There are more people there that actually use Firefox Sync and occasionally one of the Mozilla Labs developers answers user questions in that forum.
I tried that extension about a year ago, and over the few months I used it I realized that I didn't like the direction that the development was headed. IMO, the features are too limited and they (Labs management and the developers) are intent on "dumbing-down" the UI to appeal to the "unwashed masses", which IMO doesn't make that service suitable for intermediate and power users. IMO they are mimicking Opera and aren't talking into account that Firefox has many more "power users" than Opera does, IMO.

Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items. Am I missing something obvious?

In the good old days of Snow Leopard, an open Finder folder had a border along the bottom of the window which could show the number of items in that window and the total available space on the hard disk or partition that folder resides on. That bottom border is gone in Lion and those two bits of information are gone with it. Is that what you're talking about? My Firefox has spontaneously (apparently) decided not to show the task bar at the bottom of the screen (the margin is there, but it is blank), and some menu bars have been messed up. Perhaps the most annoying aspect of these changes is the fact that I have to use alt-tab to move from a Firefox session to another session.
I can find no way to fix these problems. Can you help? Am I going to have to uninstall and re-install Firefox in order to get back to the default settings? If so, is there any way to preserve my bookmarks?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F). 
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. 
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

The "System Tray" is located at the very bottom right of your screen and is a list of most/all running applications that will show in this list.
For your SysFader issue, this "may" be the problem:
1 Find the "My Computer" desktop icon and right-click it. A pull-down menu will appear. Select "Properties."
2 Click on the "Advanced" tab. This will load a new page of options.
3 Select the "Visual Effects" tab at the top of the window and deselect "Animate Windows when minimizing and maximizing," "Fade or slide menus into view," "Fade or slide Tool Tips into view" and "Fade out Menu items after checking."
4 Click "OK." This will remove most if not all of the Sysfader effects, at the same time correcting related errors that used to come up during opening a new file or program.

The icon for Airplay no longer shows up when I hit the button at the bottom of the homepage. It previously did. Same thing for my iPad.

Make sure your phone is running the same iOS or higher as the one you backed up. If not, first update the phone. Then try restoring the backup again by going to Settings>General>Reset and tapping Erase All Content and Settings. This will bring you back to the setup screens where you will be given the option to Restore from iCloud Backup again.

When detaching attachments from incoming messages, they no longer alwasy show at the bottom of the email.

Detach All now removes the list of attachments from the bottom of the message - sometimes.... Any clues as to how to prevent this, or retrieve the list of files?

This function is still in Mail 3.x, but only for image files such as JPEG, TIFF, PSD, etc, and not such files as PDF. It was never intended for this feature to apply to PDF, but in Mail 2.x it could, but then changed the file type to JPEG, which was problematic. In Leopard and Mail 3, the Image Size selection cannot be applied to PDF. So the size advisory is also not available when attaching PDF.
Attach a JPEG, for example, and you will still see the button menu. The running size of the message, if image files are attached is still there.

My blue task/status bar at the bottom of the page is no longer visible. How do I turn that back on? The status bar feature under view does display it.

For some reason the blue status/task bar that would normally display at the bottom of the webpage (shows time, etc.) is no longer visible. I do not know how it got turned off and going to view-status bar simply enables a gray bar to display that says "done". I have searched using terms like "display task bar", etc and nothing comes up but view- status bar.

That is the Windows Taskbar and not part of Firefox.
The Firefox Status Bar shows messages like Looking up and Waiting for and loading and Done.
If you do not see that Taskbar with Firefox closed then you may have hidden it.
Try to move the mouse at the bottom and see if you can pull it up with the left mouse button pressed.
If the Taskbar disappear if you open Firefox the check the Properties of the Taskbar to make sure that it is always visible.

When I mouse over a hyperlink on a page in 4.0, I can no longer view the URL address in a narrow horizontal bar at the bottom of the page, nor view the "load progress" of the URL when I click on it ... which I could formerly see in the same narrow bar.

In Firefox 3.6 and previous, I could always view the URL of an embedded hyperlink by mousing over the link and checking a narrow horizontal field at the bottom of the web page. When clicked on, that hyperlink would begin loading the desired page, and I could watch as Firefox logged on to the remote server ... at least to the extent of knowing that the server had been contacted and that the page was loading. It's like "flying blind" now -- I can't view either of those things.

Firefox 4.0b7 eliminated the Status bar, it is replaced by the Add-on bar. When you mouse-over a hyperlink, the URL appears in the Location bar to the right of the current URL in slightly faint type. The page loading indicator is on the left side of the Tab, but it doesn't show the progress as before, only that the page is loading (or not).
You can restore the functions of the old Statusbar with the '''Status4Evar''' extension. The three Statusbar items are in the Customize Palette.

Remember any restoring of bookmarks overwrites whatever he current set is, and you may not want to loose them.
Even if up until now you have not made any backups of Desktop bookmarks Firefox will have backed up some of them into sets of daily bookmark backups. Once you have backed up your current set you could look at what it has by restoring those bookmarks, you may find one of those sets is fairly complete.
By the way if you look at the profile files and folders that you should now have on the desktop you should see it contains a bookmarks backup folder, the size of the files within should indicate whether they contain anything.
You need to go into the bookmarks library and try the restore option. Backup each set that you look at if it has anything of use in it, before trying the next set. With look one of those will be a fairly complete set of bookmarks.

I do not use Firefox on mobiles, but before you try anything further you do need to backup the desktop bookmarks and learn what existing backups you have. Unless you master that you are in continual danger of overwriting and loosing bookmarks.

With Firefox 35.0 maximized, my windows taskbar does not appear when I move the curser ot the bottom of the screen

With all other applications running maximized (full screen) the Windows taskbar pops up from the bottom when the cursor is moved to the bottom of the screen, but now with Firefox. Why not, and how do I fix this?

Are you in fullscreen or maximized for Firefox?
There is an entry that show toolbars when in fullscreen you can check if its on in the about:config page, but if you have never been there before do not worry about this troubleshooting step. (I do not know if you have or not :-))

i had to take my photoshop file into a hardrive because my dad was going to give me a new Mac and when things didn't work out and went back to my old one i use the time capsule thing to save everything before but didn't give me photoshop so i physically moved the file and tried to open it but then this error shows up

When my husband and I try to share our libraries and import from each others libraries, we get as far as seeing the library on the screen. The next step is to look for the 'Show' menu at the bottom of the screen, but neither of us has any such thing. ?
