Firefox will not open secure websites anymore.

When I try to enter a secure website, this message pops up asking me for a password: "Please enter the master password for the FIPS 140 Cryptographic, Key and". None of my passwords work.
In the advanced encryption tab, I have both "Use SSl 3.0" and "Use TLS 1.0" checked.

i run windows 7 on a sony y series. before upgrading to 6.0 firefox worked seamlessly. now it will not open any websites at all. i have uninstalled and reinstalled it to no avail. thoughts? help? ...

  • Firefox will not open certain websites, unless I close and restart the browser. Anyone hear of this ?

Some webpages, for example newegg.com, will not open at all. But if I close ff and then restart ff - newegg.com will load up almost instantly. Yahoo's pages have problems as well - especially if there is a video with a news article. Many times - there simply wont even be a placeholder. I will read the article - and then realize there should be a video accompanying it - I'll have to view in IE - which I hate.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.
I have read through endless FAQ trying to find anyone else who has this question or concern but have found nothing. Can you please tell me how that service will get along with LastPass which does basically the same thing as Synch-it is probably spelled wrong as it looks wrong to me but if I click back to where this issue began, I will lose all of this question so please respond for the upcoming service synch.

  • Firefox will not open any website and I have done what your help section has instructed. after it updated quit working.

After Firefox updated I cannot open any website but explorer can. I have done everything your help site suggested. I like firefox and would like to keep using it. Can you help? I am using windows vista 64 bit operating system.

After upgrading, sometimes your firewall will not recognize the new Firefox version and, therefore, not allow it to access the internet. To remedy that situation,
#you must remove Firefox from your firewall's allowed applications list,
#then restart firefox, go to a website, the firewall will detect the new Firefox version and
#then give the necessary permissions for your firewall to allow Firefox access to the internet

  • Firefox Will Not Open Any Websites

Well, no one seems to be able to address this. My Explorer is working fine, but after updating my Firefox, it's as dead as a door nail.
You know, I first started using Firefox because Explorer just wasn't stable. And for awhile, Firefox was the answer to my problems. But then it began adding search bars and other crap, and the next thing I knew, Firefox began shutting down and then starting back up with an "Ooops, this is embarrassing!" message.
For computer users, stability (not features) is everything. I know Mozilla has to add on all these crappy search functions to put meat on the table, but Google is still the best. I just reinstalled Firefox with no improvement. I wish they had a "roll back" feature so we could go back to the previous version.
Now I'm trying to post this message and am getting an error message saying, "You must specify a post subject!" And guess what? There's no place that will accept a post subject!
    Very strange....

Your firewall is probably not recognizing the new version and is blocking its connection. Clear all references to Firefox from your firewall's program list, let the firewall re-detect the new Firefox version, and give it the proper permissions to connect. See:

'''''"it began adding search bars and other crap"'''''
The toolbars/search tools are probably piggy-backing on other things you are downloading and installing on your system. This most frequently happens when downloading "free" software; nothing is really "free", is it. Before downloading, carefully read everything and notice any mention of a toolbar or search engine. During the installation, look for an opt-out to check or un-check for the "extras". I have attached a couple of examples in the lower left corner of my post (from ClamWin Free Anti-virus and Foxit Reader).

I started getting messages 3 days ago that my Safari cannot establish a secure connection to Facebook, and it will not open that website. It worked fine for years before this occurred 3 days ago, what can I do to fix it?  OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • I upgraded from 3.6.13 to Beta 4.0 and now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing.

I uninstalled Beta 4 and re-installed 3.6.13 now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing, I have been using Firefox for a long time but cannot resolve this problem can anyone help and give me a solution please. As I use Firefox as my web browser it is very frustrating.
The fact it will not uninstall appears to be something completely new as nobody I know who uses Firefox has ever encountered this in the past.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Firefox will not open. Hangs at "connecting" stage. Non-responsive even to process shut-down via task manager.

Starting yesterday, Firefox will not open at all. It hangs at the "connecting stage." For hours. It will not shut down even using the task manager for applications or processes, and it locks up virtually every other application. I thought I managed to save an open Word document yesterday - it looked like a slow, but normal save during the Firefox hang, but the document was empty when I restarted my computer.
Even though my machine is not pentium 4 based, I tried starting using the Windows XP/M configuration, I downloaded and re-installed (over the top of) the existing version, I verified that no Mozilla processes were running before trying to start Mozilla, and tried creating a new profile. Absolutely no success. Every time (of the dozens) I have tried to start Firefox I have had to force a hard shut-down to get out of the application. I have now unpinned Firefox from my task bar because I keep forgetting and hitting it by reflex.
I am running version 11.0 (at least that is what I just downloaded - I am not positive what I was running yesterday). My system is Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i3, 2.4 gHz, 4 GB RAM, 64 bit OS.
Next option is to restore to a previous version. If that doesn't work, I will uninstall and start over from scratch.

  • Firefox will not open after attempting to upgrade to v5, sys restore didn't help

Was running 3.6 with no problems, but trying to upgrade today apparently broke it. The upgrade failed for some reason (the old .exe is still the only one in the Firefox folder & I can't find any files newer than April 2010 in there), but no matter how I try to run it, nothing happens - Firefox will not open, period. I tried reverting to last week with sys restore, scanning for malware with Malwarebytes, but still nothing happens. I'm using WinXP 5.1 media edition SP2 (yes, it's been around a few years but it works for me). I'm now using Chrome which seems to run just fine, tho I miss all my plugins.

    Hi lwhealon
try from Start > Run > and type to check 1 of :
    firefox -safe-mode
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode '''or'''
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
(to enable the Run box in win 7 see: [http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tims/archive/2006/09/18/windows-vista-secret-3-bringing-back-start-run.aspx enable Run box win 7] )
also check if [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls Firewall] or/and other security software blocking firefox start (like ad-blocker, web-accelerator etc).
[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application With Firefox completely closed] (probably because you can not start it), open the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory application folder] (by default, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox on Windows) rename firefox.exe to firefox1.exe, then double-click firefox1.exe. If Firefox runs without problems, it could indicate that your firewall is blocking Firefox.
    good luck

  • Firefox will not open unless I run it in compatibility mode (Windows XP SP 3), run it as an administrator, or launch it immediately after a reinstall (the reinstall thing only works once.) How do I fix this?

This morning, Firefox crashed. After this, when I click the Firefox icon, the hourglass appears and then nothing happens. Firefox does briefly appear in the task manager when I do this.
I tried rebooting. I tried reinstalling multiple times. (Firefox will run when I select "Launch Firefox" from the installer. Then the problem occurs again.) I tried safe mode. I have found that Firefox will work if I select Windows XP compatibility mode from the icon properties menu or if I run the program as an administrator. When I do this, Windows asks me if I want a program to be able to make changes to my computer.
I have noticed that a Windows Error Report is being generated each time Firefox will not open.

After updating yesterday, Firefox will not open. I repeatedly get the Mozilla Crash Reporter.
