Firefox viewing

My issue is within web browsers on OS X 10.4.8
Just as a reference as there are other sites that this happens to; as i do alot of graphic and webdesign - im switching from pc to mac systems and wanted to know why it does this as - it doesnt make any sense as firefox i figured is firefox regardless of system. because i do alot of site development and ive noticed alot of incompatibilities among each browser and want to what kind of steps might need ot be taken or if its just a matter among developers?
Here is the same site captured using just the defaults in each system:
XP:
http://www.loudspeakermusic.com/test/firefox2_xp.jpg
OSX:
http://www.loudspeakermusic.com/test/firefox2_xp.jpg
ive tested it across various Apples [G4, G5, Macpro etc] and PCs and it seems macs resolution towards fonts are very incoherent-seems to be either a firefox issue or a OSX issue???
seems like the OS has a huge FONT issue and its kind of irritating being a graphic and web developer and considering mac pretty much constructed the way for FONTS that you cant have more then a certain amount of fonts without causing system instability -
thanks in advanced

The Browser can only reproduce fonts which are installed on the computer. Macs and PCs have always used different font sets - something ignored by web designers working on PCs.
When writing web pages you should always specify a font-family, and 'serif' or 'sans-serif' after a specific font. i.e "Arial", "sans-serif"> either in-line or in the style sheet.
Not all PCs have the same font sets, Macs may have different font sets depending on the OS. There are plenty of font collections available if you need more. Furthermore the font size will be interpretted differently - 12pt on a mac is quite small, so always specify font sizes by pixels not points, or use relative sizes.
In any web design, if you absolutely must use one specific font and size the only way to guarantee it will show up the same across all platforms and browsers is to embed it as a graphic or pdf.

  • Firefox views my web site differently from Chrome or Safari

When I view my web site as
    https://signature-book.com or
    http://signature-book.com or
    http://www.signature-book.com
    everything looks correct
But when I view it as
    https://www.signature-book.com
    It views in magnified view
Chrome and Safari view these versions the same.

this is not a common bug - your website is already showing to anyone on a 100% zoom level per default. most probably you have mistakenly altered that setting locally while visiting your page in the past (for example by holding the ctrl-key while scrolling)...

  • Div drops down in Firefox, Views fine in IE

I tried posting this yesterday with no luck.
    www.stainlessrhino.com (I took off the hideous rhino/sound)
Site views fine in IE - in FF, no matter how I adjust the 3
divs, the right nav div drops below the other two divs. There is
plenty of room for all three divs to line up - I've tried adjust
the Percentages, tried using fixed px and nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas?
I know the page doesn't validate - 99% of errors are related
to the shopping cart software I used. I hate that. No way to alter
    it tho.
    Thanks

In IE there are spaces around the images which I put in under

Those spaces do not show in Firefox.
Does anyone know how to add spaces in with firefox, or do I
have to do it in html?

  • Is there a solution to Firefox viewing some pages in about 120 font?

One of the pages of a local credit union loads incredibly large. I have tried reducing using view, but it still loads in an incredibly large font size, showing only a very small portion of the webpage, but incredibly large. It shows up when trying to access the online statements. I reported it to the credit union, but they had no problems. They are using IE, which I hate. However, when using IE, I have no problems. Thanks. BE

  • How can I correct background color and graphics in Firefox?

For some reason some background color images and fonts do not appear in Firefox. Other browsers are mostly fine. I've tried most common fixes to no avail. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've attached two screenshots. One is Firefox viewing Google. The other one may be relevant because I can't change the color of fonts in Word and other Office docs.
Anyway, I'm stumped on the Firefox side. The browser has been uninstalled, re installed, and refreshed.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

  • How can I get my bookmarks to display automatically, as vertical list on my Firefox home page (and every other site that I visit)?

I have tried to accomplish this via the Firefox "View," "Bookmarks," and "Tools" menus---to no avail.

There's a work around, although it's not perfect. Go to your photos app, choose the image you want for wallpaper. Tap on the little box with the arrow poking out of it, send to wallpaper. then you can scale and move a bit to get your image closer to what you want.
It's still not perfect. Basically it scales your image so that it fits the whole screen, which means if your image is wider than your screen, you can just slide it left or right, but you do have more control than if you go through the settings.

  • How to sync two firefox profiles, everything except localstore.rdf

Yesterday, I asked about linking cache between two firefox profiles:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/925836
And I got to thinking. The only reason I'm even making a second profile is to have two "saved window locations" for multi-monitor purposes. I want these profiles to be EXACTLY the same except for the location in which they are opened (which is saved in localstore.rdf). It occurred to me that with my current setup in the above thread, even though the caches are now linked.. I will still have to change bookmarks twice. Have two different histories, saved passwords, etc. All minor inconveniences at best, but it would still be nice to avoid them!
Like I said, I want these profiles identical except for the locations in which they are opened. I know there are extensions for syncing profiles, but they all seem to be 1 star performance hindering messes. I'd rather do it manually, as I did with the cache. Possible?

I do not know enough to give a proper answer but some comments that may help:
I am not sure I follow what you ask. Is the saved Windows location you are interested in the coordinates and size of the Window that Firefox view opens in ?
I have never worked with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Localstore.rdf localstore.rdf], but I have often manually edited [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profiles.ini_file profiles.ini] which points to the profile, that in turn contains the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Places.sqlite places.sqlite] (bookmarks and history database) and your cache.
If you are interested in the cachecontents:
    * use about:cache
    * note there are addons that help with viewing cache content
I am not too clear on what you are doing. If you use ''-no-remote'' and start up a Firefox instance with a particular profile then that sees the same bookmarks as any other instance or version of Firefox started with the same profile, but a profile can not be opened twice simultaneously by Firefox. (My understanding of what you say in the other thread is that you have no problem with that.)
Rather clunky and slow, but you could consider writing simple DOS batch files that will modify commandlines or copy files as part of launching Firefox.

  • I do not have Windows Tool bar featured and need to add a new printer to Firefox. How do I do it?

When I access another web server, there is a tool bar on top "File, and with other functions. I do not have this tool bar with Firefox. I bought a new printer, I need to conect to Firefox in order to print.
How do I have the bar and conect the printer

    Hi pastore27-
You should be able to print documents from webpages using Firefox. The print button should display by default. However, it is possible it was removed during an upgrade or due to custom preferences. The way to fix it:
    # Firefox > View > toolbars > customize
    # Select the printer icon and drag it to your browser window
I also found a Support article on restoring toolbars, as you said the toolbar was missing:
[[Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]]
    I hope that helps!

  • Printing a PDF file from Chrome and Firefox - Image missing

I created about 20 marketing sheets for work using the same default settings and a template. They contain several inserted images of drawings and floor plans on each sheet (saved individually). When I try to print a couple of different files directly from the Chrome viewer or the Firefox viewer, it removes one of the images I inserted into my pdf. There are about four of 20 sheets that I am having this issue with. It does show when I view it in IE's viewer though and also when I download the file and open from my downloads. For ease of use, I really need to have it show when viewed in Chrome and Firefox.  Any ideas?

Make sure you're opening the file using the Adobe plugin, not the built-in
    PDF plugins of these browsers:

  • How do I remove the WiseConvert B Community toolbar from Firefox?

How do I remove the WiseConvert B Community toolbar from Firefox? It has suddenly appeared and even though I open FireFox > View>Toolbars> deselect Wise Convert etc. it reappears when I reopen FireFox. Can't find anything in any of my files about it.

If you select Add-ons from the Tool menu, do you see this "WiseConvert" thing as a plugin or extension? If so, you can just disable it from there...

  • Firefox layout issue, help!

I am working on a site for a local non-profit club and have a
question about how firefox views the pages. In safari the page
looks fine, but in firefox two images that are side by side in a
table are supposed to fuse together seamlessly, but they are
    offset. The site is
    www.upstatecruisers.net
so you can see what I am talking about. The issue is with the top
heading image that says "Upstate Cruisers.net" and the image on the
left of it. In firefox you can see that the images don't line up,
    however in Safari they do.
My question is how can I get the two images to line up
correctly in firefox. Can some one take a look at my code and give
me a hand? I am somewhat of a novice. Thanks!!

Click on the left image, and select the <td> cell it is
    in. You can
choose that from the list which runs across the foot of the
    design
window. You'll see that the image tag (at the foot of the
    page is
highlighted once you have clicked on it). The <td> you
    need to choose is
the first to the left of the image tag. Go to properties
    inspector
(Window>Properties) and choose 'Top' from the 'Vert' drop
    options.
Repeat the process for the image on the right.

  • How to view my sync password?

Since I started using Firefox sync I never have to enter user/password (it logs in automatically when I run the browser up - woo hoo). So in the meantime I've forgotten this information. But if I have my browser running and I've sync'd ok that information must be in the browser 'space' somewhere.
