Firefox update doesn't update

Update won't update! I keep getting a message that Firefox wants to update. I tell it to and everything seems fine. Firefox reboots. Moments later, I get another popup saying Firefox needs to do an update (the same one!). Repeat... repeat... repeat. What is wrong?

Hello, please download and install firefox, from Diego Victor's above link and then be sure to :
1. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
and then
2. Install the version that you have downloaded.

• Firefox update 22 doesn't work as before with nosquint

After the Firefox update, my web pages are up to twice the size they were before the update. NoSquint shows the size is up to 200%. None of my old tabs show a page in a readable size. I can change the size of each page but if I restart Firefox, all of my pages are huge again. If I disable NoSquint, page size is much more reasonable but I still need to make slight adjustment for each page. I've also gone into Firefox/Options/Content/Fonts & Colors and tried different settings without success. Ideas?

Thanks jscher 2000 for the explanation that Firefox 22 adjusts the page zoom levels according to the Windows settings. I tried all options you provided and the "about.config" solution works best for me. I already use the 125% font size as well as the Theme Font & Size Changer add-on (it's great!). The following might help others:
I first disabled NoSquint and found the new default size, combined with site-specific Ctrl+ and Ctrl- worked but I always seem to use the site specific Ctrl+ and Ctrl-. I like the NoSquint set it and forget it feature.
When I tried the "about.config" solution in combination with NoSquint, all of my pages look just like they used to before the Firefox update and only rarely need the site specific Ctrl+ and Ctrl-. Thanks!

• My Firefox updated about 2 hours ago. Now it crashes everytime I try to open it. Could someone please help me? I am now stuck on IE :(

My Firefox updated about two hours ago. When I tried to open it after the update, it crashed and so I chose to start a new session. Now it won't open and I get a message saying "Firefox has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to this problem... Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Please help.

Have you tried closing the iTunes store app via the multitasking bar and seeing if it works when you re-open it
Have you tried closing the app via the taskbar ? (I assume that your iPad is on iOS 6, though the version that your tagline shows, 6.1.6, is not a version for iPads) From the home screen (i.e. not with iTunes store app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

• How can I turn off the the big orange window that keeps opening on top of Google since the last firefox update installed.

Since the last mozilla/firefox update whenever I go online, google and mozilla/firefox open at the same time and I can not see google since mozille/firefox (a big orange window) opens on top of google. I read everything in the window but there doesn't seem to be an "off" button for this big orange window.

Hi pamerritt,
Are you saying you always see the "Welcome to Firefox" message? If so, you should look at this article about that specific issue and the article Preferences not saved. These should give you all the information you need!
If that doesn't work:
# Type about:config in the address bar
# Click I'll be careful, I promise if prompted
# In the Filter input field type startup
# Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
# Delete the text string and click OK
# Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
Hopefully this helps!

• I lost my sound when firefox updated on my computer. Also said something like not compatible to AVG . Does this mean my security is no longer working? What happened to my sound from internet sites????

Sound doesn't work when on the internet. Only has happened since firefox updated on my computer Aug. 25-26 sometime. All of my sound divices work fine off the net.

Reset the SMC and PRAM each at least 2-3 times. I don't know where you got instructions for these resets so please navigate to Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets for correct instructions just in case.

• Outlook request sign in and password every time i open it. It did not happen before the latest firefox update

Before the latest Firefox update around 5-6-14, I didn't have to sign in and give a password to open up Outlook from the Firefox default page. Now even after I sign in to Outlook and checking the box to stay signed in, after a few hours, i have to sign in and give the password to open Outlook. It is a Firefox extension or something that has changed. Please do not refer me to Microsoft help as they have a scripted help for this problem that doesn't work.

• Recent Firefox Update not Working with YouTube?

About a few days ago, I was going on YouTube to upload a video. For some reason, it gave me a message that says "Invalid Request. Authentication Expired".
Not only that, if I do other things such as liking/disliking a video, or adding a video to my Favorites or another playlist, it says that the feature isn't available.
I've also had a problem trying to reply to other comments in videos. Anytime that I type out my comment and hit the post button, it says something along the lines of "Error, Try again"
Now when it comes to doing other things such as simply watching and searching for videos, I have no problems whatsoever.
I figured it might have something to do with the most recent Firefox update, because I tried using YouTube with other browsers, and it works perfectly fine, and I wasn't having any problems with YouTube before the update.
Any idea if the update might have affected something that's causing all of these issues?

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

• All proxy server settings in mac lab deleted possibly after a firefox update? How can I recover settings without manually doing on all machines?

Most (if not all) of my lab machines have lost their proxy settings...weird...has never happened before. Because the settings were in firefox, I assume it is because of a recent firefox update. First...is there any way to revert back to the previous settings so I don't have to manually reconfigure all users on all machines. Second...please make sure that this doesn't happen again when updates are implemented. Third...does anybody know anything about pushing out a proxy setting through ARD?

• Ever since Firefox updated, I cannot view slideshows on websites. If I click the "Next" button to see the next slide in an article, nothing happens. Why is this? How can it be fixed? I've cleaered cache, done everything.

When I try to view any article with a slideshow, the next button on the slideshow doesn't work. It doesn't matter which website, it doesn't happen in other browsers (ie Chrome), and it didn't happen prior to the recent Firefox update. I've cleared cache, checked all of the settings, and nothing's fixing this. How do I fix it?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• After Firefox update, my gmails open up in separate instances of minimized Firefox windows. Any suggestions?

After an automatic Firefox update, my gmails started to open up in separate instances of minimized Firefox windows. The former way was that any email I clicked on would open full screen in the same instance of Firefox and in the same maximized window. Any suggestions on how to get back to the former way?

First, try to update to the recently released Firefox 15, see if that resolves your issue. Update Firefox to the latest version.
If it doesn't, try to Reset Firefox.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article.

• Download problems, also can't download Firefox update

Just recently, I am having problems with downloading attachments or even e.g. a bill. I also can't download Firefox update which is on my screen when I log on. I have looked at the ;'Download' box and a message repeats:-
Server does not support RFC 5 746 See 2009/3555
I haven't experienced this problem until today
I am not very computer savvy although I have been on line for over 10 years

Ok, let's first try to update your Firefox. Go to www.getfirefox.com, download the latest version of Firefox, and install it. Then try downloading what you tried before.
If it doesn't work, Try to start Firefox in Safe mode. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.

• Firefox updated twice without permission. Why? I set "no auto update"!

I am the only account besides admin.
Firefox updates after shutdown even though automatic updates are disabled.
I rely on certain plugins and telling me they are disabled after an update is unacceptable, with no easy way to revert to older version.
Posting this with SeaMonkey which still works.
Google update doesn't show in plugins and has been disabled through windows.

Thanks to both of you.
I am grateful for your efforts and realise that Firefox is volunteer based.
However well intended, forcing someone to accept updates is too much like Microsoft/Big Brother.
I never install xx.0 of anything and offering work arounds for this isn't acceptable.
I don't want to give up on Firefox as many folks I know have.
Please just make it comply with "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them".
That's clear enough, and I'd still be notified.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

• Firefox update killed silverlight which I desperately need.

The usual unwanted, undesired, "for my own good" firefox update has killed silverlight, in both firefox and IE. The machine is XP based, and yes I know it's old but it's what I have to use. How do I get Firefox to rollback to a usable version, or how do I get Silverlight to work with this one. And please, MozillaNazis, don't give me the same tired bullshit about how I'm "more secure" with your untested "updates" being crammed down my throat: what difference does it make how secure my computer is if your crap makes it unusable?

Firefox doesn't kill silverlight in Firefox, and it's not at all possible for it to kill it in IE. Possibly you need to re-install silverlight (It's a buggy program). http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
