Firefox Sync custom server fails - invalid HTTPS certificate

Windows XP SP3, Firefox 3.6.8.
Using a custom Sync server, the Weave minimal server written by Toby Elliot. Firefox Sync 1.4.4 extension is crapping out at the setup stage.
I've got a self-signed SSL certificate behind my web server, since it's for my personal use. I have the Sync extension on a couple of other Firefox installations, grandfathered through a few versions since Weave. Those extensions work and I can sync, no problem.
So the problem is not with my server itself, or with my username, or with my password. As I said, all three work fine with other Firefox installs.
This new setup process won't let me get past the "invalid HTTPS cert" error. Must I sign my cert with a certificate authority of my own, or will even that be marked as invalid?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

This can be fixed by browsing to the site and accepting the cert first but on my HTC incredible the buttons are off the screen and I can't scroll to them.....MOZILLA Please help!
Thanks and keep up the good work,
Peter

  • Firefox sync error server incorrectly configured

The very first time I loaded firefox on my laptop (which i bought only a couple months ago) the syncing worked just fine.
After i dont know how much time i started getting errors that the syncing was failing. I tried to reconfigure the syncing properties but started getting the error server incorrectly configured. I scoured the net looking for answers following all the troubleshooting that I could find.
One thing I notice is that when i choose I have an account it is supposed to load a key that i can use on my already synced devices but that never actually populates and it immediately kicks me to the user name password and sync key screen. This issue remained throughout the duration of all the troubleshooting below. Additionally I cant even create a new sync account on that pc as it fails everytime.
I have done the following in a effort to resolve this issue.
I created a new sync account using one of my other pcs
I added a pc that was never on the sync account to it to verify it does it fact sync
i uninstalled firefox 4 separate times deleting all the folders and even as far as the registry keys
i tried using a lan connection vs wifi
    i updated windows
    My computer;
I have a lenovo ideapad with windows 7 and 8 gigs of ram with a amd processor

please help I have spent countless hours trying to fix this.

One addition note: in my own situation, I checked my about:config and saw my sync server's URL (https://scl2-sync42.services.mozilla.com/ ). I entered it into my address bar and got the following message:
"server issue: database is not healthy"
(quotes were included) I've seen no mention of such a phrase in a Google search, so I assume that no one else has reported any such thing.
Going into my about:config, I deleted the URL and it synced just fine!

  • How to delete every data on firefox sync's server ??

Just want to take back every data I sent by mistake registering firefox Sync's account.
I think that with the old old version it was possible access to every data on the server an d manage it..
If I'm right It was possible here : https://account.services.mozilla.com/
But I can not access, it doesn't reconize my mail adress. Means only old version can access and I may suppose that there is another one for the last version..
    Thanks to amswering!

  • Sync custom server no URL field

In "Set up Sync" Window, "Create a new account" then server: "Select a custom server" -> No field displayed to input server URL. It may be relevant that I get an "unable to read from file" message from FF at startup time.

I have WSGI set up and followed the how-to, but one thing I didn't find clear: if I have built the server in the default folder name of "server-full", where do I point the document-root? What I want to do is copy the required files to the virtual server's root folder but I can't find anything which tells me which files are required for runtime, as opposed to build. Does that make sense?
AFAICS, FF is looking for the user.py file but the only instances of that are buried in the "deps" and "local" subfolders of "server-full".

  • Trying to load a secure website, firefox says "Secure Connection Failed: Peer's certificate has an invalid signature."

I need to get on this website, which only allows Firefox and Safari for Mac OSX, but since I upgraded to the latest Firefox update, this is the message I get:
    Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to teleserve.dlt.ri.gov.
Peer's certificate has an invalid signature.
    (Error code: sec_error_bad_signature)
    Help!

The site doesn't seem to be sending the correct intermediate certificate.
You can install this VeriSign intermediate certificate that works for me.

  • Is there a way to remotely remove an Android device from Firefox sync?

I don't currently have access to my Android device that has the Firefox app with Firefox Sync linked to my desktop browser. Is there a way to remotely unlink the Android app?

No, you will have to change the password of your sync account and re-add all other devices.

  • Invalid URL Errors when trying to access custom Sync Server(rev 532) from Firefox 17.0 for Android via HTTPS

I currently have Sync Server(rev 532) installed on FreeBSD-STABLE(stable/9) and have Firefox 17 on Mac OS X and Windows XP sync successfully.
But when I try to pair Firefox 17.0 for Android by entering 3 rows of 4 letter codes into Firefox on Desktop, the sync never ends on Android, although the Sync account gets listed in "Settings> Accounts & sync> Firefox Sync".
If I try to pair the Android with advanced setting (using the Recovery Key), I get "Please enter valid server URL" after entering custom server URL (I tried mozsync.mydomain.tld, https://mozsync.mydomain.tld, https://mozsync.mydomain.tld/) along with my account information.
I had my Sync Server listen on HTTPS only, but if I setup my server on HTTP, everything works as expected.
The content of log file for SSL connection only includes the logs from my Desktop and none from my Android device.
Direct access from Firefox for Android to "https://mozsync.mydomain.tld/weave-delete-account" succeeds, and this connection gets logged.
My device is HTC Evo 4G (named HTC EVO WiMAX ISW11HT in Japan) with officially updated of version Android (2.3.4 Gingerbread :P) by HTC.
I currently have my Sync Server listening on HTTP, but I am little uncomfortable with my syncing datas being tranmitted without SSL.
    Any help is appreciated!!!

I have filed a bug [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=819762 here] at bugzilla.
    Any help is still appreciated!!!
    Edit:
The bug was filed as duplicate of [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756763 this].
It turned out the CA, which issued my certificate, was not bundled and importing SSL is broken in early version of Android.
    Same applies to self-signed certificates.
Maybe the solution is to update the Android version by rooting the phone, which is not my choice.
I'm closing my question as solved, because the root of the problem is not Firefox.

  • How do I set the "When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid" in Firefox for Android?

Due to the security concerns from Heartbleed and Steve Gibson's excellent coverage on certification revocation, I have set "When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid" on my desktop Firefox and now want to do the same on Firefox for Android. I cannot find anything in the settings menu to allow this. Is it done through about:config and if so, what is the setting name there?

hello mcvickerp, in about:config you can switch the setting "security.OCSP.require" to true.

Right on - I have done that a number of times.

  • What certificates does Firefox sync (for Android) use to connect to the server?

I removed all of the CA and root authorities and would like to know which one I need to put back in order to use sync? A Few of them looked like they could stay, but there were to many that looked like just anyone could install a certificate on my tablet.
So, I would like the entity name and sha (s) encryption keys so I can reactvate yours. Thank you.

The technical information about the Authentication Server is documented: [https://wiki.mozilla.org/Identity/Firefox-Accounts#Auth_Server]
Certificate Signing process specifically is done with this part of the api: [https://github.com/mozilla/fxa-auth-server/blob/master/docs/api.md#post-v1certificatesign] - I assume you would generate them there.

  • Verification Failed. The certificate for this server is invalid

I am trying to backup my iPad to iCloud.  I get:
Verification Failed.  The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "setup.icloud.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.
I am logged onto the wifi at work and I can surf the Internet so the connection is OK.
How do I begin to debug this issue?

    Hey everyone,
I had this issue for few months already! I have a @me.com mail address, theoretically should be compatible with iCloud, just for some reason, it's not working!!
The mail all work fine on my macbook and iPhone, just the ipad kept showing the error message, the "verification failed".
The internet is wi-fi and it all working fine.
    Now here is the solution.
Make sure you got internet connected fine.
Go Setting --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Add Account --> Other
    --> Add Mail Address -->
in the description, it will auto showing "Me", don't change it!
    Go "Next" -->
    in the Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name --> Type "imap.mail.me.com"
Then your user name and password
    in the Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name --> Type "smtp.mail.me.com"
Then your user name and password
    Then next and save it.
This should work, it works for me,
    Hope this helps!!

  • Verification failed certificate for this server is invalid

I attempt to log into the iCloud on my iPod over a WiFi connection and it gives me the Verification Failed. The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "setup.icloud.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.
Why am I getting this and how can I access the iCloud to backup my files?

This happened to me because my router was configured to use Open DNS servers (Primary 208.67.222.222, Secondary 208.67.220.220). Temporarily adjusting the DNS settings on the router to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 did the trick. Open DNS does weird things with certain certificates. Even if your router is configured to used something else, try the ones listed above to see if it makes a difference.
