Firefox will not open certain pages,

It will not open my BT emails or flickr but when I use IE they work perfectly. I have cleared my history/cache/cookies and run a virus check, no malware.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was having the same problem and it was driving me INSANE because every solution I found on the internet said "just use Firefox!" (my default browser). It doesn't matter whether it's Firefox, Safari, Netscape, Opera, whatever, the computer was NOT accessing these sites. It seemed to coincide with a recent OS update, but maybe that's just my imagination.
Then my sister-in-law came over with her totally identical MacBook and complained of having the exact same problem accessing the same sites!
On top of this, I had no problem accessing these on my iMac in Chicago last week (running the same OS and software), so I concluded it had to be our router.
In my case, it was solved by simply rebooting the router. Have you tried this? It seems so simple, but now I can access every site that I was having trouble with. You might have to reconfigure something on your router, I don't know much about this. But my general conclusion is that something was wrong with the way the MacBook and router were communicating. Sorry I can't be more specific!

• Firefox will not open certain websites, unless I close and restart the browser. Anyone hear of this ?

Some webpages, for example newegg.com, will not open at all. But if I close ff and then restart ff - newegg.com will load up almost instantly. Yahoo's pages have problems as well - especially if there is a video with a news article. Many times - there simply wont even be a placeholder. I will read the article - and then realize there should be a video accompanying it - I'll have to view in IE - which I hate.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.
I have read through endless FAQ trying to find anyone else who has this question or concern but have found nothing. Can you please tell me how that service will get along with LastPass which does basically the same thing as Synch-it is probably spelled wrong as it looks wrong to me but if I click back to where this issue began, I will lose all of this question so please respond for the upcoming service synch.

• Safari and Firefox will not open certain web pages

I just bought a MacBook yesterday and since then have not been able to open certain websites using firefox or safari. I have been trying to access www.recolorado.com and www.people.com and keep getting the error that the page timed out because server is not responding. I called apple support yesterday and was told to reinstall the operating system which did not help. My husband has a PC that is connected to the same internet connection and he can open these sites with no problem. I have tried resetting safari, but still can't get to these sites. Does anyone have any suggestions??

• Firefox will not open web pages that are called from the mail program that comes with Vista, anyone out there have a solution?

I have installed Firefox ver 4 on a Toshiba laptop running Vista. My problem is when using the mail client that comes with Vista any url in an email message will not load in the browser, a new tab is created and has the url from the mail message but that is as far as I get. There is no revolving icon on the new tab and clicking on reload does nothing. So far this is happening with every website I have tried. There is no error message of any kind. The websites are working sites and can be opened if I navigate to them manually

Hi,
Please check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If the new profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder another location (profile folder)] separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window Options] and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config], and usually would also be empty of '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in '''Tools''' > '''Add-ons''', and their settings. I have tried every troubleshooting tip i could find. NOTHING. please help!!!!!!

Have you tried manually removing Firefox and all of its data. If not, follow the steps below:
# Located the Firefox installation root
# Delete it
# Type
%appdata%
in Run window

• Firefox do not open certain pages, it send me a form asking for my credit card, only on certain pages, like facebook, piratebay etc

When i write www.facebook.com, and press enter, it say that my account is blocket, and ask for my credit card number and all the data in credit car, name, address, etc. but I can login to facebook with IE and Chrome, when i tray to write the www.piratebay.se is the same problem, only in firefox.

It sounds as though you have some malware or prank software. It could be an add-on, or it might be external to Firefox.
Let's start here. Open the following page and disable ALL nonessential extensions. By nonessential, I mean you cannot use the internet without it.
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
Then restart Firefox and test again. Any improvement?
I assume you run full-time security software. These two free tools are highly regarded for supplemental scans for anything your regular software might have missed:

• Have mac 10.6.8 firefox will not open certain websites and if you do open them logins fail , also with safari and chrome, please help

recently updated mac to this version, and since then certain web pages timeout or server not found or they just hang, you get the address come up but the blue wheel spins and the page never loads. (this is the same in safari and chrome) but i can access some pages, and also thunderbird, msn messenger etc, i have cleared history, checked firewall, and done updates still no luck, also if i do get a page to appear ie: ebay / paypal etc they are in a strange format and then it fails at logins, is this a https/http problem or due to a upgrade or more sinister, please advise

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.
You can try to disable IPv6
• I have downloaded Adobe Flashdrive but it will not open certain pages

You downloaded it but, did you install it?

• Firefox will not open to home page as directed in options and settings. Opening in safe mode makes no difference, either. Any ideas?

Firefox will not open to home page as set in the settings. Even in safe mode, it still will not open to home page as directed. It seems to want to open to last set of tabs, even though that is not the way it was set in settings. It seems as though the settings do not have any impact on the way it behaves!!!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
