Firefox Sync settings lost when closing Firefox 4.0 RC

i have upgraded 2 PC's from Firefox 3.6 to Firefox 4.0 RC. The first installation is on a PC with Windows XP. Here everything works fine and Firefox Sync is active. Second installation is on a Laptop with Windows 7 SP1 64bit. Here i have to attach Firefox Sync to my account each tme i open Firefox (in the options screen i don't see "Manage Acount" but "Setup Sync"). I even tried to run Firefox with admin rights to ensure write access to my drive, but this didn't helped too.

Sorry to hear that Firefox is losing your Sync account. Have you installed Firefox for Android on an SD card? We are tracking reports like yours at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=768102. We think that Android itself is deleting accounts when the Firefox app is installed on the SD card. Can you check if Firefox is installed on an SD card?

If your Macbook is properly configured already you can access Preferences and then Sync tab. From there, click on the Manage Account drop down and select Recovery Key.

Flicker Filter Settings Lost when I re-open file

I have created a sequence consisting of 2 video layers and about 30 cuts. Because it consists of Flash-generated 2D animation, it was necessary for me to apply the ANTI FLICKER FILTER to every single shot to reduce the flicker.
For some reason, even though I am saving the file properly with the flicker filter info intact, every time I open the file again, most or all of my sequences revert back to no filtering - the flicker filter is GONE.
And here's the irony: the previously rendered (GREEN LINE) sequences are now RED LINED - but when I reassign the filter exactly as it was when I saved the file, THEY USUALLY TURN GREEN AGAIN.
Has anyone run into this before? Is there a fix/workaround?

A file that stores details of sessions may be corrupt, delete the file to see if it helps. This file will be re-created when you next start Firefox.
Open the profile folder, for details of how to do that see the [[profiles]] article. Close Firefox then in the profile folder delete sessionstore.js and if it exists sessionstore.bak

It would be very useful, yes, but I do not know of any official document.
But from experimenting I found, that the preferences file contains
all settings you set from the Preferences panel (surprise, surprise)
the "recent directory" lists
the path to your Aperture library
the layout of the GUI
I always keep the original preferences file for reference, when I need to delete it. You can read the preferences file with Xcode, a free download from the AppStore and check the older settings.

P.S. It is far easier to say what is not in the "Preferences" file: All settings that you find in "Your User Library > Application Support > Aperture", but you probably know all that

VS 2013 - Settings lost when creating new project

I am having this is odd issue with my VS 2013 settings. I setup VS 2013 with all my custom settings and colors. I can open and existing project and my settings with be there. If I create a new project all my settings are gone. I
backed them up so I can import them and everything looks correct again. Is there something I need to do to make the settings permanent?

Like Kulasangar's suggestion, the real issue would be related to how you custom settings and colors in your VS IDE. For example, generally some settings under TOOLS->Options->font and Color or color theme like the following screen shot in
VS IDE, it would be saved to your current VS settings file, so it still have the same feature if you create a new project with the same settings.
But certain settings just were used for your current projects, I mean that they are not saved to your current VS settings file. So it would change to the previous settings if you create a new project. So you would check the
real settings file and make sure that which settings are saved to this file.
Or you didn't enable the settings when you export the settings file, so it would have this issue when you use this settings file next time.

Fluid grid layout lost when closing and reopening Dreamweaver

I am working on fluid grid layout in dreamweaver cc. I created a new dreamweaver site, created a fluid grid layout page and everything looked and worked as it should. I closed out of dreamweaver and when I reopened it, I could no longer see the fluid grid layout or the fluid grid handles on any of the divs. I also no longer had the little button in the toolbar next to the live button either, to toggle the fluid layout on and off. I did not move the css or js from where dreamweaver originally stored them.
Also checked the content and code of my files, everything looks as it should:
The fluid grid layout style sheet IS attached to the page.
The Fluid Grid Properties near the top of the style sheet ARE still there.
I have tried several test sites and as soon as I close DW and reopen it, the fluid grid layout button is gone, as is are the visual aids. I uninstalled and reinstalled dreamweaver to no avail.
Very frustrating!

Thank you for all the responses. When I was doing the testing, I didn't touch any of the style sheets. I just created a new site, created a new FGL page, saved everything, then closed out. When I reopened, the FGL elements were not there. So in taking Ken's suggestion, I was getting ready to upload the files to see if anyone could see what I was doing wrong. I had named the file test.html so I did a 'save as', to save it as index.html to make it easier. Then a strange thing happened. The new 'index.html' page came in with the FGL elements! When I looked at the test.html, they still were not there. In doing additional testing, when I open the first file, whether test.html or index.html, no FGL functions are available, when I open the second one, again no matter whether test.html or index.html, they are. Getting ready to throw my hands up... I uploaded everything to:

Directly under there is the css file called fgltest.css, along with the boilerplate.css, respond.min.js, index,html, and test.html.
Don't know what is going on. I am new to fluid grid layouts, but not to dreamweaver, have been using it for years. Unless someone can see something that I cannot, seems like the only way I can create a Fluid grid layout based on this new information, is to open one page and work on another...

Monitor settings lost when switching user accounts.

Hi! I just recently noticed that every time i switch user accounts, my monitor settings get corrupted.
There are 2 user accounts in my ibook. One account is used for work while the other one is used for home purposes. The work account has a specific monitor setting which is calibrated to our workstations. The other account has default settings on it.
My question is that when I switch users, the settings for my work account gets corrupted. I also can't change the settings without having to restart the book.
I already repaired permissions and zapped the pram. The same thing still happens.

I've had this problem too. Like you, I managed to navigate to do a restart, but nothing else would make the mouse cursor reappear.
Bruce, I wasn't using Biggy, PinPoint or any of the other mouse visibility things, simply the magnification provided by System Preferences.
I put it down to a fault on 10.4.4—a very buggy release— and haven't yet been able to reproduce it on 10.4.5.
I suggest you send a fault report to Apple ([email protected]), explaining all the circumstances. Try always undoing the cursor zoom before switching users (yes, that's a pain too!!!). And if I manage to reproduce the problem, I promise I'll send in a fault report too!

Sync settings lost after Snow Leopard upgrade

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I wanted to sync my iPhone with iTunes again.
But all settings were gone!
Do I have to re-set everything, or is there a way to retrieve the previous settings?
(I made a SuperDuper! clone of my computer's HD before the upgrade.)

IPhone settings lost when the battery is flat

I've had this problem 3 times by now.
I leave my iPhone 4 on the desk at night when it is low battery. And next morning... of course the battery is flat because I didn't put it back to charge...
Anyway, the problem comes when I get my battery back to 100% and I turn on my iPhone...
I realize then that the calendar is back to 1st january 1970, and when I try to open any app that didn't come with the iOS 4.2.1, I just can't open it... It's like the iOs doesn't recognize the apps installed. So i have to synchronize back my iPhone iwth iTunes to get the apps running again...
Does someone know a solution for this? (other than not letting the iphone battery go 0% nor synchronizing the apps each time I have this issue)

I've had the same issue about 4-5 times now as well. As soon as my iphone 4 runs out of battery and is not being charged for another few ours it 'forgets' its date and time settings and resets to 1/1/1970. I am really surprised Apple didn't put in a small extra battery to keep this basic stuff running indpendent of the main batterie's life!!
What's really annoying about this though is that when I set the date again (the auto setting doens't work for some reason) I then have to OK reminders for events from the last months which atm takes ca 10-15 minutes of stupid tapping with no chance to get to any other parts of the OS!
If anybody has a solution for this that be fantastic! Also if this is not supposed what should happen let me know too as my iPhone has been doing this pretty much from the start (got it only end of Nov 2010) - then I should get in touch with Apple I guess...

Retrieving Missing Sync Settings When Upgrading From an Older Version of Firefox to the latest version.

I initially set up my Sync account using an add-on for an older version of Firefox and have since upgraded to the latest version. But now my browser acts as if I don't have a sync account set up at all. When I attempt to create a new account, it says that my email address is already being used which tells me that my sync information is still on the the servers. So how do I retrieve my sync settings when settings are missing within my browser?

I resolved the problem in Snow Leopard by logging out of my (admin) account and logging into my daughter's account on the same machine. She doesn't have admin privileges, so when I tried to install Firefox 4 in her account, I had to authenticate with my admin identity and PW. Installation went smoothly after that. My guess is that you could also simply create a new account on the same machine and install Firefox 4 from that. I have no idea why this works.

This is ridiculous. I've had this problems for years now and I'm finally walking away from Firefox. I use my keyboards more than my mouse, and how many times does your finger slip and hit Command Q instead of W. How come FF can't reset something as trivial as this? So many people are having problems with this?

Why wont Firefox 5 warn me when closing multiple tabs? The box in settings is checked.

After I downloaded Firefox 5 it no longer warns me when I'm closing multiple tabs. The box is checked in settings for tabs but it still wont do it. This feature worked fine in Firefox 4. Can this be a glitch?

We are not talking about saving tabs when closing; we're talking about the warning "You are about to close X tabs" that usually shows up when you press the browser's close button. Now when I press the button, everything closes; no warning. I'm fortunate that Firefox does have a "restore previous session" button when you reopen Firefox.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

I recently installed Firefox 4.0 and in the options, under the section "Tabs", I have enabled "Warn me when closing multiple tabs". But if I have multiple tabs opened with websites loaded in them, and then try to close the browser, it simply closes. No warnings are shown (which was there in previous versions). Couple of times I clicked on the close button of browser and then realized that I had some important sites opened in different tabs, which I lost as it didn't warn me. I'm sure you are using Private Browsing mode in Firefox 4. I have also the same problem and I tried to uncheck this option after many times accessing about:config\browser.warnOnquit. And it's wonderful, the warning cameback. I think it's a bug about Private Browsing mode. Hope Mozilla's Developers will fix it.
