FireFox UI not functioning

Just for the record, I am running Firefox 32-bit on Windows 8 64-bit, (because I cannot find an official 64 bit Firefox installation), anyways onto the issue.
The issue began Yesterday,and I had Firefox for a while beforehand, February 9th 2013, The following functions are affected by the issue
*The UI on the upper right hand side of ALL Firefox windows (browser, options,etc.)
*Youtube video interface
*flash games
*The Entire Download interface
*possibly other functions that I did not see
These functions are not responding to left mouse clicks, some are not responding to right mouse clicks either, this issue happens after I click somewhere other than those functions (ie. Blank space, text, other functions, open a window,etc.), this issue is temporarily resolved when I use ALT +TAB and return to the page,but the issue returns almost immediately after I click again. Because of this I find myself constantly pressing ALT+TAB,just to go about my regular business. This is not the result of any addons, or extensions (as I disabled them all, and the issue persisted). This issue does not affect other windows (ie. the file explorer,steam,games,etc.) I have not tried other browsers yet, but If I cannot resolve this issue permanently I will consider using an other browser for the sake of efficiency.

does an update to firefox 19 address the issue? if not, please also try to reset firefox: Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems

• Hotmail, only in Firefox, does not function, chrome, yes, IE, yes, but not firefox--WHY?

I have uninstalled all versions of Firefox, no matter-Hotmail loads, but when trying to open any email or part of hotmail, does not function. I have now added Chrome and IE and they have no probs with Hotmail!
So, WTF?????

It has been suggested that the Foxit Reader plug-in can cause problems with Hotmail. Try disabling it, reloading the page and see if it helps.

• Wacky crash -- i have a screen shot to send. firefox officially not functioning because of this "overtaking." please advise

working on os 10.7.5 -- i always have lots of tabs open. i hit command-n to open a new window and was hijacked -- no way out, a window that did not fully load, a check box but no info … i have a screen shot of the window. i LOVE firefox, please tell me i haven't lost all of my history … this window overtook all others, nothing else was functioning ...

It could be one of those fake FBI / Interpol web pages that locks your
browser and demands payment.
This add-on can stop such pages;
disallow Script Button {web link}
The Disallow Script button looks like a letter "M" and the title is the Minus Script, drag and drop the button on a toolbar. If the button is not displayed then nothing operates, except rules for plugins.
Adblock Plus {web link}

• Firefox does not function correctly when validating payments with HSBC bank

When HSBC bank security is invoked by a website within an inline page the confirmed page is presented within the inline subpage in such a way that one cannot continue with the transaction confirmation, consequently the payment verification fails. Google chrome, safari and explorer do not suffer from this problem. It makes using my favourite browser impossible whenever I need to security verify any payment on a number of websites.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Why are my firefox icons and tabs not functioning properly?

My firefox is not functioning properly since Monday. I have tried uninstalling and installing firefox but the problem is still there when I open it. Please help.

Unfortunately, the most likely explanation is an incompatibility with your graphics card/chipset driver software. One of the effects of Safe Mode is to disable Firefox from using hardware acceleration. To turn that feature off in normal mode as well:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. Any difference?

• After syncing Firefox with my Android phone, Google calendar is not functional. It hangs on "Loading" and will not allow updates or edits. Calendar works in IE, just not Firefox on any computer. Clearing cookies and cache no help.

I synced Firefox with my Droid Razr Maxx Firefox. Now Google Calendar hangs on "Loading" and will not function. Clearing cache and cookies does not help. Works the same on any computer Firefox. But Gmail works fine and Calendar is okay under other browsers.

• I believe my firefox is viewing some websites on my laptop in formats that are used for cellular devices. Sites like facebook, sports illustrated, yahoo are not functioning correctly but certain sites work fine.

sits such as facebook, yahoo, and sports illustrated do not function correctly on firefox but they do on my internet explorer. I believes its somehow set itself into the same format used for cellular devices... My JSU.edu page says somethin about it being in (portal mode). It is also a different format now that normal.

Hi @TheBigGiggle ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY TouchSmart 17 Notebook PC and a keys not functioning correctly. Here is a document on cleaning the keyboard.
I would start with air on the keys as sometimes debris can cause this issue.
Here is a link to uninstall the keyboard. In the device manager have you uninstall all that is listed in keyboards, restart the computer after uninstalling, it should reinstall automatically and resolve any issues with the keyboard.
Here is a link to keyboard troubleshooting.
Here is a fix from Microsoft that might help.
Let me know how this goes.
Thanks.

• The Windows 7 pop up screen at the bottom toolbar does not function with Firefox 4. Instead there are now tabs on top. The Windows 7 feature was handy because one could easily see which pages you're working on. How can I fix this?

One of the Windows 7 features is the pop up box icon at the bottom toolbar which displays which pages are open when scrolling over it. After installing Firefox 4 this function does not work anymore, instead it was replaced by Firefox tabs above.

I believe you are talking about taskbar previews. To enable them you need to change a hidden preference.
# Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference browser.taskbar.previews.enable and double-click on it to change its value to true

• After upgrading, Firefox opens but will not function.

My OS is Vista Ultimate (64-bit). My firewall is Norton360.
After automatically upgrading yesterday, my firefox no longer functions/works. I get a firefox screen that is partially enabled, but am not able to open any websites, etc.

You can check if you can start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> by holding down the Shift/Options key.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• Redirect not functioning on Firefox 27

I was putting up a sales page on my site and I noticed that
the redirect on my page was NOT FUNCTIONING with
Firefox version 27, so I downloaded Firefox version 25 and
the redirect on my sales page was working with Firefox
version 25.
Can you look into this redirect problem with Firefox 27 and
get back to me (all of us) with a solution?
Here is the URL for my sales page: http://cybermark-solutions.com/4steps1
When you try to leave the page, the page should redirect
to another page. It works with Internet Explorer, Chrome
and Safari, BUT NOT FIREFOX VERSION 27.
Please fix this redirection problem and get back to be with
your solution.

I don't need someone with some sort of morals to say that no redirect is okay, but rather I need to be able to see redirects when using Firefox 27. Why should I use Firefox 27 with redirect not functioning, when I can use Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari, and all of those well known browsers will redirect web pages when a redirect is being used on a web page. Can someone tell me how to fix this Firefox redirect problem or do I have to change to a FULLY FUNCTIONING BROWSER?

• I installed newer Firefox, now parts of Norton and Words do not function. How can I fix this? Go back to previous Firefox? Thanks.

I installed the latest version of Firefox when I was prompted. It was not until after the process was complete was I informed that certain aspects of my Norton and Words programs would not function, and that currently there is no fix available. How can you resolve this? Can I go back to the previous version?
Thanks
Mark

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have released an update for Norton 360 to make it compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about other Norton products, but if you run Norton LiveUpdate it should inform you if there are updates available. If no updates are available, you can downgrade to Firefox 3.6 if you want to use the Norton add-ons.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

• Firefox 4 was functioning well until two days ago. Browser will not open to my home page and tool bars do not appear. Was able to find toolbar but "back" button does not work. What changed?

Firefox now opens to a blank page and the word Firefox appears in upper left hand corner in orange. It, apparently, contains a drop down menu. I can navigate from here but "back" button does not function in any website. How do I get it back to where it was previous to this change?

You can change this if you don't mind peeking under the covers into Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
(i) Page thumbnails (default)
browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
(ii) Blank tab
browser.newtab.url = about:blank
(iii) Built-in Firefox home page
browser.newtab.url = about:home
(iv) Any other page
browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
