Firefox wants Flash - I don't want Flash - Flash notifier leaves Plugin required notice blocking screen -Firefox rendered more useless!

I run Firefox 2.0 (because I need certain features that won't run in later versions) and whenever I try to run my apps, I get a message saying that Firefox "NEEDS" to load Flash [I don't want Flash], then it says it can't do it and I have to do a "manual install" then it leaves one of the plugin notifiers on the bottom right corner of the screen, effectively blocking my app. It is a ruddy pain in the a*se. How do I stop Firefox wanting to load a piece of software that I don't want?

  • HT5654 don't ever try to install the latest ios to an iPhone4 - it renders it useless and cannot restore to previous either - wot no support !  wont be buying another apple!

Whatever happened to good old fasioned "support" instead of having to wash your dirty laundry in the public domain?
It seems user name disgruntlediphoneuser has already been taken!!
I now have a useless iPhone having tried to (using the iTunes application) upgrade ios to the latest offering because it was advising me to do so - HOW WRONG!?
How does one gets ones iPhone back to a working state when it wont update and it cant restore?  My iphone is just constantly displaying the iTunes logo above an up arrow above a picture of the iPhone plug.  It is connected and can read it in this state - but nothing else is possible - The iPhone equivalent to the blue screen of DEATH!
Support?  what support - there is none - just this never ending loop that eventually gets you back into here - the peoples public washerette.
Anyone from Apple monitoring this ?  I'd like a refund please (though I'd settle for a working iPhone).  And dont keep sending me reminders to upgrade - that is clearly not a viable option.
    Regards,
    anotherdisgruntlediphoneuser!

After a little more digging, decided to do a diagnostics test, and about half way down saw this little gem!:
    DIAGNOSTICS:
    Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
    ======
Well not quite!  Though like most people I do have a Firewall to keep all those nasty hackers out.
So disabled it for 15 minutes & re-ran the 'Restore'
Finally !  Restoring taking place!!  Though looking at the progress bar it might take a few days to restore it all off the cloud.  Well at least I no longer have the iPhone screen of Death!
Note to Apple:  Most people that access the internet would be fools not to have some form of Firewall running, if you must disallow Firewalls when doing updates, then: THIS NOTIFICATION (iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall) SHOULD APPEAR ON THE PRECURSORY WARNING DIALOG!!  It could save a lot of people a lot of unnecessary anxiety - don't you think?

  • Are Java and Flash (or any plugin; as a matter of fact) supported on Linux Firefox 8? I don't see any lib or plugins directory in the install directory.

I don't see any plugin support on installing Linux Firefox 8 tar.bz2 package. I've tried symlinking libnpjp2.so and libflashplayer.so to the isntall directory but Firefox doesn't seem to recognize those. I don't find any mention of disabling plugin support (Java and Flash specifically) on Firefox 8 release notes. Is anybody else facing this issue?

Thanks. Creating a "plugins' directory inside the profile directory, and putting symlinks to plugin files inside the directory solved the problem

  • Firefox 13 flash player not working with video (white screen)

I moved to the new 13 version, but there is a white screen where the video is supposed to run. Youtube is also showing an error (not playing video).
I thought it was the new update to the flash player, but chrome and IE are working fine so it is a firefox thing.

    Hello All,
I just spent hours figuring out a solution for this problem. THEN I noticed that Firefox had an official "response" to the issue, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-crashes-or-does-not-load-firefox-13 Here] .
I didn't try any of the 'fixes' listed in the above article, because I'd already lost my patience and reverted back to a previous version of Flash until a proper and official fix becomes available.
Here are instructions on how to revert back to an old version of the Adobe Flash Plugin.
''' I've attached pictures for all of the steps below''', as a visual reference. To be entirely honest, you may want to just look at the pictures. I tend to go into a lot of detail when typing out instructions, and the pictures may be easier to follow. :-D
'''IMPORTANT :''' First, you must uninstall the current Flash Plugin from the Programs list on your computer. For me (Windows 7), you can do this by going into Control Panel -- Programs and Features -- Find "Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin" in the programs list -- Right Click -- Uninstall.
Now, follow the steps below. Remember: pictures are attached below for visual representations of each step.
*'''Step 1:''' You need to know which version of Flash to download. Open [http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ THIS LINK] in a new tab to go to the main Flash Download page, and at the top of the screen you'll see this: '''Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257 (9.36 MB)''', and directly under it, you'll see this: '''Your system: Windows 32-bit , English, Firefox'''. Remember this information. You will be needing it later.
**'''NOTE:''' That is just a sample. Your system could be Mac, Spanish, whatever. The point is, Adobe will let you know which system you're running, and therefore, which Flash Player you'll need.
*'''Step 2:''' After you've seen which system you're running, click on the ''''Do you have a different operating system or browser?'''' link directly below your system info.
*'''Step 3:''' A new page will appear. You DO NOT have to select your operating system or version from the drop down lists. Just look below the "Download Now" button, and you'll see a message saying ''''If your operating system/browser combination is not displayed, ''click here'' for older versions of Adobe Flash Player.'''' Click on that light blue "Click Here" link.
*'''Step 4:''' A new page will appear again. This page is titled ''''Flash Player Help / Archived Flash Player Versions.'''' When you get to this page, scroll waaay down until you get to the section titled ''''Release and Content Debugger Archives'''', (directly below the chart).
*'''Step 5:''' Click on any of the listed versions of Flash Player to download. I clicked on the topmost one (Released: 4/13/2012, Version: 11.2.202.233). Download this .zip file to your computer.
*'''Step 6:''' Open the .zip file, and install this version of Flash Player as usual. Again, I'm running Windows 7 32 bit, so from here on out, I can only provide instructions for similar Operating Systems. But I'm sure you'll get the idea.
'''For Windows 7:''' Double click on the .zip file you just downloaded to open it. One file folder will be displayed inside (mine was titled ''fp_11.2.202.233_archive''). Open this file folder.
Next, remember which 'bit' your system is running (this information was from Step 1), and click on the appropriate folder. My system is 32 bit, so I clicked on the first 32 bit folder (titled ''11_2r202_233_32bit'').
A whole bunch of files are contained in this folder. Once again, I can only speak for myself, but I chose the '''''flashplayer11_2r202_233_win_32bit'' Windows Installer Package''' file. A setup was executed, and a previous version of Adobe Flash Plugin is now installed on my system.
It's been running flawlessly ever since! YouTube works again, and though I have a huge headache, it works for now until a fix is released by Mozilla.
I don't know a lot of technical terms, but I wanted to at least attempt to explain this fix for others out there with the same YouTube/Flash/Mozilla Firefox problem. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reply and I'll certainly try to help you!

  • 32-bit flash and java plugins freeze firefox and gnome on 64-bit linux

I have installed FC13 64-bit and am running 32-bit firefox 3.6.8 so that I can run flash plugin.
When I start 32-bit firefox 3.6.8 and go to site with flash or java applet, firefox locks up my gnome desktop necessitating a reboot of my computer.
    Firefox 3.6.8 32-bit
    Flash 10.1r82
    Java jdk 1.6.0_15 32-bit
I have used a similar configuration on 32-bit FC13 with 32-bit Firefox 3.6.8 and everything works fine. No lockups.

    Hi!
I finally solved this problem. The 32-bit libflashplugin required a 32-bit libcurl library that is not installed by default on 64-bit linux systems (at least not on Fedora). Once I installed 32-bit libcurl libs, flash and java plugins starting magically working.
In my opinion, 64-bit Fedora has done a poor job with 32-bit compatibility viz a viz 32-bit libs. I will submit an improvement ticket to Fedora folks about installing more 32-bit libs on 64-bit distros.

  • Firefox 3.6.23 having freezing and rebooting issues with Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin

Firefox 3.6.23 is experiencing constant freezing and rebooting issues with Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin, not sure if it is a conflict issue or not.
Since the update there had been no reported issues till today when the blue screen came up on me, this issue prior to plug in 11 had occurred at least 6 times, this issue only happens on firefox.
I do not wish to update since recent firefox browsers seem to have a lot of ongoing issues.

    Anyone able to help please?
    Thanks.

    Dear Adobe.
Yesterday I installed the latest version of Flash Player that auto appeared on my screen. Ever since I can not play video, and my system has become painfully slow. I have Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 and software is up to date. Before this everything was running beautifully. Can you please provide a link so I can uninstall the latest version only. Thank you. Stephen Kress. Melbourne. Australia

When you run the uninstaller, it will uninstall all Flash Player versions.
If you want to revert to an older version after that, get it from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

  • Flash 10 Beta plugin

Has anyone try the Flash 10 Beta plugin on Firefox 3.0.3. I'm
    using Flash
9.0 r124 and encountered audio problems (spluttering,
    disjointed sounds)
with the videos on the CNN news site (
    http://www.cnn.com) when viewing in
    Full Screen mode.
Someone suggested I upgrade to version Flash 10 Beta.
But then, another person cautioned that "Some websites don't
    recognise
Flash 10, as they don't check the version correctly....
This is purely the fault of the Website programmers not
    getting the code
right to detect Flash 10.." As a result, I haven't bothered
    to go thru'
the hassle of uninstalling Flash 9 and then installing the
    version 10 Beta.
    Any advice? Thanks

I am using the prerelease player10 in all of my browsers at
the moment, and have since it was out in the first public beta. I
have yet to find a website that has problems.
It is true, that many detection scripts will break with
player10. A lot of the scripts only look at either the first number
in the major version of the player, or look at the last number in
the major version, and the first number in the minor version.
Either way, the script would see version 1, or version 0.0, and
determine that the player you have is too old.
That said, the embed method that has been standard for quite
some time now does work with player 10, and therefore I haven't run
across any problems with version detection.
Player 10 is going to be publicly released soon (as CS4 will
pretty much require that player 10 is out, and CS4 is rumored to be
shipping around November 14), and if you are concerned I would wait
until then to upgrade. But these detection problems are not new,
every new major version release of the player gives detection
scripts problems. Player 9 was especially bad, likely because a lot
of sites were starting to use the detection scripts to get around
the IE activate to use issues.
Note: Looking at cnn.com videos, I note that I am unable to
go full-screen. It doesn't seem to be picking up the double-click
    that is necessary.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 PlugIn

    Firefox 6.0.2
    Windows 7 64 bit
I installed Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin today. When I go to Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features it indicates that I have the new program as well as Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX. Should I delete Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX?
Where can I find Flash Player 10 Plugin on my computer?
    Thank you.

The ActiveX version of Flash Player is used for Internet Explorer.  Unless you really don't need it, I'd suggest keeping it installed.  You won't find Flash Player in your start menu, but the actual files can be found here:
    Windows 32 bit: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    Windows 64 bit: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

  • FLASH PLAYER MISSING PLUGIN PLEASE HELP!!

Since the Last Safari Update,I've been constantly getting a missing plugin message whenever FlashPlayer was required.
I have tried uninstaling/installing FlashPlayer from the adobe website. But still always asked to download the latest version. And later did disk permission repair/check, nothing worked. I even disabled som of the plugins i had read in the discussion that might cause some problems such as the java cocoa plugin, but flash player's plugin is still missing.
    PLEASE HELP!

Latest version of Flash is 10.3.181.26
It installs in Macintosh HD/Library/Internet plug-ins and is available to all browsers.
Make sure you're getting the right one; there is  one for Firefox, Safari and Opera and a seperate one for Chrome.
Best to install with all browsers closed (note - you have to open and authorise the installer - it doesn't install automatically on download).
If a browser's open, quit and reopen it to enable the plug-in.
Be wary of error messages claiming you don't have the right plug-in. Don't follow links from them, they're often used to redirect you to malware sites.
And ensure JavaScript is enabled when trying to view Flash; it won't work without it.

  • HT1551 just updated my apple TV and whit light is flashing continuously and nothing is on the screen anymore.

Can anyone help with this please?
Just updated the Apple TV and the white light is now flashing quickly and nothing is on the screen.  Can't access it with the remote from the Ipad.

Same problem here.  Long time Apple fan, own lots of their products... Greatly disappointed.
Bought a brand new Apple TV, worked fine for 3 days but then the picture went blank (possibly after an auto update?) and I observed a quickly flashing white light on the Apple TV.  Manual indicates this means it is "having problems" (no kidding) and recommends restoring the software via a micro-USB cable (cable not provided).
Acquired a cable and attempted this fix but after following the procedure the Apple TV never showed up in iTunes, so I'm unable to perform the restore.  Returning the device today, not sure if we want to get another or just give up and save the $100.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11 plugin not working right

I have Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin, Widows Internet Explorer 8 and Microsoft Windows XP, version 5.1.2600.  Why is it not dowloading pictures?

You might as well stop wasting your time. The problem seems to be centered around FireFox (since Adobe Flash seems to work fine with IE and Chrome).  After FireFox begin running Flash as a separate process, it no longer retains preset volume settings for Flash, instead, each new FireFox window resets it to max volume. As a result, several times I've had my ears blasted (this can lead to hearing loss and/or damaged audio equipment). This only happens with newer versions of Flash. Consequently, I no longer use the latest versions in FireFox. I'm thinking about totally dropping FireFox and moving completely to Chrome. Looks like neither Adobe or FireFox are gonna budge to fix the problem.
