Firefox sync doesn't sync across computers

I have set up firefox sync across home and work computers, but the info is not synching.. passwords, bookmars, history.. nothing. In the options->synch tab everything is ok.. green tickmarks in front of everything, yet it is not synching..
Any ideas?
Also.. is there any way to manually force the data to sync? Like in xmarks?

When you create a new Profile you need to '''Set Up Sync''' in that new Profile.

  • Firefox Sync Doesn't Sync Addons

I have sync setup on my computer with everything checked. Then i paired my laptop to my main computer with sync. but now whenever i sync my computers it doesn't update my laptops addons and then uninstall addons on my main computer.
    any ideas?

Did you enable the Add-on sync on all devices? Add-on Sync is disabled by default so if you haven't then you'll need to enable it on each device.
''Firefox > Options > In the Sync My section, check the box next to add-ons on each of your computers

  • Address Book Sync with Google Contacts across computers (instead of iCloud with Lion)?

I am trying to get ready for the port to iCloud and i am going to do this while still on Snow Leopard per Roger Wilmut's fantastic documentation. It appear to me I will simply lose Bookmark Sync (until I move to Mountail Lion) which is a small(ish) price to pay to not have to deal with an upgrade at the moment.
The question I am hoping to answer is if it will be possible to SYNC MY CONTACTS across my devices (MacBookPro, MacPro and iPhone) using the Sync with Google Contacts Option in Address Book Preferences.
Does anyone know if checking this option will put these contacts on both of my Machines and on my iPhone?
ALSO, does anyone know if it is possible to put the ADDRESS BOOK CONTACTS in one folder and the GOOGLE CONTACTS in another folder so they don't all get mixed up together?
    TIA

I can't even get manual Google syncing to work with iCloud enabled. Without iCloud, everything works fine.

  • Firefox Sync doesn't sync bookmarks between smartphone and tablet.Works fine between desktop and mobiles.

I have a desktop, smartphone and tablet. They all have the latest FX35.They are all signed in and connected to Sync.Sync is the latest version and it works with email and password, instead of pins.On all devices, Sync is configured to sync all items(bookmarks, tabs etc).
When I enabled Sync on smartphone and tablet, they got my desktop's bookmarks without a problem. They appear in a folder named desktop bookmarks. All the changes reflect properly between smartphone-desktop and tablet-desktop, but, the bookmarks do not sync between smartphone-tablet.
When I open a tab on the smartphone, after a while it appear on tablet's Synced Tabs page.Vice verse is true also.So at least some syncing exists between smartphone-tablet.
Is it possible to create a bookmark on smartphone and have it appear on the tablet and vice verse, just like the synced tabs work ? I tried deleting the sync account and creating a new one, but I still don't see my smartphone's bookmarks on the tablet.
It would be even better if there was an option to choose which device can override another device's bookmarks.I don't really need desktop bookmarks on smartphone, but I'm too scared to delete them.I'm afraid it will also delete them from desktop... ?
    Thanks.

    HI GeorgePeterson:
So "new" aka "Firefox Accounts based sync" syncs desktop<->tablet and desktop<->phone but not phone<->tablet. Hmmm I actually have tested this S5<->Nexus 5<->desktop (Mac) and it worked.
    soooo the big question :-)
    # What desktop OS version (e.g. Mac OS X 10.10, 10.8, Windows (Windows 7, 8), Ubutuntu crafty codger ), what tablet and OS version(e.g. Nexus 7 2013, Android 5 Lollipop), what phone (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2)
    I will re-test too!
    Cheers!
    ...Roland

  • Sync doesn't sync, it just adds

I've yet to find an explanation of how sync is supposed to work. But after some fits and starts, I apparently have two computers "syncing." But it doesn't really sync bookmarks; it simply adds the two sets of bookmarks, hundreds of which are duplicates. They're in folders that have the same name with the same urls bookmarked. There's just two of them.
    That's not really "syncing."

You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Sync doesn't sync recent history, it just syncs whatever it wants

Android and desktop have firefox 16.0.2 and so there is no problem with different versions and different formats or whatever the difference are.
It syncs to my desktop properly I guess, I don't check everything to make sure it syneced everything so i don't know but I think on my desktop there is no problem.
The problem is that on Android the sync is just not working. I synced it many times after I sycned on my desktop and it doesn't transfer the sites i visited recently but only part of them, maybe several pages. Seems like it has a mind of its own in that it transfer what it wants and what it doesn't it simply does not sync...
    Help?

iSync is only for syncing to non-Apple mobile phones via a Bluetooth or USB connection, and does give an error message if it cannot sync to the device it it trying to sync to.
If you are syncing using MobileMe and not syncing with a non-Apple mobile phone, then this forum is not applicable to your problem.
The only connection iSync has with syncing to MobileMe is providing a button in its preferences which allows you to Reset Sync History...

  • Firefox sync is not sync after login details entered

I recently formatted my pc, installed firefox, entered my firefox sync info, but no joy, firefox sync doesn't sync my bookmarks and other data, nothing happens or shows!!! useless

hello NissiBloem, firefox sync is not designed as a backup service but to keep multiple devices on the same level.
in order to access the data in your sync account you'd need three components: the '''username''', the '''password '''& the '''recovery key''' generated during the original setup of the account (you're prompted to print it/save it/write it down while setting it up).
in case you have all those three pieces of information available, you can go to ''firefox > options > sync > set-up sync > i have an account > i don't have the device with me'' in order to link firefox to your account.

Firefox sync is not syncing my bookmarks across computers I have set up for firefox sync

Same problem here... First i had to update my firefox to the shittest new version which i hate... The more firefox desktop updates the worse it gets. I'm still using firefox 28 cause its the best version ever...

  • I want to sync mail on a few computers but Firefox sync does not appear in the tools menu. Do I need to download and install syncing tool? Thanx

Also, bear in mind, please that at home I use Mac and in the office Win 7. I'd like to be able to sync my emails on both computers and my netbook which I use when travelling.
    Thanx
    Dean

Firefox doesn't do email, thus Firefox Sync has no features for email.
If you are accessing your email thru Firefox, you are using web mail. By default most email portals keep your email until you delete it. You should be able to access your email from anywhere - not device dependent.

  • I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices?

I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices? I thought that was the point of iCloud. Any suggestions since iCloud doesn't seem to work?

It's a work computer so I wanted to save them to my iTunes so I can access from another computer.  Should I go to a home computer and just Import for best results?  If so how do I do this?  Also, why would I be synched with another library and how do I find out what this is?  Very new/green user here

  • Firefox doesn't sync however all settings seem te be good

I have three computers (all win 8.1) a use the updated versions of firefox. All three computers are connected with the same firefox account, but yet they to not sync.

Type '''about:sync-log''' in the Location bar and hit Enter.
View the latest logs in a text program.
You can copy and paste logs here - http://pastebin.mozilla.org/ - and then provide the URL here for us to view those logs. We might be able to identify the problem.
Also let us know what types of data is selected to be sync'd on each device. Like '''''add-ons''''', '''''Bookmarks''''', etc.

  • Where do I find the "On My Mac" mailbox files and can I Sync them across computers?

I want to find out if I can sync them across computers and have the files show up on my desktop and my notebook.

Here's where mine seem to be:
    Macintosh HD > Users > (MyName) > Library > Mail > V2 > Mailboxes > (etc.)
Not sure if yours are there.  I haven't tried syncing them between computers with a program such as Chronosync but it may work.
    Maybe this helps.

  • Firefox Sync doesn t work

Firefox sync doesn t work :( I created a new profile but i have problem when i try to log in..it says "Incorrect username or password" while on the web site (https://account.services.mozilla.com/) i log in normally...What' s the problem? Can you help me?
    Thanks :)

When you create a new Profile you need to '''Set Up Sync''' in that new Profile.

  • Firefox Sync doesn't save all my browser history it only seems to save a few entrieswhen I sync to a new profile

I don't know if only saves after a certain amount of time if does is there a work around to this.

The history can be quite large, normally around 100,000 pages as you can see in the places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages pref on the <b>about:config</b> page.
It would take quite some time and a lot of storage space on the Sync server and it would affect Firefox's performance to sync that much data.
That is why the amount of history that is shared is limited.
You could copy the places.sqlite file to other devices to have all the history and if necessary restore the bookmarks from compressed .jsonlz4 backup.

  • Firefox freezes after turning sync on

    Hello
I have a strange problem that is driving me crazy for some time now (from firefox 5)
I am using firefox on two computers (pc and a mac(both windows and mac os)) which I guess makes 3 sync devices. I have a standard setup on all of those, no super fancy extensions. Only adblock, firegestures, scryptish and such and I've been using them for quite some time.
From firefox version 4 I decided to move from xmarks to firefox sync. Initially I had no problems but since version 5 something went wrong. All my firefox installations started to freeze for 2-3 seconds few times a minute. Clearing the profiles, reinstalations do nothing. Later on I found out that all this starts when I enable syncing. If I install all my stuff but leave sync off firefox works well. If I just turn it on freezes come back. I decided to delete my sync account and make a new one (was thinking about some corrupted preferences) and to be safe I synced only bookmarks, passwords and history. I left preferences unchecked. Obviously before doing that I cleared profiles on all my browers + did uninstall. After basically starting my firefox network from scratch everything was fine ... for a week. Now problem is back and I don't know what to do. Starting firefox in safe mode seems to help tho. Any ideas how to fix or debug this?
EDIT: Forgot to add that disabling sync doesn't help
    Victor

The "solution" reported in [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=670064#c12 bug 670064 comment 12] was, <br>'''Quote:'''<br>''I then used the Clear Recent History feature to delete all of my history, and then i unticked the History option in Sync preferences. Since then, the problem has disappeared. I also have not been able to reproduce a lock-up on any version or machine that didn't involve history synching having been activated at some point or another ...''
My guess is that something was corrupting the browsing history (which is stored in the file'' places.sqlite'', along with bookmarks). If the problem resurfaces, I would try using the [[Clear Recent History]] feature to clear everything from browsing history and unsync History, as in the bug report comment (you could later re-sync History to see what happens).
