Firefox will not launch after latest OS X security update

Just installed latest Apple software update on Snow Leopard. Now, Firefox will not launch. Checked system logs and get this:

The following may or may not be related. Before installing the update, I had lots of these messages in my logs:

Sounds like you may have a check in the box for HTTP and/or HTTPS proxy servers, but you are not behind a proxy server. Safari and Software Update use the HTTP port, Mail doesn't, and Firefox ignores the Mac OS preferences and uses it's own proxy settings.
Go to System Preferences > Network > active connection > Proxies tab and if there are proxies checked, UNcheck them.

Yes, first, I would run Disc Utility; Verify Disc, Verify Disc Permissions, & Repair Disc Permissions.
Then I would go here > http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ for the .dmg file download.
Then I would reinstall iTunes. So, unless you do not have enough free space on your hard drive, that should work.
Otherwise, it may be time for some spring cleaning...

Firefox will not launch after download. How can I get this to work?

I was able to download FF beta 4 after trying to install 3.? Both were able to download, but neither of them will come up with the launch wizard to complete the download.

Save the file to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that icon after the download has finished.<br />
If you keep having problems then temporarily disable your anti-virus software during the download and installation in case it is causing problems.

Widget "Send SMS" will not turn after latest Mac OS X update (10.4.11?)

After the latest update of Mac OS X (which may or may not be the cause), I choose the "Recipient" and the "done" panel which usually turns the Widget around to the message side has gone, and now I cannot sent and SMS !

Let's start by asking how you went about applying the update. Did you do any preparation like using Disk Utility to check your hard drive for problems, repairing permissions, etc? Did you continue to use your machine while the update was being applied? It is very important to make sure your system is in a stable state before applying any update.
Another source of headaches, especially for Safari, is that third party plugins often cause problems when a new version of Safari/WebKit are released. Do you have any such plugins installed? If so list them here and someone may be able to pick out the bad guy. The place to look for these critters is /Library/Internet Plug-Ins or ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins (the Library folder at the top of your hard drive and the Library folder in your user directory respectively). PithHelmet is one of the usual suspects as well as any of the Safari "enhancers" out there.
Unless your update went totally south you should be able to get Safari working again.

Will not boot after 10.10.2 security update

I downloaded the security update as usual. computer starts to boot back up, gray screen with Apple logo & progress bar gets 2/3 & stops.
I restarted, used the disc utility to check & repair errors. nothing found. Re-installed os, but nothing works.
i know this would be a pain, but if I remove the internal drive. Place a new on inside the machine & put the old one in an external enclosure. Install os on computer & drag old files from external drive. Would this work?

I can get to the internet recovery, instal lion, but it won't install, says I have a newer version installed & it won't let me do anything.

firefox will not launch after upgrading. Every time I try to launch I am advised to reboot to complete the upgrade.

I think you already known that latest firefox version 13.0.x don't work with xp sp1, needs sp2 and above.

then Download the latest version(with your safari) from :

and Install the version that you have downloaded (13.0.1).
Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

After updating to the AMD 13.1 drivers, on my 5770, Firefox will not launch; it does, however, show in the task manager. I should note that it will start in Windows safe mode; when I had it open in safe mode, I used that time to disable all plugins, add-ons, extensions, and created a new profile. This did not help. I also tried launching Firefox in to its safe mode, and had no luck with this either.
I experienced this problem once before, when trying to update to a previous version. I believe I was moving from 12.1 to 12.4, but I'm not 100% sure of that. Ultimately, my solution then was to retrograde back to my previous driver. The steps mentioned in the previous paragraph did not help at that time, not did a complete reinstall.
15 years of computer repair experience, and this has me baffled.

By any chance, did you disable Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration? To avoid a round-trip through Windows Safe Mode, you could try adding these to your prefs.js file while Firefox is closed.
To quickly open the folder with the correct prefs.js file, you can use
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Because Firefox may overwrite change to this file at shutdown, you should edit it after closing Firefox and allowing a few moments for Firefox to finish updates to the files.
These are the preferences I think are most relevant:
user_pref("gfx.content.azure.enabled", false);
user_pref("gfx.direct2d.disabled", true);
Does that make any difference?

The current version of Lync for Android is
5.5.3.8935.
I don’t test it on M8, but on other Android 5.0 devices it works fine.

Firefox will not start, after reboot.

For a few months now Firefox will not start after I reboot my computer. In order to get it to start I click the exe then must go into task manager kill it, click the exe again, kill it again then, from there it will typically start, but sometimes it may take one or two more trys. When clicking the exe firefox will appear in the task manager under processes but will will start with ~7% CPU usage, then quickly drop to zero every time until it does actually open and start. I have ran a full system recovery and started anew after reinstalling mozilla several times failed to fix the problem. I run virus and spyware checks often and come up clean, and also run Chrome as a default browser.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. I'm having a very similar issue, paired with iTunes not being able to get online.
iTunes shows up in processes and then hangs at 17,000 K or so -- sometimes it will start up, but that (if it occurs) is a delay of literal hours.
Pretty meticulously went through all the 'cannot connect' trouble shooting, and have uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled every piece of apple software; issue is just as firm. Starting in safe mode or admin mode don't fix it; signing in as a different user doesn't fix it.

The pictures downloaded from my iphone and after disconnecting from the Apple help, my iphoto had disappeared from the very bottom of the screen and will not launch. Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite. All the other CS4 apps open. I upgraded Java. Genius Bar could not get it to launch.

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:
"There is a conflict with the _______ font file. This font file contains a font name that conflicts with a system font required by Mac OS X to display onscreen text. You should move this font file to the Trash."
The fonts it said were conflicting: Helvetica, HelveticaNeue.dfont, Lucida Grande, and Monaco. I figured Snow Leopard probably wanted to replace these fonts with newer versions, and so I clicked "Move to Trash" on all four.
Apparently 10.6 trashed these fonts but didn't replace them. This was causing Photoshop to crash on load.
So I restored my ~/Library/Fonts folder from a backup made just before upgrading and this time after a reboot I said "Allow Conflict" on all four dialog boxes and launched Photoshop... everything is back to normal!
Not sure what kind of "conflict" it's referring to, but apparently moving these font files to the trash as OS X prompted me to do broke a number of apps. Should I report this as a bug?

I have the same issue.
Allready uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, but the same problem occurs.
Icon keeps bouncing, and all that's visible is the first menu-item in the top menu bar, named iTunes. Nothing is clickable though.
The iPhone Configuration Utility doesn't seem to work either, it crashes on uploading an app to my iPhone. I guess it's using some of iTunes' libs or something.
Does anyone know how to get iTunes working again? I'm getting pretty desperate over here...
