Both those screenshots are too small to actually see the problem that you mention - except maybe on a Retina screen. And considering you are running the Nightly 38.0a1 version, which isn't always stable ....

    Will there be a fix for Firefox's problems with Hotmail. I have gone back to 3.5.9 but mostly I am disappointed by the lack of action on this serious problem where a major and critical feature of a major international website is unavailable in the Firefox browser.

    We've reached out to the Hotmail team and they've determined that this is a bug in their code. (It was masked by a timing issue in 3.5 that was fixed in 3.6.) We've worked with them to develop a fix but they may not have deployed it yet.

  • Firefox gets problems when 2,7 GB of memory is used by Firefox

    Firefox gets problems when 2,7 GB of memory is used by Firefox. Or more. Like 2,8 GB.
    It started when I read jpost.com with tens of tabs open. I don't remember how many. But I know there was more than 40.
    On the tab I that I was reading, the page turned completely black. Pitch black with nothing else, not even the Firefox interface. It was actually a pitch black shape that looked like a web page in shape. The blackness quickly disappeared and the page was normally readable again. But then it happened again - the page turned black again.
    The same page turns black happened again later.
    One of my browsing sessions had Firefox slow down so much that you could see scrolling happening when I used scrolling.
    Still another time I had 60 tabs open and Firefox worked completely fine without freezes, slowdowns, or black shapes. I could close Firefox by just pressing the red X in the title bar.
    Yesterday, I had 50 tabs open and I experienced a slowdown when I looked at the Breaking News headlines. The headlines would show slower than usual. The Breaking News headlines at jpost.com show the headlines a few words at a time until the headline is completely shown. Then the headline disappears and the next starts showing a few words at a time. And speed in general was not what you normally have with a computer that has 8 GB of memory. And a Core i5 processor. I opened two more tabs from the Breaking News section I had opened. After I opened a new window, Firefox froze. I had to close Firefox from the Task Manager by pressing End process. I had used Firefox for 6 hours without ever closing any of the tabs I had opened.
    In all of these cases, more than 40 tabs were open. In all of these cases, the slow down or freeze meant I had to use Task Manager and then press End process on the Processes tab. In all cases except the two I describe in the next paragraph, I never close any tabs after opening them. No problems have ever happened until Firefox started using 2,7 GB of memory. Until that point, everything is normal with no freezes or slowdowns.
    At two times, I tried to reduce memory usage by closing tabs. However, in both cases this would make Firefox freeze. In one of these cases, Firefox would show something bizarre: there would be about 7 tabs, and one of the tabs would be partly shown. Also, Firefox would show the busy cursor. Firefox did not show how many tabs I actually had. The second time, I tried to close the tabs by clicking Close other tabs in the menu that you get when right-click a tab. The tabs would close fine, but I remember that I opened Gmail and then I did this: I clicked on the Promotions tab. Instead of seeing the tab with the Emails, Firefox showed a busy cursor and the title bar said not responding. Firefox froze.
    The reason might be Adblock Plus memory usage. In Adblock Plus home page, developer Wladimir Palant writes in his blog about how Adblock Plus uses a lot of memory: https://adblockplus.org/blog/on-the-adblock-plus-memory-consumption .

    One more bit of information: I have a Geforce 640 GT graphics card. My graphics card drivers are old- version 311.41. The newest version of the drivers is 340.52. Would a new graphics card driver solve the problem?

  • Loading themes problem

    I'm posting this again, since i got no response in a topic which is "answered" whereas it's actually not :
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7989694&#7989694
    Same "loading themes" problem for me, with iDVD 7.2.
    I tried deleting the preferences file and started again idvd, nothing.
    The only thing i can do to have it work is use another account, as a matter of fact. But i'd rather use my account, so i'd like to reinstall idvd. but how can i do it?
    thanks
    stéphane

    Actually, iDVD used to work on the other account, because it was kind of blank (there was no video in it). I've just created a new imovie project, on this second account : now there are files in the "Videos" folder (sorry for my english, i'm not sure what's the word on a mac in english, but it french the folder is named "Séquences"), and iDVD freezes again. Even on the second account.
    So, to sum up: *as soon as there is one file in the Video folder* (whether a imovie file or any other, like any .avi file), iDVD cant open and freezes...
    dont you think that it could be worth reinstalling iDVD? but how? Or maybe there are other applications to make DVDs?
    (all software is up to date on my mac)

  • I cant get firefox themes to work

    iDVD is for creating movies on a DVD. Is that what you are trying to do?
    For playback of DVDs use DVD Player, or VLC:

  • I was told to Trash Iphoto and reinstall it to remedy a "no available themes" problem.....If I do that will I lose all my pictures?

    I was told to Trash Iphoto and reinstall it to remedy a "no available themes" problem.  If I do that will I lose all my photos?

    Have you tried to rebuild or repair your iphoto library or database? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638
    If you reinstall as long as you don't delete your iphoto library you'll be fine. You'll probably have to tell the new iPhoto which library to use after you reinstall though. Hold the option key down when starting iPhoto and select your library. Also just to be safe I would back up the iPhoto library BEFORE you do anything.

  • FIrefox Browser problem- S... when I press 9 FIrefox zooms out? when I press 0 Firefox zooms in?

    FIrefox Browser problem- Suddenly now when I press the 9 number key (or 6) FIrefox zooms out and when I press a 0 number key Firefox zooms in. This just started happening 2 days ago.
    I am using a Mac and I have the latest Firefox . No updates of any kind have occurred in the past 4-5 days, so I must have inadvertedly activated this.
    How can I deactivate this?

    Hi lachem, I guess our comments in your earlier thread didn't solve the problem, but to avoid duplicate threads, let's continue there: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1050032 The Firefox "search for text when I start typing feature" has just stopped working correctly].

  • Each time the firefox will make com hangs awhile when ply a sound, after close firefox the problem solved.

    When Firefox opened, and the system ply a sound, the com will hang awhile, but after I close Firefox, the problem solved itself, if I disable all plugins, the problem solved, can help check which plugins will cause this problem or this is Firefox problem???
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == ply a sound

    I changed the setting, but unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem. This situation does seem to occur more, when I load or reload my eBay home page. I noticed that all data and information would go ahead and load, but the random ads bar would not immediately load and when I would left click anywhere on the page, Firefox would temporarily freeze, the page turns white, Firefox not responding will display, and then the banner would load and everything is fine. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my Flash Player. Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Reggie

  • Macbook so slow I'm ready to commit Macbook homicide. Firefox the problem?

    Hello,
    My Macbook has been very slow since I got it and loaded a lot of files onto it a little over 2 years ago. I compared mine to that of a fellow traveler (same model, specs, programs) and he was able to keep many programs open simultaneously and still work quickly, while I cannot run two programs at the same time.
    However, now it is even slower. Some days I spend more time watching the spinning wheel than I do working. I wish I were exaggerating.
    Thanks to advice on this forum, I deleted files to free 25 GB of hard disk space. I regularly repair the disk permissions. I am so frustrated with this computer that is supposed to be so user friendly and wonderful but which actually interferes with my work. I use Firefox and notice that it uses up to 50% of my CPU power. Could this be my problem?
    My work requires that I keep a lot of tabs (sometimes up to 50) open in my browser. I wonder if this means the Macbook is not up to that task no matter what I do. If that's the case, would any Mac be able to handle this? I don't keep a lot of other programs open, but if I dare to use Word or Adobe Acrobat simultaneously then all the programs will stop responding. It takes 5-15 minutes for programs to even quit unless I force them to do so.
    I use the latest Firefox update and Mac OSX 10.5.8
    Here are my computer stats:
    Model Name: MacBook
    Model Identifier: MacBook2,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MB21.00A5.B07
    SMC Version (system): 1.17f0
    Serial Number (system): xxxxx
    Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-001B631FA1B3
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
    Thanks if anyone can shed light on my problem or help me to fix the system I currently have. I may have to purchase another computer, but I don't want to end up in the same very frustrated boat with the new one. I'm sad to say that the only time I have a bad temper is when I work on my Macbook.

    I repair the disk every week or so lately. Just repaired it today.
    You seem pretty happy with your computer overall. I definitely cannot have both Word and Firefox open without making the computer completely unusable. At some point both programs will stop responding. Even if one of them starts responding again it will only be a few keystrokes in Word or a link click in Firefox before they will both stop responding again. At that point even if I force one of the programs to quit the other one will not work well until I restart the computer.
    I normally run only iCal in the background and even that I only open when I really need it. Just discovered Activity Monitor today. I have stopped running all the background programs at someone else's suggestion from several months ago.
    I do think the computer is getting slower over time. I've used it as a dedicated Firefox unit for some time now but now it hangs up with even just Firefox open once I get about 10 tabs open. I am forced to restart the computer due to program hangups at least once per day. I almost never use two programs at once. I hate to have to open a PDF from the internet with Adobe Acrobat or Preview because I know I will have to restart the computer shortly. I guess I could try Safari again, but it seemed prone to crashing even with just 3-5 tabs open.
    I hope the RAM will improve things enough to be workable. Otherwise it is time for a new computer and I will be sure to get the fastest one I can find rather than try to save money like I did last time.
    Thanks again. Sorry I feel so bitter about this Macbook. It was fun to use for about 3 weeks and then it slowed so dramatically. But it didn't start crashing this often until maybe 6 months ago. Since then, my usage habits have gotten lighter (I was once able to use a few programs at once, if a bit slowly and with frequent brief hangups), but the computer just seems to get slower and more prone to the unending spinning ball.

  • Why is Firefox having problems with add-ons since I upgraded to 3.6.9?

    Firefox upgraded it self today to the latest version 3.6.9 and now my add-ons don't start. I can still see them in the Tools>Add-ons>Extensions window. But they are not running. I have allready tried to delete the extensions.ini, extensions.rdf and extensions.cache files but it didn't help. And if I click on any of the Option buttons in the Add-ons window it just freezes. Firefox keeps runing and seemes unafected but the Add-ons window doesn't respond any more. I can't close it and it even stayes open after I close Firefox.

    cor-el, thank you for your reply.
    I tried disabling all add-ons and resetting all user preferences but it didn't fix the problem. So I tried your second recommendation. And when I booted Firefox with the new Profile everything was OK. I added my add-ons and they worked great. The only problem was that if I closed Firefox the new profile I created disappeared. The old, corrupt profile was still there but the new one wasn't. In the end I even deleted the old, default profile. This only made the matter worse. Every newely created profile would still disapeare if I closed Firefox and without a profile Firefox wouldn't start, saying that it is already running in the background and that I should stop the process or reboot my PC. Needless to say there was no firefox.exe process running in the background and even rebooting wouldn't make Firefox start. Well not knowing what to do next I did a compete uninstall of Firefox, rebooted my PC and installed a fresh copy of Firefox 3.6.9. I imported my bookmarks and added my add-ons and (for now) everything works as it should.
    Thank you again for your effort.

  • Why are newer versions of Firefox having problems with UTF-16le (Windows default unicode set)

    I have a website that has multiple languages on it, and so I've been using UTF-16le for it. Everything was working well on multiple browsers until the last few months, when only Firefox stopped displaying it properly. I can force the page into UTF-16le, but then some of my graphical links no longer work and I cannot navigate through the pages unless I force every single page to UTF-16le EVERY SINGLE TIME. This problem is not unique to my computer, either, as this has happened with every computer I have tried in the last few months.

    As answered before a few weeks back [[/questions/770955 *]]: the server sends the pages as UTF-8 and that is what Firefox uses to display the pages. You need to reconfigure the server and make them send the pages with the correct content type (UTF-16) or with no content type at all if you want Firefox to use the content type (BOM) in the file.

  • Firefox Profile problem

    Hi all
    it started with firefox 3.6.13 then I moved to Firefox 4 beta and the problem still there.
    For some reason, after Firefox is installed when I start Firefox, it thinks this is the first time to run after installation, it will ask do I want to import bookmarks from other broswers, all my bookmarks are gone, all history, all cookies, everything is gone. it is like a fresh installation, I think this got something to do with user profile, for some reason, it could not access the old profile or something.
    I am running Firefox beta 10 on Windows Vista and my laptop is a company PC part of a domain, it happened today when some windows patches are installed, not sure if that is the reason. Had this PC for over 3 years now, never had this problem till release 3.6.13.
    any idea ?

    fstab:
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid 0 0
    UUID=f45df8b0-fc6c-4358-acd0-b1fdd6d1e5f6 /boot ext4 defaults 0 1
    UUID=f0dd0c3e-10b6-4abd-a65c-e360aad0977a / ext4 defaults 0 1
    #Entry for /dev/sda3 :
    UUID=1b0bdeb4-5ccc-4975-a9f9-b259e3123d37 /home ext4 defaults,user_xattr 0 2

    UUID=D26C2D0C6C2CECC3 /mnt/Data ntfs-3g gid=users,fmask=113,dmask=002 00
    Now, things are getting stranger. I can edit and save files that already exist on the drive, but I can't create new files. Nor can root (or any user for that matter - vbox etc.) I've already booted Windows and done a full chkdisk /F /R on it. I have no problem creating files on the drive in Windows. SMART reports the drive as healthy. I'm sure it's not a hardware issue. As mentioned, I can create a new directory, but not a file. The same result applies whether I boot systemd or init. It worked fine until last night, and the only change I can think of is that I re-built the kernel with autofs support. However, there's nothing in auto.master or auto.misc that should affect this drive.
    I've been battling with this for the past 5 hours now, and getting nowhere. It's driving me nuts.
    Incidentally, fmask and dmask in fstab make no difference. I've tried without them, too, and only put them in as recommended by the Arch wiki. Similarly, gid=users is new since the problem started, and neither helps nor hinders in this case.
    EDIT: I've also tried unmounting and mounting manually busing both mount and ntfs-3g directly. Same result.
