Firefox will not open a webmail site after upgrade
Since I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 yesterday I cannot access my work email via Lotus Domino Web Access. Every time I try, the process begins as usual, asking for user name and password, then proceeds to the main page and begins to load but stops and gives this message: Domino Web Access Warning: Sorry, we were unable to process your request at this time. If you are unable to continue working in your mail file, please dismiss this warning and then select View, Reload from your browser's menu.
I can access the webmail site via my laptop, on which I have not upgraded Firefox, or via Internet Explorer on the desktop computer on which I'm having the problem.
What is opening instead of your Homepage?

Firefox will not open in Vista SP2 after installing software for a Brother MFC printer.
I have 7 computer network. All the machines are running Vista SP2. I recently purchased a Brother MFC 9325cw, and installed the printer/scanner drivers as well as a program called scansoft paperport on each of the machines individually.
I left out the some of the bulkier aspects of the driver package, namely the brother control center because it seems to eat up a lot ram at start up.
Since I have installed the printer driver on my computers, several of them will not open firefox.
I have tried re-installing firefox on one machine so far to no avail.
Next I will try to re-install the brother software. Has anyone else encountered this problem before? It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

ITunes will not open on Windows Vista after upgrading to new version
After installing the latest version, my iTunes will not open. I have uninstall and reinstall two times and still nothing, any suggestions or tips?
King Penguin set you on the right track. It's probably security software not recognizing the new version of itunes, and blocking it.

Firefox will not open any google sites or websites I created using google sites.
It says:
''Problem loading page: Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.''
I can open the sites using Safari but not Firefox.I have not always had this trouble. Google says that it is a problem with firefox. I have tried/and do accept cookies, cleaned history, etc. I can open the sites if I use Safari. Any suggestions?!A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

I've used Firefox since version 3 - really like it compared to others.
This morning, after booting up Firefox wouldn't open. It worked when the PC was shut down last night. The eggtimer comes on briefly, then nothing. Internet Explorer works fine, as does Mailwasher (for email) and MS Outlook, so it's not an internet problem.
I'm running XP Service Pack 3 (no, really, still), with Webroot Secure Anywhere internet security.
I've tried rebooting - no effect
I've tried removing, rebooting, and reinstalling - no effect
I've tried launching it from a link within a mail message - no effect
I've tried launching it from the Start-Run line with the ~p option as in your FAQ - no effect
I've tried re-installing Adobe Flash Player, Java, Shockwave, etc..
The closest I've got to something to go on is when trying to launch a console from Webroot, when I got "Browser launch error 1073741819" - but this could be a Webroot error code.
I'm not sure what else to do - almost all your FAQ's assume you can get into the program.
The only thing I can think is that webroot removed a threat this morning, but I can't find any saved scan log as to what it was - clutching at straws, maybe that had something to do with it?
Maybe this is linked, but i'm having to write this on a different PC because the Mozilla webpages don't display properly in IE (all the other sites I can find display normally) So the installed plug-ins won't reflect what I have on the PC in questionIt is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

When i click on the mozilla icon on the desktop the arrow will spin (VISTA) and will then disappear. Mozilla will not enable or even pop up or anything. I am still looking at the desktop and not mozilla. I lick on the icon many times and nothing ever enables, still stuck looking at the desktop and no Internet. Not to bring up your rival, but IE will open half way and then say not responding and will freeze and i must restart the computer every time. I have to use opera now because IE and Mozilla will not enable and Mozilla wont even pop up or enable or anything...just the desktop and no net. ONCE AGAIN MOZILLA WILL NOT ENABLE, SO I CANNOT GO TO TOOLS OR ANYTHING.
I have exactly the same issue. After FF upgraded on its own to version 5, it won't open from start menu, taskbar, desktop icon, or even by pressing firefox.exe in program files directory. It does so by pressing a link at msn messenger, inside Outlook etc.
Disabling all addons, didn't help. Moreover, I can't start FF in safe mode or start profile manager (Start > Run> firefox.exe -ProfileManager).

We received a notice of a Firefox update ans now Firefox will not open any other sites
Last week our two computers received notices of a Firefox update.
When we restarted the computers and opened Firefox it would go to thewebpage. When we tried to open any address nothing would happen.
My wife downloaded a new Mozilla Firefox and her computer works fine. I am concerned what will happen to all of my bookmarks. I have more than a month's work bookmarked and it would be a disaster to loose all of these sights. Can I reload Firefox without loosing all of my bookmarks. Right now I am using AOL and that sucks big time.A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Firefox will not open since the latest apple upgrade. how to fix?
When I click the icon the address bar appears but the screen does not change. I then click the icon and hold and open a new page still the screen does not change.
Hello jacm, please try to download and install a new fresh firefox version, follow the next steps:
1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html (full dmg package)
2. '''Trash''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
3. Install the version that you have downloaded.
Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Mac Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

Firefox will not open ANY site. Wont work AT ALL. Nothing seems to be working.
Firefox will not open ANY site. It worked last night, but not today. I uninstalled it many times, didn't worked. It displays the screen that says "unable to connect" yet chrome and explorer both work. I have disconnected and reconnected a few times, restarted my laptop, neither of those worked either. I have also tried turning "safe mode" off after re installing firefox, but again, that did not work. I need help :(.
Although, before this, firefox was not letting me use voice recording sites or any site that let me watch television online. It would load the commercials, but not play the episode. It wouldn't even let me upload pictures to photobucket. However, it worked using chrome or explorer.Looks like a bunch of people have this problem. Anyone got any ideas to fix this???

This morning, Firefox crashed. After this, when I click the Firefox icon, the hourglass appears and then nothing happens. Firefox does briefly appear in the task manager when I do this.
I tried rebooting. I tried reinstalling multiple times. (Firefox will run when I select "Launch Firefox" from the installer. Then the problem occurs again.) I tried safe mode. I have found that Firefox will work if I select Windows XP compatibility mode from the icon properties menu or if I run the program as an administrator. When I do this, Windows asks me if I want a program to be able to make changes to my computer.
I have noticed that a Windows Error Report is being generated each time Firefox will not open.A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Firefox will not open after unlocking Sempron
After upgrading to a new motherboard and unlocking Sempron processor, Firefox will not open. I have tried Firefox (safe mode) and rolled back to a previous version, but to no avail. It worked fine when I ran the Sempron 140 as a single core (even overclocked to 3.17ghz) on Biostar A785GE motherboard. I cannot find a crash ID to link to.

(irrc some Firefox versions specifically had problems after Windows restores)
Follow up checking for malware and then try re-installing Firefox. I would also suggest you make a copy of your [[profiles|profile]] including all folders and sub files and put it somewhere safe as it may assist in restoring your bookmarks and information.

Firefox will not open up after i restored to default settings
i recently restored firefox to default settings on my profile on windows xp computer now firefox will not load on my profile but does on my fathers profile.whats up???????????
Hi jonbeme,
Thank you for your question. I understand after you reset Firefox, that Firefox will not open up on one of the accounts on this computer.
This is what happens when Firefox is Reset [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems].
To test to see if the problem is the profile, use the Profile Manager to create a new profile. [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]] If the problem goes away, you can then move your bookmarks and other important settings into the new profile. -
Firefox will not open after attempting to upgrade to v5, sys restore didn't help
Was running 3.6 with no problems, but trying to upgrade today apparently broke it. The upgrade failed for some reason (the old .exe is still the only one in the Firefox folder & I can't find any files newer than April 2010 in there), but no matter how I try to run it, nothing happens - Firefox will not open, period. I tried reverting to last week with sys restore, scanning for malware with Malwarebytes, but still nothing happens. I'm using WinXP 5.1 media edition SP2 (yes, it's been around a few years but it works for me). I'm now using Chrome which seems to run just fine, tho I miss all my plugins.
Hi lwhealon
try from Start > Run > and type to check 1 of :
firefox -safe-mode
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode '''or'''
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
(to enable the Run box in win 7 see: [http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tims/archive/2006/09/18/windows-vista-secret-3-bringing-back-start-run.aspx enable Run box win 7] )
also check if [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls Firewall] or/and other security software blocking firefox start (like ad-blocker, web-accelerator etc).
[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application With Firefox completely closed] (probably because you can not start it), open the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory application folder] (by default, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox on Windows) rename firefox.exe to firefox1.exe, then double-click firefox1.exe. If Firefox runs without problems, it could indicate that your firewall is blocking Firefox.
good luck
