Firefox will not display basic content on certain (common) sites

Hi there:
On certain websites (common) ones Firefox will not display options on the website.
These sites include Yahoo Mail, Twitter, Weebly.
An example would be if there is a menu of choices such as delete, ad, tweet, etc. instead of displaying correctly it looks like a box with 4 dots.
The other browsers are fine. I have the latest Firefox and this started with the previous version as well. I uninstalled/reinstalled without change.
Windows 7 Computer/Norton Anti Virus.
If allowed I can upload a screen shot.
Thank you.

> But I really don't want to allow all sites to use
> their own fonts, just, in this case, Twitter.
Exactly. It's not a very good solution to be forced to give up control/accessibility on every Web site, to fix a problem with just a few popular ones like Twitter.
It seems like a pathetic accessibility fail on the part of Yahoo, Twitter, etc., but since the practice is likely to persist and spread, please, Firefox:
=> allow site-specific configuration of "allow pages to choose their fonts."

  • Firefox will not display on the screen even though with Process Explorer I see Firefox.exe active but no CPU usage

I use Firefox v10.0.2 as default browser on Dell XPS8300 e/w Intel Core i5 & Windows 7 Ultimate and Compaq Presario CQ57 e/w Intel Core i3 & Windows 7 Home. More frequently on the (about 90% of attempts) than the Dell (50% of attempts) Firefox will not display to the screen when I click on icon. When it happens I cannot display other programs. I specifically say display because I believe Firefox has started. To circumvent the problem I installed Process Explorer on both machines and start this program first then click on Firefox icon. When problem occurs I can see Firefox.exe process in Process list; some CPU consumed but, then, no CPU activity. If I click on Firefox icon again another process opens in Process list but with same response - some CPU consumed and then no CPU activity. If I have 2 processes running and kill the 1st process, the 2nd will display and everything from then on is normal. If I do not open a 2nd process but kill the 1st process then click on Firefox icon Firefox is displayed and everything from then on is normal. This problem has occurred since original installation on both new machines. I've updated video drivers in both machines.

Ok, let's see if we can fix this and get it working for you!
First, if you start Firefox in [[safe mode|safe mode]] (restart your computer first, then when you open Firefox, hold down the shift key) does it start up more reliably? This is usually caused by a faulty add-on. If it does help, then restart Firefox, go into the Firefox button, then add-ons, and disable your extensions one by one until you find the trouble maker.
Also, try updating to Firefox 11, it has several bug fixes that might make life easier here.
Just as a few basic troubleshooting steps to make sure we have all the bases covered,
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. you can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Regardless of which of the 3 chart choices you click on only the Interactive chart comes up.
It worked earlier this week and still works in “Exploder”.
Anyone know what’s going on, I don’t want to go back to “Exploder”

  • Updated to the latest revision. Firefox will not display my chosen home page without clicking on home icon.

Since latest update...Firefox will not allow a new page to be opened from a link in a current page. It will allow a new tab to be opened (with tabbed browsing checked) but i prefer a new page. Even in tabbed browsing links to things like a pdf will not work at all.
Firefox WILL NOT close. X-ing out will close the window but I can not get back to Firefox without closing it in task manager.
Firefox will not display my chosen home page without clicking on home icon.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Firefox will not display videos since Yosemite migration

    Good day!
I run an early 2011 15" MacBook Pro, 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4g 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory, and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384 Mo. Firefox is 34.0.5.
Since I migrated to Yosemite (10.10.1), the browser I use (Firefox) will not display the videos, but plays the sound out of them...
I tried to clear the PRAM (NVRAM) with the Command (⌘), Option, P, and R, but it doesn't work. I even tried to shut down the graphic acceleration option in Firefox, to no avail...
What else should I do? Any solution out there?
Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you all!

  • Firefox will not display Yahoo Calendar.

Firefox will not display Yahoo Calendar (I have tried on four separate computers).
When I use Internet Explorer, the Yahoo Calendar does display fine.
Do you know why Yahoo Calendar will not display in Firefox? Is there any solution?

Are you using Firefox 3.5? I am not sure whether Yahoo Toolbar still supports it.. Have you considered upgrading to Firefox 3.6.x or Firefox 5.0? :)

  • Ipad will not display email content

ipad will not display email content just 2 lines

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or ... Quit the mail app completely and relaunch mai. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Launch the mail app.

  • Firefox will not display certain features of websites in windows 8.1

I've upgraded to windows 8.1. Installed Firefox (now ver. 26) right away. I go to the same websites to pay bills, do work stuff etc for the past few years.
Those websites work fine most of the time. RANDOMLY (at least to me) 2 websites have been giving me trouble for certain features:
    1. Banking website will not display my online bill pay. It does not crash, it just says "unable to display page" and for me to check my firewall etc, reload page, etc. When I go to other features for my bank, it works fine except for the bill pay.
    2. My work website has a feature to display paychecks etc. It give me the same message of "unable to display".
Here's the weird thing: I open and close firefox a few times and the page "magically" works.
I load the same page in IE 11 and I have the same problem.
I load the same page in chrome 32.0.1700.107m and I never have this problem.
I load the same pages in firefox ver. 26 on a windows 7 machine and it work just fine.
I'm at a loss since Firefox is my primary browser and only have the other browsers for the occasional incompatibilities.
Any ideas? I've concluded that it's a windows 8.1 issue/compatibility but would like to try other solutions before I downgrade back to windows 7.
FYI: I've turned off windows firewall and the same issue still occurs. I've updated to the latest adobe flash, shockwave, and Java. I only have one extension installed - adblocker (which is disabled for these websites).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).

  • Firefox will not display characters that were added by the webmaster on user PC?

I employed a company to design a site for me which is great. Then I asked them to add a small button/image in the back end (admin area) that when clicked on will send an email. No image will display so I got them to change it to Text format, still it is not showing on my end. The design company are able to send me emails showing where it is but I cannot see it. It is worthwhile mentioning that it will not display in either IE8 or Opera, Is it a firewall problem ? Or a setting on Windows 7?

  • Firefox will not display my photo website properly nor play the music from it on my new computer. I have 2 other PCs and it works fine on those.

Just set up a new PC and downloaded Firefox. It will not display my Zenfolio Photo website correctly nor will it play the music that accompanies the main page slideshow. I have 2 other PCs and it works fine on them. All are Windows 7 Home Premium.

Note that there is nothing wrong with setting Flash to "Ask to Activate" and click the Lego block icon on the Navigation Toolbar to activate the Flash plugin when needed.
You can verify on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page that the Flash plugin is working and which version you have once you have installed the plugin and checked the setting in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins"

  • Newest firefox does not display aspects of simple html web site correctly

Newest Firefox does not display certain web pages correctly whereas Safari does- previous versions of Firefox worked fine.
The web pages are simple html using bumpers to position photos. Several of these pages allow "see through" in these bumper areas of prior page. It appears that Firefox is not releasing its memory of the prior page. Each of these pages is a specific address and should be loaded as a separate solo page. Please look at html pages 10 and 14 of this site. It seems that the code for these bumpers is not being honored and the persistent memory of the prior page is being intermixed. I cleared the cache and reinstalled Firefox with no change in problem.
    Please help.
    My business is struggling...

Hello - thanks for your response!
I reinstalled Firefox 7.0.1 - still have the problem.
    Cache was cleared.
I tried restarting in safe mode also with no change.
    I reinstalled Firefox 6.0.1 - works fine.
I have attached a screen shot showing the problem on 1 of the pages.
These are simple html pages that use .gif bumpers to help position the photos in some cases but not on all of the site pages. The sample screen shot shows the compound problem - the code for the gif bumpers is not being honored and part of the image from the prior page is showing through - the prior page is not being fully released. Each page is a separate entity with a separate address, so when the new page loads there should be no evidence or visibility of the prior one.
This simple bit of website building should be working on this browser, on this Mac with this OS. Safari works. Firefox 6 works.
Sample problem pages are 10 and 14.

    Thank you so much!

  • Firefox will not display my HTML file as its contents - only displays the HTML text (firefox 5.0).

I can download a file as a Firefox file (zipped) and it displays successfully. Then I can save the file as a text file and see the HTML text.
When I work on the HTML text file and then try to display the modified file in Firefox 5.0 and Windows XP, Firefox will only show the HTML text, not the display of the contents of the file.

Make sure that the file has a .html file extension if you want Firefox to render the content.

  • IE8 will not display web content like other browsers....Help!

    Hello Everyone:
I designed webpages in DW5. The pages view nicely in every browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari) with the exception of INTERNET EXPLORER 8. That browser will display nothing but the page background image and no other content. I'm tired of IE8 flipping me the bird on this......what might be the issue here? Any information you all can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Note: I determined is not a localized issue by checking the site from work on IE and got the same result......blank screen (middle finger). Help!!!!!!

It depends what the errors are. You can try running Commands > Clean Up HTML from within Dreamweaver. That might fix some errors. However, most errors are likely to need fixing manually.
For future reference, when you need help with display problems, provide a URL of the problem page. Sometimes fixing one error can eliminate many others.

  • Safari will not display iframe content

I have a webpage that uses an iframe that I create.  Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox all display the iframe correctly.  On Safari, it is blank.  The frame is there but nothing is in it.  I can see from Wireshark that the content of the iframe is received but it is not displayed.  This occurs on both Mac & Windows..
For example, if I use "“<html><body>CHECK THIS OUT</body></html>” for my iframe code, "CHECK THIS OUT" is displayed in Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox but on Safari it is blank.
Does something special need to be done on Safari to create an iframe that will be displayed that is not needed on other browsers?

You may find some improved online performance with Panther 10.3.9 with
the last supported Flash and Shockwave players installed (older ones have
to be uninstalled) and though the use of Camino browser since it is up-to-date.
There still will be some limitations; but if you have the correct Flash/Shockwave
players for Panther installed and get Camino, and use it as a default replacement
for that ancient Safari, that would make a difference. Also, it always makes sense
to get more RAM in an older computer since they usually shipped with very little.
In the case of older computers, often the capacity of the hard disk drive was also
a matter of marginalization. A large enough drive to have plenty of free space in
it, after applications and the OS X is installed, so the system can have room for
temporary files and Virtual Memory, then it can run the last supported OS X ok.
An externally enclosed bootable hard drive (FireWire enclosed unit) could be
used to add space or a second system for use when at a desktop, so for the
sake of discussion, the internal drive would not necessarily need replaced to
check out a different operating system that may need more room in a drive.
RAM is an easy fix; and a new browser from Camino.org - plus those players.
    Good luck & happy computing!
