Firefox v4.0 loads ok, but firefox5.0 crashes just after startup !!

I have gone back to firefox 4.0 after noticing that firefox 5.0 crashed after I tried to load
"http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/22"... that is my home page.. So I couldn't live with that. After several iterations, of reloading 5.0 and 4.0 successively, I have decided to use 4.0 for the immediate future. I am using OS Windows XP2. I don't want to unload firefox totally (via Control Panel) as I think that will cancel my bookmarks and password memory. Help! regards, P

Firefox 3 will not run on OS X 10.3.9, it requires at least 10.4

  • Firefox 9 cannot load websites but internet explorer 9 can

The title explains it all really. I have read and done all thats in the "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can" pages regarding firewalls, malware and others.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Firefox won't load pages, but other browsers will.

Firefox won't load any internet pages, but different browsers, both Chrome and Explorer work, I havent tried others. I've un-installed, changed the name of the folder of the plug-ins that were left so it wouldn't recognize them, then re-installed nothing happened. I've checeked for viruses, proxies, and i'm pretty sure its not a firewall, I think we only have one and I checked it, plus there is no prompt asking me if I want to allow firefox to access the internet. It won't run in safe mode, so its not any add-ons, clearing the cache didn't do anything either. Its also not in offline mode. What else could it be?

  • Firefox can't load websites but my Windows Explorer can. It was working before but now whenever I try to load a page it says "Problem loading page". What can I do to get Firefox to work?

Whenever I try to go on a website, Firefox says "Problem loading page." It won't load any pages. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but it still says and does the same thing.

  • Firefox will not load pages but Internet Explorer (IE) will.

When tethered to my Android phone, Firefox (ver. 8.0) will not open most webpages, but Internet Explorer (ver. 9.0) will. I say Firefox will not open "most" pages because, oddly enough, it WILL open https pages, but NOT regular http pages. When I try to open any regular http webpage in FF, I see in the status bar the usual "looking up..." and "connecting to..." messages, but then all I get is a completely blank white screen. I get no error messages whatsoever, only this blank white browser screen.
When NOT tethered, FF works as normal when browsing to both https and regular http webpages.
Why would Firefox open secured https pages but not unsecured http pages?
As part of my attempts to diagnose/resolve this issue, I completely wiped/reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and both FF8 and IE9.
Also, the issue arises regardless of which tethering method I use on my Android phone. That is, it happens whether I connect my computer wirelessly or via USB.
Lastly, the issue arises even when all add-ons are disabled and even uninstalled. I made sure to try the tether capability as I was reinstalling FF, before installing any add-ons and the issue persisted.

The problems are getting worse. I think I will have to give up on Firefox and go with the Google browser. No problems with IE just firefox and I can't take it anymore.

  • FireFox won't load pages, but IE explorer can.

This happens at random times when I have 2 separate windows open. When I'm trying to load a page, the browser either won't load or it's taking too long to respond to the connection. The only way I can resolve is by closing and open FireFox. But then I have to forcefully close the exe file under task manager(in which I don't like to do in most cases.) or restart my PC and it's really becoming annoying.
Any permanent solutions for this? Thanks in advance.
I'm running Windows XP SP 3 Home Edition with a Dell btw,

  • Firefox 4 will load website but opens blank pages within website

I have used Firefox for years, updated from 3.6 to 4 and never had any problems. Recently in 3.6 and 4 I load my local medical centre website (no problem) then when I click on any link I just get a blank page. These pages always open in IE. I have emptied the cache and refreshed the pages but all I get is blank pages.

Do you have firefox filter installed? I find that with my problem I disabled firefox filter from my add ons & found that the web page I have trouble viewing (which is verizon wireless) will load correctly. Or maybe is another add on you may have installed. Test them out. For now I switched back to firefox 3.6 because I dont experience that problem with 3.6. I hope they can correct it, I would like to use firefox 4 again soon.

  • Firefox 5 cannot load website but Firefox 3.6.10 can

We have a very old web server that requires users to add an exception to trust the site. It's password protected and encryption protocol Use TLS 1.0 must be disabled. I and other users are able to get to the final page (see URL of affected site) because we are in a web group that allows us to get there, but I have one user with Firefox v5 - also in the web group - who keeps getting the username/password authentication box, like he's in a loop. Users not in the web group can get to the authentication required box from the following site: http://www.ucop.edu/ott/staff/staffevents.html
What other options do I need to verify to allow a Firefox v5 user to get to an old site that requires exceptions to trust the site?

Install Firefox Portable 3.6.x to your hard drive, it won't affect your current version of Firefox. <br />

  • Firefox won't load on my laptop. I just unblocked it on my firewall after accidentally blocking it 2 weeks ago.

I'm now able to open Firefox, but it is constantly "loading" and the cursor does not work.

I'm not stupid; of course I've read through Apple's troubleshooting info, none of it helps.. I've tried all the simple fixes, and even the elaborate ones. The problem persists. I would normally assume that my computer itself is the problem, but there seems to be many other people having the same issue. I'm guessing that there are some compatibility issues with iTunes and Windows 7.
I will keep trying to fix this myself. Any solutions are welcome, and if I find one that works, I'll post it here for anyone else who has this problem.

  • Picture loads OK but once finished it just shows junk in the viewer

    Hi,
Just updated to Aperture 3. My A2 library has updated and everything seems to be working fine if I view my library in quick preview. If I turn that off when I select an image it shows OK whilst loading. Once loaded the image becomes digital scribble and full or errors. This happens in full screen or in the viewer.
I have tried repair permissions, repair database and rebuilding the database but still the same problem.
    Help!

I am having the same problem! Once I try to work on an image all I get is distortion, junk, parts of the last image I viewed, but mostly it looks like a static TV over my image. I've tried restarting several times, that didn't work. I have recently updated to Snow Leopard, so I'm not running an older version that's causing this problem. What is the cause of this mess?! I'm very disappointing with my new purchase of Aperture 3! What can I do? Help!

  • I restored Firefox to its default settings but the slowness, crashing and non-responsiveness are not resolved

    Hello fellow-users of Firefox,
I followed the advice stated in the Support article about slowness, crashing, etc. by restoring Firefox to its default settings. But the problems didn't go away. The browser remains slow and still gives me error messages about a non-responsive script or plugin and crashes. To make matters worse I don't see the menu items on the top toolbar I was so used to using, like File, Edit, View, etc. I used the View menu very often to zoom in on texts too small for me to read. Now I can't do that. I tried to drag some icons from the menu on the top right-hand corner of the page onto the top tool bar above the address bar, but this is not the same as what I was used to using before, And there are no File, Edit, View, Tools icons in the menu. So now I'm seeing my g-mail inbox in tiny little characters. I tried using the magnifier suggested in the Troubleshooting page of Support, but it's too cumbersome so I gave up.
Would someone kindly please help me out on these issues? Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards,
    Tom Graciano (globmart)

    My pleasure!! :)

  • Firefox won't load homepage when launched and crashes when closed.

Last night, while I was in Firefox, a notification popped up that updater.exe had been downloaded. I could easily take a guess: a new version of Firefox was out. I closed Firefox and then had the updater do its thing.
When Firefox then launched & came up with a blank screen (like what you would see with New Tab), I was a little confused. I checked Tools > Options and the general tab was still set to show the homepage when Firefox starts up (Xfinity). I also went through all the other tabs and found that nothing had been changed. It was 18.0, as shown in "About Firefox" so I was scratching my head as to what was going on. Humoring myself, I clicked the "home" Icon, and sure enough it toop me to my homepage. Figuring I'd take a shot at it later, I closed Firefox (The red X in the upper right).
Then things took a stranger turn. Upon closing, the Mozilla Crash Report screen popped up. I figured this was a one-time thing, so I didn't send a report. I launched Firefox again, and again I got a blank screen. Upon closing, the Crash Report screen popped up again. To ensure this was just something with Firefox, I launched Internet Explorer. It showed the homepage upon launch, and didn't crash when closed.
Now, upon getting the troubleshoot information, I discovered another twist: When I go to close one of the tabs, Forefox crashes.
This has me scratching my head. Before I updated, everything was perfectly fine. Now I run into this. Any thoughts?

Alright, I just tried to reset (help > Troubleshooting > click 'Reset Firefox'. It said it would try to hold onto bookmarks, passwords, etc). When it closes, we hit the Crash Report screen again. Launching Firefox reveals nothing has changed (Theme being the same is the give-away). I'd say that hasn't worked as of yet.
I typed about:crashes and copy/pasted everything in the "details" tab. If the "Raw Dump" tab would be more effective, just say so and I'll add that

  • I can open my yahoo mail inbox, but not an email sine i downloaded firefox 4, likewise facebook opens but without content ie just logo

    internet explorer works ok

    UPDATE:
After waiting for about ten days, I tried setting up my e-mail the regular way (by selecting yahoo mail) again yesterday. To my surprise, it went through without a glitch. I guess the cache of the gateway server must have been reset.
I have been enjoying push for yahoo mail for the last 24 hours again. But I just noticed now, that the problems might be starting again. There are recent e-mails that don't show up on my phone, but do through yahoo's web mail page. When I select "refresh" through the menu on the phone, I see the circle in the top corner spinning for as long as I wait, but the e-mails don't get downloaded. That is exactly how my problems had started in the first place. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and wait and hope that it fixes itself.
There might be a compatibility problem with yahoo servers and the verizon email gateway because I have two gmail accounts set up with the stock e-mail the same way, both using verizon's gateway server for push, and they have both been working with no problems for almost a month. (Even though sometimes the "push" is delayed by up to 5-10 min, most of the time it is within a couple of minutes and that's fine, I'm not that picky) And when I do "refresh", ti only takes a few seconds to complete the request.
And I still haven't heard anything from Verizon.
