Firefox will not connect to any website
I use Firefox to connect to the internet, on a WindowsXP and Windows 7 machine. A day or two ago, both had updates added on shut down. Now, Firefox doesn't work on the Windows 7 machine. Error message looks like: "Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
Internet Explorer works. Added Mozilla to list of allowed sites on the Firewall, still same message. Removed and reloaded Mozilla, still same message. I assume the Microsoft update prevents Mozilla (the old "DOS ain't done till LOTUS won't run" updated to "Windows ain't done till Firefox won't run") from working.
Okay, here is my answer to this problem. At least it fixed my problem and firefox now works fine.
Prior to this problem I was running zonealarm (free firewall) everything worked fine until I removed zonealarm free and installed Comodo free firewall. That is when the trouble started. firefox failed and IE kept working. I tried everything posted here nothing worked for me.
I resorted to "REGEDIT" and removed everything in my registry that regedit would allow that had the name of "zonealarm" on it. Didn't even have to reboot my system, firefox worked first thing. Everything else is fine also.
[note: this is not a slam against Lavasoft's ZoneAlarm firewall. It is just that UNINSTALL programs do not always do a thorough job of removing parts of programs in your systems and registry cleaner programs do not pick them up either.]
USE CARE, "REGEDIT" IS A POWERFUL AND DANGEROUS TOOL TO USE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NOT A SOMEWHAT ADVANCED USER. USE CARE WITH "REGEDIT!"
Good luck.

Firefox will not connect to any website *at all* since upgrading to latest version. No mention of Firefox anywhere in firewall- and anti-malware-related services (Intego VirusBarrier X6 V10.6.13).

Firefox will not connect to any site since downloading new upgrade.
Firefox will not connect to any websites since installing the latest upgrade. Google Chrome and Internet do work.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the
previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as
trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet
again;
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see

Since updating to Firefox 4 on my OSX 10.5.8 mac Firefox will not go to any website
Since updating to Firefox 4 on my OSX 10.5.8 mac Firefox will not go to any website. Firefox will launch but it won't load anything, the page is entirely blank - no home page loads - nothing. Also - It will not let me install any add ons. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. other apps such as Safari and Mail work as normal. I need Firefox - please help if you can. Thanks
You don't. Since you have an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

Firefox crashed. Closed all my windows - did the auto update thingy with accompanying message. Brought up the windows that had closed as usual - all said "problem loading page". Firefox will now not connect to internet. It's not a problem with my connection etc - internet explorer is working fine. Anyone else have this problem today?
So, it's been 13 hours now and no answers. From reading the Airport Discussion board "
Airport has a self assigned IP address, 169.254.175.198 and will not be able to connect to the internet"
is a very common problem and I find it hard to believe Apple has not responded with a fix. I may have to take it into a Genius Bar and see what they can do but I do not have high hopes.
You know, I was talking to someone last week and the name Apple came up. "Ah", he said, "the Evil Empire". Their success has made them much more brash than MS ever was. -
Firefox will not go to any website and i have done all the suggestions
I can get internet explorer to work but not firefox. It stopped working before i updated it. I get this messageUnable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.you have definitely tried the correct steps, all you would need to do now is a back up & restore to factory settings. If after that the issue remains then you would most likely need a replacement unit.

Firefox will not connect to internet, period; all troubleshooting on my end has been done
Firefox will not connect to any webpage. This is occurring daily and constantly. I have road runner service for internet access. I have done all troubleshooting on my end -- emptying cache, resetting modem, resetting router, etc. I cannot connect to internet. My computer is checked -- Windows troubleshooting, etc. Firefox has also been crashing at least 4-5 times a day on average. Sometimes I have a couple of days free of crashes. Most times, this is becoming infuriating. I have to be on line for work. I have gone through checks and pinging with the internet service through Time Warner Cable. What is going on? It's impossible that every website in the world has a broken server!!!
So you also rebooted your router correct? Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

Firefox will not connect to certain major `websites" Why? I can go to Google and access
In the last 4 days Firefox will not connect/find certain major websites. Basically says that server not found.
What's the deal here? I use windows 7 and have the most current
firefox update.A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Firefox won't connect to any website, but other browsers will.
When I enter something in the URL bar -- google.com, localhost, http://127.0.0.1/ an IP address, there's a split second flash, then the bar becomes empty again and nothing has happened. It looks like Firefox isn't even trying to connect to the internet.
Yesterday, all was well when I was running FF on Windows 7. After the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, Firefox failed. I upgraded again to Windows 8.1, hoping for the best, but it's the same problem.
I have walked through the firewall issue, several times (the only one running is Windows' built-in firewall). I eventually uninstalled Firefox, including all my custom settings, and reinstalled from scratch, twice. And even this pure, clean version of Firefox will not connect to the internet.
I'm a computer-literate web developer and would be happy to look at log files, or run some tool (Fiddler?) to see what's happening at a low level, if only I knew where to look.Others with similar problems please look at the article

MM..,
mm... That just about sums up my thought on reading your question. Rather odd this one. I will list some brief ideas and number them to make them easier to refer to or comment on.
Obviously this does not affect all Firefox 27 on Windows 8. It must be something fairly specific to your setup. I have no idea what your problem is and you have tried some of the obvious troubleshooting steps.
Rather a general shotgun approach but the best I can do is suggest this list
# Clean Install <br />Presumably you will have tried deleting the program path files in order to get a clean install.<br /> [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox]]_5-reinstall-firefox <br />(See also note about ESR install)
# Firefox SafeMode will also have been tried <br /> [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] <br />Remembering to disable or uninstall plugins, safemode does not do that.
# Try a new clean additional test Profile. <br /> [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles#w_creating-a-profile]]_creating-a-profile
#Windows Safe Mode
# Install and try Firefox ESR <br /> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
#* As a developer you are probably interested in using that anyhow. <br /> Either a customised install as an additional browser <br /> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions#Installing_multiple_versions <br />Or use the unofficial Firefox portable. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-esr
#* Helps rule out: Firefox code or feature regressions, Corrupted program files
#* Should quickly enable you to see a working Firefox again
# Run scans for malware problems with multiple tools
#* [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]
# Is it only network problems ? <br /> Confirm you are you able to open local html files on the same partition ?
# Firefox's Network Console should throw light on the situation. There is also the Firefox Error Console and Profiler (Profiler is now built in)

Firefox will not connect to another web site and it will not reopen after I close it.
I have removed Firefox and reinstalled it. I have tried to disable addons but it still will not open unless I reboot my computer. If this problem cannot be fixed easly, I will have to remove Firefox for good. When it is open, it will not connect to any URL I enter. When I close it it will not reopen and I get a message that says I have to restart Windows. This bug needs to be fixed. It worked one day and the next day it would not work.

After downloading the Firefox 3.6.15 update, my problems began. Firefox would not connect to the Internet. When I rebooted my PC, Firefox said that it couldn't access any Web sites. I uninstalled Firefox, then downloaded and installed Firefox 3.6.15. I still have the same problem: Firefox will not connect to the Internet. I am running Windows XP, service pack 3. I never had problems with Firefox until I installed version 3.6.15.
I have XP Pro. I tried installing 3.6.15 and could not open it. I did a system restore and 3.6.14 would no longer open. I tried again installing 3.6.15 and got a message that the previous version had not uninstalled properly. Tried uninstalling.
As a precaution I used MozBackup to save my bookmarks etc. and also saved a system restore point.
I then clicked Start, My Computer, drive C, Program Files and deleted the Firefox folder.
I installed 3.6.15 and it is now working fine with all my bookmarks and addons loaded automatically. -
