it first since I think ICS is suppose to run better on them. I could be wrong, and often am, but I'm not expecting the Bolt to get it, but I've retired mine anyway.
Verizon will usually put out a notice when it's planning on releasing an upgrade for your phone and if you follow any Android forums, most of them will post it also, so it's not usually a secret. . The last updates the Bolt got were pushed to us if we didn't download it first. The only way not to get it seemed to be if you happened to be watching when it started so you could stop it, but since you have to sleep sometime, eventually you'd get it whether you wanted it or not. Not sure if that will be the case with ICS though.
They might surprise us and get it out this month, or as AZSALUKI said, 2-3 months. You can hope for sooner, but expecting later will decrease your stress levels.

  • Firefox Sync crashes

    Hi!
My Firefox popups the following error since 3 or 4 days: http://snag.gy/VDidk.jpg
It says: 'Error while syncing. Unkown error. Sync will try again.' And the link to https://services.mozilla.com/status/
The Mozilla link says Sync operates normally. My Sync do not operate normally since 4 days.
    It's pretty annoying.
I did not change my computer, my password or username, I did change nothing. It worked until a week ago.
    Thanks for your help!

hello vilmos.nagy, that's an issue known to mozilla engineers who are currently working on a fix (the problem is on the server-side, so there's nothing you can change on your end). for progress on the issue you can follow or vote for [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1045691 bug #1045691].

  • Firefox 17 crashes several times a day since installation. Can I get some help please?????

Since I installed Firefox 17 a couple of weeks ago (I was refusing to update for a long time, and now I see for a good reason!) - it has been crashing several times a day, every day. I can't do my work with my internet crashing on me every several minutes and so if this can't be stopped, I'm switching to internet explorer.
Is this a well known issue? how can I fix it quickly (without taking my whole PC apart) ?
    any ideas?
    thanks

I have also been having this problem, today I have had to sign into Google Chrome just so I can hopefully stay in the internet for more than 5 mins, so far I have sent out 15 crash reports and haven't even been online for 1 hour,
Here is just one of the crash reports
    bp-01bb7-0d86-48cb-a309-2c9b12121216
I think the longest I was able to stay on Firefox this morning was 3 whole mins. Getting really frustrated about it all now.

  • New installation of Firefox on a new PC locks up as soon as the search bar starts to auto-complete

I have just installed Firefox 6.02 on a new Dell Vostro 3550.
Install went fine, but Firefox is completely unusable.
when typing in either bar, as soon as auto-complete starts to suggest, Firefox locks up.
I did not import any bookmarks.
I have not set up sync.
I did not install any add-ons.

    Update:
I can only get Firefox to work with Add-ons disabled.
I have no add-ons installed so I am not sure why this makes a difference...
    Update 2:
I figured out a workaround, but not necessarily the cause.
The work around is to disable hardware acceleration (Options->Advanced).
The cause appears to be related to the switchable graphics on this Dell notebook, Intel Core i5 with AMD HD 6630M.

I just bought a new laptop and was trying to sync the bookmarks from my old one to my new. They both are running the same version of firefox and have been using the new sync. However, when I logged in nothing happened. All my info doesn't transfer.

  • Can I sync Photoshop photos with tags to Android phone

Can I sync Photoshop photos with tags to Android phone

The easiest method is to get the free Picasa which works well alongside elements and will index everything on your hard drive automatically. Elements tags and captions will show up in Google Picasa and you can sync via an Android app on your phone.

  • Bookmarks don't sync from PC to myAndroid phone or tablet.

    version 32.0.2
FF on PC, tablet & phone are all up to date.
New sync is being used on all 3 devices.
FF says sync is working, but:
the only bookmarks that sync are from my android phone to android tablet.
Nearly all of my bookmarks (thousands) are on my desktop PC Firefox.
How can I get my PC's FF bookmarks to sync onto my phone & tablet?

Also, the bookmarks on my PC were partially corrupted by the sync process. I just had to restore an old set of bookmarks & overwrite them onto my PC. I really don't want to risk having this happen again.
I am primarily on my desktop PC - that is my primary unit. This list of bookmarks should be available on FF for android on my phone and tablet.
Any advice about making this work, without risking the corruption of my main bookmark list again?
    Thank you!

  • I'm having problems with firefox sync

Firefox sync is driving me nuts. I have a Samsung Galaxy 5 player with firefox installed. I've set up an account with firefox sync. On my android player, I tell firefox to sync up. It asks me to enter a code on my computer. On my computer, Firefox/Tools/Options/Sync, There are only two text links: "Set up firefox sync" and "Pair a device". I've already done the setup, so if I click on "Pair a device", it asks for the code. I enter the code that's displayed on my android device.
At this point, it takes me again to the setup screen to create or sign into an account, WHICH I'VE ALREADY DONE, many times. I click on "I have an account". It brings me to the Sign In page. Part of the sign in is it asks me for a recover key (WHY????). Instructions: "You can get a copy of your recovery key by going to sync options on your other device" (what other device - my android player?) "and selecting 'my recovery key' under 'manage account'."
No such options exist in the sync settings on my android player.
    Can anyone help me?

    Hi enchant!
I'm sorry to read that you are having difficulties to login to Firefox Sync.
What it is happening right now is that you are trying to log-in to your old account and trying to recover the data from the previous syncs (that's what the recovery key is for). Your data is encrypted with the key and it's not accessible if you don't have it anymore.
If you don't care about it (and that's what I'm reading) you can simply reset the Recovery Key and sync the data that you have in the Android today and the Desktop browser. You can learn how to do it in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information#w_ive-lost-my-recovery-key
Let me know if this helps.

  • Why can't you guys keep FireFox from crashing? I need this browser for my College Courses and this is making me angry because it's putting me behind.

It seems like every day I have to restart my computer because Firefox's consistency for staying up and running properly is a complete failure. This is unacceptable; I have College courses that I take online and every time the Firefox browser crashes I lose work and when I lose work I get bad grades in school because you have failed your duty to maintain a browser that you also had to earn a degree to get the job. I'm very distraught over this and I'm very close to using a new browser if you don't square this away like yesterday. Not only do I get bad grades I also have to pay the school back the money if I fail. If I fail this course because you didn't do your job I'm going to make you pay the school back for my trouble.

Could you spend a day using Firefox in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. If there are some extensions you cannot live without, see the suggestion after the break. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?
Alternately, try a couple of the things Safe Mode does for you:
    (1) Disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This will take effect the next time you exit and start Firefox up again.
    (2) Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Hopefully this will minimize the potential causes of instability.

  • [solved] My udev rule for my Android phone doesn't work, not sure why

I have the HTC G1 Android phone and I'm trying to get a udev rule working for it.  This is my rule ...
    /etc/udev/rules.d/50-android.rules
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0bb4", MODE="0666", NAME=="android"
    ... but when I connect my phone, /dev/android doesn't appear.  0bb4 is correct ...
    /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev5.2/device/idVendor
    0bb4
    ... so what's going on?

There is, but I can already use it that way.  I'm learning how to code in java so I can develop applications for it.  There's a feature in the SDK where you can install and run your code on your Android device fairly seamlessly.  You literally hit "Run" and a few moments later, your phone's going to town.  But for this to work, permissions need to be set (0666).  But my udev rule does nothing and I dont understand why.
This is where I got this information: http://code.google.com/android/intro/de … cehardware
