Firefox was recently installed for me. When I open Firefox the Google home page appears on the right of the screen and I cannot delete it. I want Googlebut only WHEN I want it.

Firefox will no longer open completely. My home page appears, but I can't do anything with it--can't use "Help," can't search the Web, can't even use "Sign Out." I have to close it entirely to get out of it. A box comes up and says "Yahoo Mail is loading especially slowly" and tells me my computer speed is slow. But this is the same computer I've always used for Firefox, and Yahoo comes up quickly and completey through Internet Explorer (which is how I'm sending this message). Can anyone help me load Firefox so that it works? I even downloaded the latest version of Firefox, but it makes no difference. Thanks.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
You can also try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

When I highlight a word with the contextual "Search Google for", it opens up the Google home page in a new tab without giving results for the highlighted word. Instead it gives a blank search form.Is there a change in Firefox 6.0.2?

Tried that. Also tried SUPERAntiSpyware, ccleaner, HitmanPro. Removed anything that was reported. Problem persists.
Chrome is also affected. But couldn't find any alternative way of not having Ask.com loaded as did in Firefox.
Internet Explorer was initially affected. After the Ask.com search engine is removed that problem appears to have gone away.

Interestingly, yesterday afternoon the Chrome browner new tab no longer hijacked by Ask.com. The symptom was there in the morning and had gone away in the late afternoon. Nothing was done except a few days ago I blocked everything on that page. The problem with Firefox continue to persist I didn't do the same blocking on it. I am going to try the same and then use anti-spyware to clear away all cookies and see what happens.

I keep seeing the same ads over and over, even on the Google home page when I open Safari. It's not an inappropriate ad, it looks like it's for website design but I keep seeing it on sites I never see ads on, such as Apple's website. Do I have malware?

I'm just wondering if I have a malware or adware problem. I've ran scans using iAntivirus and Clamxav but they both indicate there's no issues. I'm currently having to start up in safe mode so I won't see the ads. Any ideas?

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of the date it was posted, as far as I know.They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment after a few days from now should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.

When I launch Firefox 5, two (2) windows open: the "What's New" window and a second window with the correct Home Page. How do I stop the "What's New window from opening when I launch Firefox 5?

hello, this might happen when firefox is not able to properly save preferences in its profile folder. please try this: Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and then click help [[Image:Help-29]] > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder". then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named '''user.js''' (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.

Firefox will only show the google home page or a File not Found error, no matter which site I try to go to

Ever since 3.64.4 was installed, Firefox opens in my default homepage but whenver I try to navigate anywhere else, it goes to http://www.google.fr/ (I live in France, therefore the .fr) OR it says Error 404 File not Found with the Google logo. Also the google logo shows up beside lots of my bookmarks though they are not google websites.
The same thing happens when opening in Safe Mode, and after installing the Adobe Flash 10.1 plugin.
I've used Firefox for years and never had a problem.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Why does the Google home page scroll vertically in Firefox?

It scrolls vertically only in Firefox. It doesn't scroll when I'm logged out, or if there is a special doodle.

Firefox vers 5, crashes continually. Plus, it doesn't hold my home page. Needs reset every time the app has been closed. So with each crash, another home page reset. How can these issues be corrected. I know how to set the Home Page in the Option tab.

Closing Firefox 5.0 resets Home Page to /www.searchqu.com. I know how to set it in the options tab.Earlier versions never had this issue. Plus, I return after being away to find that a "crash error" apologizing for the inconvenience. How2 can this be corrected?

After upgrading to Firefox 8, I click to run browser, a box opens stating "Checking compatibility of addons..." then opens 2 tabs.One "Getting started..." the other home page. How do I stop the compatibilty scan and the "Getting started" tab?

This actually started before I downloaded the update. I figured it to be a way to force one to download the update. After installing the update, I am still being forced to close the extra tab and cancel its scan for compatibility.

When I open a saved document in pages, then close it right away without making any changes, why does it ask if I would like to save the page or all new info will be lost?

I have a few saved documents and when I open them to view them quick, sometimes when I close it, I will get asked if I would like to save the document or all my new info will be lost. I didnt change anything so Im not sure why it asks me that. When I open the document again, all the info is there and nothing is different. Thanks

Unless they were Word documents, Pages has done nothing really, but it is updating date information in the file.
It is annoying but just ignore it and don't save.

Hello when I got my Iphone 4s and plugged it into my laptop and it started to sync I didn't realize that it also put Photo Folders with many pics on my phone and I want to remove them but can't do it like I can with the pics I have taken with my phone. I want these other Photo Files off my phone as I know they take up room

You remove them the same way you put them there. The sync process.
Deselect them in itunes and sync.

So when I plug my ipod into my computer it recognizes it and my ipod starts charging. However when i open itunes my ipod doesn't appear. I went on the support site and redownloaded itunes and all those and still nothing?

When I plug it in it still charges however it doesnt show up on my library.

You can start by checking the Home page setting to see if that still links to the Google Home page (http://www.google.com/firefox)
