    I am an ordinary user and use FireFox on a Windows XP pro sp2 OS.
    I can open and run FireFox by a variety of methods, and do not need to have any firefox: folders, files, or shortcuts on my Desktop unless I so wish.
    I suspect you have a rather none standard installation. The quickest solution may well be to uninstall FireFox ( which you have presumably not been able to use anyway) and reinstall it. I would suggest; at least initially; you just use the standard default installation you are offered.
    You will probably find this page of use, the [http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/3.6.13/releasenotes/ Release Notes], it includes links for downloading FireFox, and has advice and information about installing and downloading.
    I am sure you will have further questions when you try to install but click on the blue link above and look at that page and then post back again and I am sure someone will try to help you.
    I am assuming that you are already on the Internet with a browser such as Internet Explorer, and a broadband connection, or are you trying to install from a CD or something that has a FireFox install file on it. (if so what are you using, and what is the version of firefox)

  • Firefox will not open ANY site. Wont work AT ALL. Nothing seems to be working.

    Firefox will not open ANY site. It worked last night, but not today. I uninstalled it many times, didn't worked. It displays the screen that says "unable to connect" yet chrome and explorer both work. I have disconnected and reconnected a few times, restarted my laptop, neither of those worked either. I have also tried turning "safe mode" off after re installing firefox, but again, that did not work. I need help :(.
    Although, before this, firefox was not letting me use voice recording sites or any site that let me watch television online. It would load the commercials, but not play the episode. It wouldn't even let me upload pictures to photobucket. However, it worked using chrome or explorer.

    Looks like a bunch of people have this problem. Anyone got any ideas to fix this???

    How do I get firefox back on line when it won't open sites?I

    Hello,
    The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
    '''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
    *Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
    Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Firefox will not open a site because it thinks it is not trustworthy, but it has previously done so.

    When I try to open a previously trusted site to make an appointment on line with my doctor Firefox says that it is not to be trusted. I then used IE to go to the site and it allowed me access.
    Please can you advise me as to how I can overcome this problem.
    I have tried different things from your help pages but there are too many alternatives and it becomes confusing. This is the error message:
    www.tramita.gva.es uses an invalid security certificate.
    The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.
    (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

    You can retrieve the certificate to check who issued the certificate.
    You should always do that to see if that helps to identify the problem (missing intermediate certificate or something else).
    *Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
    Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
    *Click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate and check who is the issue.
    If you can't add an exception, but get a pop-up with the error message then you can check the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.xul.error_pages.enabled browser.xul.error_pages.enabled] on the about:config page and make sure that the value is set to the true (default).
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig

  • Firefox will not open - gives an XULRunner error

    I am getting the XULRunner error. I did a "clean install" of the latest version and am still getting the following error:
    >XULRunner
    >Error: Platform version '11.0' is not compatible with
    >minVersion >= 12.0
    >maxVersion <= 12.0
    What do I do now?

    Are you using Windows XP SP1 or SP2 ??
    * IF Yes, then upgrade your Windows to SP3
    * see this article -> [[Firefox no longer works with some versions of Windows XP]]
    Check and tell if its working.

  • Firefox will not open any sites but EI will

    Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

  • Firefox will not open, it goes right to crash reporter, and it will not open in safe mode(crash reporter again).

    I added adblock, that seemed to work OK. The same day I was tracking down slow download speeds with my ISP and they had me go to, I think...I can't remember to well, the tools menu and erase cookies, passwords, etc. I don't remember what else was erased,
    in order to "speed up my browser". Maybe I shouldn't have blindly done that. Anyway, when I tried to start Firefox it just goes straight to the crash reporter. It opens fine under Admin and other users.

    Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox doesn't usually solve anything, because most problems are contained in the profile.

    Based on the value of the ''keyword.URL'' preference, it looks like your system is either infected with malware, or was at some point in the past. You also seem to have a user JS file, which could prevent you from modifying certain preferences.

  • Firefox will not open after new update; Error: Platform version '1.9.2.13' is not compatible

    After accepting the new update I got this error message when trying to restart Firefox:
    XULRunner
    Error: Platform version ‘1.9.2.13’ is not compatible with
    minVersion >= 1.9.2.14
    maxVersion <= 1.9.2.14
    I have tried:
    - Opening in Safe Mode; same error
    - Uninstalling, deleting remaining info in C>ProgramFiles>MozillaFirefox folder, and reinstalling.
    - Updating Avast antivirus in case that was interfering.
    Now when I try to start Firefox I get this message;
    Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.
    But there is nothing happening in the Windows Task Manager. Please, somebody save me from Windows Internet Explorer!!

    I experienced this error updating from Firefox 3.6.13 to 3.6.14 and resolved it by doing a 'clean' install' as described. It occurred again in updating from 3.6.14 to 3.6.15 and this time a clean install failed to rectify it. (Anyway, I don't want to have to go through this every time.)
    Work-around: Shut down Firefox. Edit application.ini (typically "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\application.ini")
    [Gecko]
    MinVersion=1.9.2.15
    Change to 1.9.2.13
    Save. Start Firefox. Dirty? Yes. Works? Yes.
    (Gecko is the forerunner or XULrunner)

  • Firefox will not open some websites. It pops up a window - Connection has timed out. I have tried clearing history & cookies but that does not solve it

    I installed Internet Explorer and still had the problem.
    I do not have the problem with my Mac computer.
    IT my opinion that the problem started when I installed the latest
    version of firefox.

    Have you tried clearing the cache? See suggestions in this article --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/websites-dont-load-troubleshoot-and-fix-errors
    The latest version of Firefox is 13.0.1; it appears that you are using Firefox 12.

    The error message I get when choosing to open a PDF from a web page is; "There is an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."

    Tried that but it made no difference whatever

    Firefox will not open on my lap top

    No, nothing at all happens. Once clicked the 'circle' that suggest it is loading appears (if that makes sense) but no, nothing
    Many thanks.
    Can you check something for me please?
    Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
    Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?
