Firefox updates keep getting blocked
i keep getting a "firefox update was blocked" notice.
''something has blocked firefox from updating''
i've checked as much as i am capable of to no avail.
under ''help/about'' i notice that i am running the most current version but still get these failed updates. i am running 5.0.1
whenever i get this notice, i reload firefox just because and still get these notices.
i am running Trend PC Cillan. i have no proxy settings.
again it has happened... i have manually installed FF 6.0. Let's see if it makes a difference...

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

I presume you are talking about getting these errors in web browsers, is that correct?
What operating system are you running on the MacBook?
Most likely some of your plug-ins need to be updated. I would start by going to Adobe's web site and getting the latest Flash plug-in.

This was not a Firefox update, but a piece of malicious software you have inadvertently downloaded from a site called http://ffftp.co.cc/ which is impersonating Firefox. I discovered this as soon as my Zonealarm requested permission for "Golds" to access the internet. Golds??!! However I couldn't find a file with this name installed on my computer.
You should delete the file you downloaded and certainly do not allow internet access to any suspicious program. If you have already given permission, scan your PC immediately for any virus, malware, etc. Best of luck. -

A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete. -

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

trying to log into firefox but keep getting firefox is in offline mode and can't browse the web, I've unchecked the work offline in the file menu but still get error message...
The work offline option can be found from Firefox button -> Web developer or from the menubar toolbar -> Work offline (Or at least thats what happens in Windows).
Have you any other reason for being offline; router off, firefox not dialing up or whatever. Or is security software or a firewall blocking firefox, or a network connection, or firefox setting etc set wrongly.

Why do I keep getting "blocked plug-in" message? I can't see video clips and this started about a month ago.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password.
3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:

6. In the Safari preference window, select
