Firefox update servers domain name or IP range?

We have a firewall in the office that blocks all internet access, I can open it up to whitelist certain IP blocks or domain names.
I need to find out either the IP range or domain name(s) of the firefox update servers.
(so users with firefox installed will be able to automatically have their updates applied)
I've googled every search term I can think of but haven't found a solution.
Running an in house firefox update server is overkill for this small office and it's also a windows only shop.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Try using mozilla.com and, maybe, mozilla.org
Using specific IP blocks is impossible as Mozilla uses servers around the globe to spread the load.

  • IWeb: Won't publish (update) with Domain name

I have a site that I have used iWeb to create. I recently, got a domain name from www.godaddy.com. I have had it for a few days, and I have had a some things go wrong. First, the web counter that iWeb provides, doesn't work on my site. The counter will publish but it only shows one number (it doesn't go higher). Because it would not work, I decided to delete the counter from my site. Second, I tried to rename one of the pages from "My Podcast" to "Media" but when I try visiting my site, it still says "My Podcast," but when I click on it, a window shows up that says that Apple can't find the sight because it may have been deleted. So, I fixed that by making the page say My Podcast again (which fixed it). Finally, I tried updating some information on my site, and it says that the site published, but when I visit the site, it doesn't have anything that is changed at all.
I can't figure out what is wrong and I need some help. Thanks!

With rapidly reloaded pages, sometimes the browser will show you information from its cache in order to deliver the information to you as fast as possible. Unfortunately, with frequently updated pages, this browser caching strategy doesn't work so well.
To make sure that you are seeing the most up-to-date version of your website, try emptying your browser cache. In Safari, look under the Safari menu and select "Empty Cache". You can also try to add a "?" after your URL to tell Safari to ignore whatever is in its cache.
I have just checked your website and all the links look to be functional. So I am 100% sure that it is a caching issue for you.
As far as the iWeb hit counter goes, you are using domain forwarding with masking to hide the .Mac address. This masking feature prevents the hit counter from displaying correctly or at all. Disable masking and you will see your hit counter as normal. Even if it is not displayed, it will still be counting.

  • Updating Exsisting Domain Name Servers Process?

    Hi
I have an existing domain set with external name servers. When I originally set up the domain in BC Admin I went for the no mail option and simply updated the A records to point over to BC.
I would now like to updated the Name Servers to point to BC so that all mail is coming through the BC system.
I understand how to do this by updating the DNS records with BC's name servers.
    My question is:
Do I also need to log in to BC Admin - Site Settings - Domains and amend any details here?
Do I perhaps have to delete existing Domain info and start again?
Any advice would be very gratefully received
    Cheers
    Cas

    Hi sqlproddba,
Based on your description, we need to verify if you mean that move the servers into new domain. If so, the replication is needed to be reconfigured. And besides the service accounts, logins and proxy accounts, you also need to focus on other things, such
as job owners, SA account, firewall and so on.
Additionally, if you continue to use accounts from the old domain, please make sure that there is trust between new domain and old domain.

  • I need to know the domain names of the update servers so I can exclude them from outgoing content filtering appliances at my site

We use a Bluecoat device that must be authenticated on a time schedule, before a user can browse off site. This breaks the updater on Firefox if the end user has not yet authenticated.
I can add the Firefox update servers or domains to an exclusion list so the Bluecoat will not interfere. I need to know those names.
I did some network sniffing and noticed aus2-mozilla-org.geo.mozilla.com but I assume there are more.

Maybe it would be easier to setup a local update server.<br />

  • How to batch change domain name in links

Have several hundred PDF files with links to external files. Links were inserted into Word version prior to PDF'ing. Need a utility or batch tool to update the domain name in the links. For example:
    Current link:  http://abcserver
Must be changed to this:  http://zyxserver
Alternate solution might be to batch update the links in the Word files, then batch process new PDF files.  (Need advice on how to do batch update of Word files.)
Greatly appreciate prompt help and suggestions.
    I have:
    Windows XP
    Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

  • Change domain name in URL box

    Hi there,
I have updated the domain name for a client's website and followed the proceedure from other discussions I saw on the subject. It works fine to export and publish using the udated domain name, but the old name still shows up in the URL box on the live site. How do I update that so the new domain name shows up after the site is opened?
    Thank you so much!
    Mary

    Hi Mary,
Your domain agsgaming.com (managed by NAMECHEAP.COM) has a 302 Redirect setup to forward to http://www.americangamingsystems.com.
You would need to contact your domain registrar to fix this redirect for you or help you fix that.
    Cheers,
    Vikas

  • Domain name is duplicated...making it longer and redundant than necessary

This happened when I updated my domain name a few extra times with hosting by .mac.  What to do to get it with just one?
    Thanks
    http://www.brendaboylan.com/BrendaBoylan.com/Brenda_Boylan.html

That's because you named your site the same as your domain name.  The usual URL for CNAME domain name forwarding is www.domainname.com/site_name/page_name.html.
Change your site name to something descriptive of your offerings you will get rid of the double domain name in the URL.
Another way to get rid of the double domain name is to publish your site to a folder on the hard drive and uploaed just the contents of the site folder to your server. You will have to delete the existing site folder from the server beforehand and then upload just the contents.  That will give you
    http://www.brendaboylan.com/Brenda_Boylan.html
for the first page. Then next page would be:
    http://www.brendaboylan.com/Pastel_Paintings.html

  • Running Windows 7, all versions of Firefox beyond 3.6.0 will not access websites, showing Error 404 and displaying only the portion of the URL that follows the domain name

Choosing any of several dozen bookmarks, Firefox will show a screen reporting Error 404 and display only part of the complete URL (whatever follows the slant mark beyond the domain name). When going to a new site, such as provided by a Google search, the initial page may show up but clicking on links within that page again brings up the 404 error. My only solution has been to uninstall whatever new version of Firefox has been automatically downloaded and then re-install version 3.6.0, which works.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

  • The window where Domain Name, Edit, Modify doesn't show up to access my Fatcow website on my new iMac in Firefox (the only browser Macs can use). Help!

Just got a new iMac. For the first few days, I was able to log in to, then access the window in Fatcow web host that allows me to make changes to my website. Now, the window that is supposed to say "Domain Name" and "Edit" and "Modify" is blank, so I cannot access my website to make changes. Firefox is the only browser available to Macs through Fatcow. In the two weeks before getting the iMac, I had the same problem on an Acer laptop. Hughesnet is our internet provider, since we live in the country. I have worked with several Fatcow techs, and they do not believe the problem is on their end. When I open Firefox, there is now also a message that says I'm missing plugins, yet when I follow the plugin link, no plugins are listed as missing. I have removed/reinstalled Firefox, to no avail. I have turned off the clear-cookies-automatically add-on, cleared the cache and history, etc., to no avail. I have printed out the HTML script for the Fatcow window from my Mac at work (from which I can access the window) and compared to the one at home. There doesn't appear to be any script missing, but I can't say for sure. I have read several articles, hoping for clues to fixing this problem. Now I need your technical expertise. HELP!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    <b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

  • How to I get my host email at GoDaddy to work after I've changed the name servers to redirect my domain name that I purchased to my Business Catalyst Site?

I use a mac and I just recently changed my name servers with my purchased domain name at godaddy.com. As a result, I am no longer able to receive emails in my domain name's email address as I have to change some info with Adobe according to godaddy.  They have sent me an email with all the info that needs to be changed and I was wondering if someone can walk me through it. Thanks! :-)

I guess, you have resolved the issue on your end.

  • Cluster Network name resource could not be updated in domain

    Hi,
I have the following error and need clarification on the below solution in bold:
    Event Id 1206 -
The computer object associated with the cluster network name resource 'Cluster Name' could not be updated in domain 'xxxxx.xxxx'. The error code was 'Password change'. The cluster identity 'ClusterGroup1$' may lack permissions required to update the object.
1 - Move CNO back to the Computers Container
2- Give the Cluster Node Computer Accounts Change Password permission on the CNO
3 - Take the Cluster Name Resource offline
4 - Repair Cluster Name Resource
5 - Bring Cluster Name Resource back online
    Firstly, is there any implication?
Secondly if ClusterGroup1$ is my CNO (Cluster Name Object) then is my
cluster node computer account the server nodes in the cluster? E.g. ClusterGroup1$ is the cluster, the nodes are hyperv01 and hyperv02, do I add hyperv01 and hyperv02 to clustergroup1 -- properties -- security?
    Thank you.

    Hi SPD IT,
If you have pre-stage your cluster object to a specific OU, you needn’t move them to default computer OU, with your current error information it most possible caused by the
lack permission of cluster nodes or some unless GPO applied to cluster nodes, please exclude the cluster from any GPO, then test this issue.
If it does not work please follow this repair action then monitor this issue:
    1. Open Failover Cluster manager
    2. Select Clustername
    3. Under Cluster Core Resources right click on Cluster Name and select Take offline
    4. Right click on Cluster Name and select repair.

  • Cant Launch Firefox from Mac with UTF8 International Domain name

From a Mac running OSX 10.7, I Launch Firefox with a UTF-8 string containing an international domain name:
I try to launch http://www.vihtilä.fi and Firefox responds: Can’t connect to http://www.vihtil\xc3\xa4.fi but the address bar string is correct. If I copy the address bar string, and paste it back into the address bar, then hit enter, the site opens. Safari and Chrome launch the correct site.
    \xc3\xc4 is the UTF8 representation of 'ä'
Firefox on Windows works correctly, but I pass it a WCHAR (UTF16) name.

    That is weird.<br />
The forum makes a correct and working link (www.vihtilä.fi) via preview, but changes the URL to the escaped encodeURI version when it is posted.
I can't replicate what you are doing, but the page opens via a desktop shortcut with "<b>-url http://www.vihtilä<i></i>.fi</b>" command line parameter.

  • Updates to website after domain name change

Can I still update my website using iweb after I transition to a new domain name?

I use third party hosting to mean a company other than Apple's .Mac. I also use godaddy to host my sites and it is very simple. They will provide an address of the ftp site name for your domain. I publish from iWeb to a folder, then use Cyberduck (any FTP program will do) to upload. You don't even need the ftp program because godaddy has their own simple ftp built in to the service. They also have excellent and free technical service. You can look at my site at: http://bandb.holage.com.

  • Just bought some domaine names, but can't see them. they are redirected. best guess it is something embedded in firefox. i can't see anything though. help!

I bought some domain names from Godaddy. when i type the name into my firefox address line, instead of going to the parking page at godaddy, where it should go, it gets redirected to searchpagefix and there is a message on the side that says looksafe has blocked a hijacking page, etc.. i've spent hours on the phone with godaddy. they say the problem is not on their end. they see my domain name (peter-maloney.com) on their parking page. i spent hours on the phone with Norton support, my security software. They ran tests and diagnostics and found nothing. I downloaded ad-aware and ran that, nothing. I looked for looksafe to uninstall, etc. and it doesn't show up anywhere on my windows 7 machine. any suggestions? did this looksafe thing somehow get embedded in firefox? do i need to reinstall firefox? would i lose all my favorites?

Bad redirects can result from a variety of causes, including (1) system level malware, (2) system level settings changes, (3) bad Firefox add-on, (4) Firefox settings changes, (5) other (depending on the nature of the redirect).
Here's what I suggest for tracking it down:
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Then, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    (3) Check your '''Firefox connection setting''' in the Options dialog here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default of "Use system proxy settings" should piggyback on your Windows/IE "LAN" connection settings, but you also can try "No Proxy" to see whether that works better.
    (4) Search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
Are you able to get rid of the unwanted redirects?
