Hello. I have windows xp sp3,and latest firefox, i think 26. And sometimes, not all the time,but most of it,my web browsing is so slow, i mean google search,web pages load,etc. Like minutes before it loads,and when finally does,sometimes i see only text ,in web pages,not images.
I have speed,as i can download torrents with 7 Mb/sec. Just web surfing is slow,painfully slow.
My question is,if you bear with me, is this a browser problem or a windows one ??
(i dont exclude even the possibility for the nice guys at microProose to inject a thing in windoze to make it slow,so we upgrade,in the light of recent discoveries:) .

Thanks for the tip. I took the following steps:
1) Backed up the existing profile (presumably corrupted somewhere);
2) Deleted the existing profile;
3) Moved the existing Firefox to the Trash and downloaded a fresh copy;
4) Started Firefox (thus allowing it to create its default profile)
5) Copied the following files from the backup copy of the previous profile: places.sqlite, key3.db, signons.sqlite, permissions.sqlite, persdict.dat, cert8.db ---
I'm posting this from a Firefox browser, so I guess I'm OK now.

I keep getting message "mozila Firefox not responding." It takes minutes to down load a site - some times it just gets in a loop and never down loads. Then when I try to click on it again screen goes opaque and i get the same message.

All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

Ok so I'm a design student at a community college (about to graduate soon and will be continuing on getting my BFA) I have all of the creative cloud suite. I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc. Recently I started having problems with all of the programs. Whenever I work in the programs they would run extremely slow. Recently, I tried to save a .eps file that was only about 1.2 GB and it took me an hour to save, and this was when I was working off of my computer desktop. When I place the .eps file in Indesign, everything would go blank and it would freeze up. Also I had an error sign popping up from InDesign saying "out of memory". Im not sure if that is related to my computer's hard drive or indesign itself. I just started using creative suite so the creative suite is pretty new to me. Sometimes in Indesign when I do the Command+w to preview the whole project, it would be completely black and showing nothing and I would hit escape and the whole software screws up. Then I would do a force quit on the software and then Indesign would say there was a serious error and must shut down. That error message has been popping up several times now. I also talked to Apple support and they suggested me doing a Repair disk utility (which I am currently doing right now) and also recommended me contacting Adobe since they know their software. I checked software to see if there is any updates that is needed but everything is up to date. I'm not quite sure why its acting like this so I'm reaching out both to Apple and Adobe to see if both can help me solve the problem. If anybody had experienced this problem before and could help me troubleshoot this issue that would be great.

I installed the creative suite about a year ago, and this just started happening last weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem and that it would last for a day since I was working on InDesign all day and Illustrator and it usually goes away after I finish using the programs. But this has been occurring for about a week now and has not gone away. and yes the other programs are running slow. I was trying to resize some images for a client and Photoshop was acting extremely slow when I was trying to resize the image and also place an image into a 8x10 document in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to find my system specifications.

You don't need to restart your computer to open Firefox again: you just need to close it manually through your application manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC in Processes tab). Anyway, hopefully this support article is what you need:

What's probably happening is that you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Recently my movies and videos take forever to load and when they start playing it's for a second or two at a time. Have to hit the play icon over and over, did not use to be this way they work great on my desktop and iPod

Recently I have been experiencing my downloaded videos and online vids taking a long time to load and when they do, they will only play for a few seconds at best and you have to hit the play icon over and over. Never had this problem before with the 20 plus vids I have any suggestions would be appreciated

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

Hi, my name is farrell ivander, i have problems, if i open my keynote, numbers, pages, aperture, iMovie, or iPhoto, and garageband, they automatically get updated, even if there is no updates available from the app store... could somebody tell me what the heck should i do except go off-line when opening them? and i have tested it on my friend's mac, it doesn't need updates every time i open it! why is it just me?
(the only thing that can stop is that if i go offline mode)
macbook pro, 13 inch, late 2011, intel i5 2.4 GHz storage: 500 GB, memory, 4 GB.

What is your MacOS X version and Aperture version?
What are your "System Preferences > App Store" settings? Have you enabled automatic updates?
Do you have older versions of the apps in question installed? Perhaps on a different part ions of you system drive?

Firefox takes a long time to load a website and sometimes won't open at all

Firefox is running really slow and takes ages to load a website if it loads at all, i'm having the same problem with other browsers but Skype and Windows Messenger are working fine. I've reset my wireless a number of times but this doesn't solve the problem. It was fine earlier today but since this evening every time i attempt to open a website it won't work.

Can you check your Windows Firewall settings? It's possible that it's routing Firefox requests differently. At least one other Firefox user has reported that his Windows Firewall was set to block Firefox 3.6.

Firefox 4 is slow, even with an empty profile and fresh install. What am I doing wrong?

I installed FF4 on a couple of Windows-XP machines and it is very slow with our web application. FF3.6.16 is at least 5 times faster. I disabled the GPU hardware support but it did not help. I did a clean install and removed all existing profiles. So no bookmarks, cache or whatever is present. It still is very slow.

thanks for this info. I am also doing an ERP 2004 IDES install. I have all the 8 export files ready to go and am in the process of installing standard ERP 2004.
My question is, where do the 21 export images on the Marketplace come into the picture? I assume they are required for IDES (what else would require 14GB worth of files?) but am unclear at what point these files get used...? They are definitely for IDES, since they are marked "DVD IDES SAP ERP 2004 Install Export 1-21".
So far, my installer has not asked for these files, and the installer is the standard ERP 2004 master, disc 51031149_4, not related to IDES. These files are for Windows (exe and rar format), but I think they could be used on UNIX since they are data files inside...
any ideas?

When loading websites with a lot of thumbnails that are linked for example to imageshack Firefox 6 will just freeze and become unresponsive. If i press the reset page buttom sometimes they will load or sometimes firefox will crash, why is this?

If a website has a lot of thumbnails or animated gifs for example firefox will become unresponsive and sometimes either lag and use a lot of system resources i have seen it as high as 1.2GB or it will just lock up and crash.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

IWeb pages on .mac - snail pace and movies won't load

As a novice, I gave iWeb a try using my .mac account. Two problems: 1) even with a broadband connection, the pages load very slowly on a fast pc using firefox (on Safari, it is very fast) - only pictures (lowered resolution). 2) every time I try to publish a movie (e.g. share to web from iDVD, the movie comes up as a large 'Q' for quicktime, but doesn't play.
Can anyone help???

20" iMac G5 2.1 Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I have sent an iMovie file to iWeb, reducing its size to about 10MB (from 3.2 GB) and then added it to an iWeb movie web template. Works in iWeb, but when I upload my web pages with the movie, it doesn't work in Safari, Firefox or IE. Thought it would be seamless as iWeb is part of the iLife package.
Again, the web pages load fast on my mac using safari (each pic is like 300 kb), but when I use my pc, it takes ages, even with a DSL broadband connection, and dial up, each page takes hours to load. I find that a bit unusual. Is 300kb (orig photo is 8 mpxl (about 4mb) still too big for web publishing.
Will a website work faster with a commericial web tool like dreamweaver, which I have, but haven't had time to figure it out?

Does Firefox not respond at all, or is the wrong thing happening in Firefox?
Does Keyboard Express run purely externally (just sends hotkeys to Firefox) or does it have an add-on? You can check to make sure any add-ons are enabled on the Add-ons page. Here's how:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
(1) In the left column, click Plugins.
If anything here is related to Keyboard Express, trying change it from "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate". This might not take full effect until the next time you exit and start Firefox up again.
(2) In the left column, click Extensions.
If an extension is disabled, it appears at the end of the list on a gray background. If you find one related to Keyboard Express, you can use the Enable button to re-enable it. If Firefox will not allow that, you may need to update the extension.

Both safari and firefox are telling me that websites are not "verified" and that they cannot identify the sites

When I turned on my computer today, the date and time were completely wrong. I then went to sign into familiar websites I use (gmail, facebook, etc) and both safari and firefox had pop ups that said that they could not "identify" and "verify" the sites. Once I verified, the sites would go through but wouldn't be completely loaded and won't work.

The date & time MUST be set correctly (within a few minutes and the correct Time Zone), or httpS: sites cannot work.
