Firefox 3.6.6 opens OK. Browsing OK, until I try to open a file that requires Java. The file will not open & Firefox immediately hangs. The only way out is a forced closure. Often getting a "This is embarrassing message" at the Firefox start-up. 2 choices are given - start new session or start up with previous tabs.

my firefox was working fine till about 5 days ago and when i tried to open it up it would not. No matter how many times i clicked it. It would never open. I then proceeded to uninstall the program and then i redownloded it. I never got the set up wizard to pop up to finish. I have now tried to redownlod it again and still no change. Some webpages, for example newegg.com, will not open at all. But if I close ff and then restart ff - newegg.com will load up almost instantly. Yahoo's pages have problems as well - especially if there is a video with a news article. Many times - there simply wont even be a placeholder. I will read the article - and then realize there should be a video accompanying it - I'll have to view in IE - which I hate.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. Firefox will not open full screen

Firefox will not maximize. I can mouse over it on the task bar and see it opened. But it will not display full screen or even part of the screen.

I have no navigation bar and firefox will not open in safe mode to reset to default config. Reinstalling doesn't work. Any help please.

I have no navigation bar ever since I closed it to gain more space on the screen. It won't re-open. Firefox will not open in safe mode, but opens immediately in normal mode with the new improper config, so I cannot reset to default config. I erased Firefox and re-installed and it still opens with the same faulty config. Why does Firefox not give me the safe mode dialog box, why can I not re-open the nav bar, and how can I do these two things, please? Firefox is currently unusable for me without a nav bar and without access to the default settings in safe mode. Firefox will not open ANY site. Wont work AT ALL. Nothing seems to be working.

Firefox will not open ANY site. It worked last night, but not today. I uninstalled it many times, didn't worked. It displays the screen that says "unable to connect" yet chrome and explorer both work. I have disconnected and reconnected a few times, restarted my laptop, neither of those worked either. I have also tried turning "safe mode" off after re installing firefox, but again, that did not work. I need help :(.
Although, before this, firefox was not letting me use voice recording sites or any site that let me watch television online. It would load the commercials, but not play the episode. It wouldn't even let me upload pictures to photobucket. However, it worked using chrome or explorer.

Firefox opened today at 5 pm. I closed it when finished, then tried to reopen it about 6 pm - it will not open. I have tried several times in the last hour and it will not open.
When I attempt to open Firefox, the 'busy' circle spins for several seconds, but then it stops, but Firefox NEVER opens and I get NO ERROR MESSAGE so I have no clue as to what the problem is.
I have a Dell PC, running Microsoft Windows Vista, 32 bit (I think). AS far as I know, there were no updates of any kind that preceded the Firefox problems, which started about one week to 10 days ago.
I have re-downloaded the program; I have uninstalled and then redownloaded the program to no avail. I can not figure out any kind of pattern, although it does seem to be more likely to open in the a.m. hours - but not always.
I really prefer Firefox as my default browser, but I will not continue to use it on such an intermittant basis. Please help me trouble shoot this issue. By the way, I have had no problems, when Firefox won't open, opeing IE or Chrome, so I know it is not a generalized internet access issue.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?
