Firefox take over 20 min to load

I am running windows xp professional. For some reason, this morning firefox was just not loading and it took 20 min or more to load. Once it is loaded, firefox is working ok. I try remove the program and reinstall, try refresh firefox, try create a new profile but none of these work. I am running Firefox 36.0. I can start internet explorer fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What are you using as your home page?
Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
Check the settings.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
'''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Should it take over 1 hour to load an update OS on an iPad mini?

A lot can depend on your bandwidth, internet speed, etc. It can also depend on which update you are installing? Are you doing this OTA, or via iTunes. If OTA, then installation also includes expanding the download to the files needed to install. Installation via iTunes can normally not take quite as long since it isn't necessary to expand the files.

  • Lenovo H420 Desktop takes over 5 mins to boot up

    Hi,
We have a Lenovo H420 desktop that takes over 3 mins to boot up. After you switch it on, the monitor displays a black screen with 'Lenovo' in white writing and remains with this screen for minutes on end seemingly doing nothing (hard drive  cannot be heard working and it's activity light doesn't flash). After about 3 minutes Windows 7 suddenly loads in a matter of seconds.
Any ideas what is wrong? Is this normal?
We've only had this computer for about 3 months and it has been doing it since we bought it. We reset the computer back to its factory settings but that hasn't changed anything. Bios doesn't seem to be accessible as no startup screen saying press del for setup etc shows.
Kaspersky and Malwarebytes doesn't show any nasties.
    Thanks

  • IWeb takes over 10 minutes to load

When I try to load iWeb it take over 10 minutes to load. Anyone else have this problem? Can I stop it from loading iPhoto along side >?

Backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
Launch iWeb and see if you can add photos from iPhoto now. What iWeb uses to see the photos in iPhoto is the AlbumData.xml file that is created in the iPhoto Library package. If the above doesn't work try the following:
    1 - close iPhoto.
2 - go to your Pictures folder, select your library package and open it as shown in this screenshot:
3 - locate the AlbumData.xml and AlbumData2.xml file and move them to the desktop.
4 - launch iPhoto which will recreate those files.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.
A last suggestion is to reapply the iLife Media Browser Update and the iLife Support 9.0.3 update.

  • Firefox takes over windows hotkeys (Fn + Volume Up)

Firefox takes over windows hotkeys (Fn + Volume Up). I am used to adjusting global volume control (windows mixer) from my keyboard, but firefox takes over Fn + ... hotkeys so they don't work in firefox windows. How to disable this feature in firefox?
    Thanks

This is still a problem and a very annoying one!! With the newer versions of adobe flash (currently here 11.5.502.135) I cannot change volume with Fn+F keys after pressing anywhere on my firefox window. First I have to unfocus my firefox window and only then I can change volume. This problem doesn't occur in flash player 10.3 for example.

  • ShockwaveFlashObject10.1.82.76. MSN + email takes 10-20 min to load

Shockwave  was installed 9/6/10. Computer print, all programs and icons are smaller. MSN sometimes takes 10-20 min. load. Often I can't get my
emails. When I try to close MSN, when it is stalled in loading I can't and have to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete, which is a lengthy process. My Hotmail and Internet Explorer load in 2-3 min.
I have called Qwest my internet provider, MSN Partners, and Microsoft. They all believe that I need to uninstall and reinstall Shockwave.
I have Windows XP,Media Center Edition, Version  2002, Service Pack 3, 76487-OEM-0011903-00825, I don't know how to find the amt. of bits.
Internet Explorer 8 has 128 bits.
I tried to scan and email via HP Solutions. A box came up and said MSN couldn't handle this( not exact words).
As you can discern I don't know much about computers, only enough to be dangerous and enough to be afraid of them.
    Hope you will help.

ShockwaveFlashObject 10.1.82.76 is actually Flash Player, not Shockwave Player.
I suggest that you uninstall Flash Player using the uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html, then reinstall the latest Player http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Make sure that no Internet Explorer windows are open when you run the uninstaller & installer.
If you still have problems after this, please post in the Flash Player forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/webplayers/flash_player

    Hello Gordon.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • Firefox takes a long time to load, even with add-ons and auto-update disabled

When opening firefox it takes a long time (1 minute +) to load. The computer does not display any indication that firefox is loading (often leading to 2, 3 or 4 instances of Firefox trying to start due to my impatience).
My OS is Windows Vista 32 bit
    Firefox is v4.0.1

Can you check your Windows Firewall settings? It's possible that it's routing Firefox requests differently. At least one other Firefox user has reported that his Windows Firewall was set to block Firefox 3.6.

  • Firefox takes a long time to load a website and sometimes won't open at all

Firefox is running really slow and takes ages to load a website if it loads at all, i'm having the same problem with other browsers but Skype and Windows Messenger are working fine. I've reset my wireless a number of times but this doesn't solve the problem. It was fine earlier today but since this evening every time i attempt to open a website it won't work.

  • When I click the MFF desktop icon Firefox takes exactly 30 seconds to load, is that right?

''Duplicate post, continue here -'' [/questions/752057]
I have just installed Firefox and it takes 30s from clicking the desktop icon to loading the home page. Tabs only take about 2s, is this right?
    IE loads in 2-3 s.

The answers you have got above are correct.
However, if your FF otherwise feels snappy when browsing - and a second restart (aka. warm start) of FF is much faster than the first - then you could try my suggestions here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/762446#answer-119951
The slow load time on a cold start is an old "classic" problem for FF.
Mozilla may work on a solution or not, but meanwhile I'm happy with this work around.

  • Why does firefox take uo to 20sec to load on startup

when i switch on my pc and click onto open firefox it can take up to 20 secs to open, this has only occurred over the past 4 updates

Did you disable all the extensions before restarting?
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
    *all extensions are disabled
*the default theme is used (no persona)
    *userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored
*the default toolbar layout is used (localstore-safe.rdf)
*the Javascript JIT compiler is disabled
    *hardware acceleration is disabled
    *plugins are not affected
    *preferences are not affected

  • Firefox takes over my computer's entire screen.

It just started happening between one minute and the next. I When I move my cursor to the top of the screen I can see my tabs but not my options and the exit/minimize/maximize icons are very tiny. It covers everything including my task bar at the bottom of my screen. The newest update was installed before this session. Any ideas on how to fix?

Sounds as though you are in "Full Screen" Mode. The F11 key toggles "Full Screen" Mode on or off.
