Hi JrTrainerd,
Do you have any other Adobe software installed on your machine. Please enable root account and try to launch Dreamweaver: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and let us know if still the same issue.

    Firefox will not quit.

What is the wording of the message you get?  Your use of the word "qualify" hints that you might be trying to activate an upgrade version and it is asking you to provide the name and serial number for the older product that qualifies you to use the upgrade.

  • Firefox will not quit when closed.

I have two problems with Firefox. It "hangs up" after a couple of minutes and will not quit and when I go to restart my computer, I now have to manually close some windows to get the computer to restart.
I was on Firefox 3 something and Firefox would go along nicely for about 10 minutes and then hang. The computer wasn't frozen - it just hung and you couldn't go to any other pages or connect to any other links.
I upgraded to Firefox 7. Same problem. I upgraded to the latest version of Flash player. Same problem. I uninstalled the latest version of Flash player, reinstalled the earlier version, and then gave up when nothing changed and reinstalled the latest version again. That's the first problem.
The other problem is that when the Foxfire window hangs and you close it down, Forefox is still running in the background and nothing, I mean nothing, not the Task Manager, but nothing will close it except rebooting the computer. If you restart, you get window that says nsAppShell:Event W... and you have to manually close that window to restart your computer and it takes for freaking ever.
I have done everything I can think of and everything that has been suggested, as far as I know. I have uninstalled Firefox 7 and reinstalled it again. I have deleted the parent.lock file (yes, I remembered to delete it when I reinstalled FF7 again). I have checked every extension and plugin I have. I don't have many, but I did check them all. Doesn't matter whether they're disabled or not, Firefox still hangs up, although sometimes I get the nsAppShell window again and sometimes I don't. If I disable one plugin, I will not get the nsAppShell, but then the next time with everything else the same and that plugin still disabled, I will get it again. Now I'm getting a window about fonts that needs to be manually closed before I can restart the computer.
I'm at the end of my rope. I love Firefox, but tomorrow for the first time in 6 years, I'm going to another browser because I need to be able to use my computer. You guys have no idea how absolutely frustrating this is. I'm having to use IE right now and I hate IE. But if I can't use Firefox, what else can I do?
By the way, my computer worked fine all day yesterday. Last night there were some Microsoft updates that went in automatically when I shut down. Maybe it's those? But there is one other thing I saw and that was that Grease Monkey was updated today. Now I disabled Grease Monkey and still got the nsAppShell window and Firefox still hung up. So I uninstalled and reinstalled that too, and it still didn't make a difference either way. But maybe it has something to do with it, although I wouldn't know how to fix it if disabling Grease Monkey won't fix the problem.
OK, post script: I closed Firefox down about an hour ago or more ago and couldn't get it to quit again. I decided to not restart the computer again, so I just left it go and went to IE. I just now, for a lark, tried to restart Firefox and it did restart, but it's taken an hour to do that. I went to another page and it hung up again. So I don't know, but I have to be able to be able to use my computer and right now that's impossible using FIrefox.

OK, I think I have this solved. After reading my post over, I decided to rethink the problem. First thing I did was download Chrome and I tried using that and IE again and surprise! I was having the same problem on those browsers as well. So now we know it wasn't Firefox. I then figured maybe a slow computer meant a virus, so I ran scans. I've had both Avast and IOBit for months now and I've never had a problem with either of them before. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a third scan. They all picked some stuff up, but nothing serious. Then I tried disabling all the antivirus stuff and that didn't solve anything. But then I decided to keep Malwarebytes and I uninstalled IOBit Security and whammo - problem solved.
I have no idea why out of the blue IOBit would be causing a problem like this so if someone knows, please let me in on the secret. Additionally, IE was working fairly well last night but not this morning. I also don't know why removing IOBit would take care of the nsAppShell issue, because supposedly, that's related to Firefox plug ins. And one more thing...when Comcast hooked my neighbor up to cable, they did it by putting a splitter on my line. They were messing about with the lines yesterday before I got on my computer last night trying to decide how to rerun them and today they did that, taking the splitter off my line and giving my neighbor his own line. That was finished about 30 minutes before I uninstalled IOBit. So....who knows?
But I ain't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I have my Firefox back and I am so sorry for bad mouthing you last night - I love you, Firefox!

  • Firefox will not download on mac OSX10.8.5. Stops at 15 seconds to go.

Firefox will not download onto my mac OSX 10.8.5. It stops at 15 seconds to go. HELP!!

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 25.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • Fire fox will not quit. Mac X version 5.6.8

Installed Version 5 2 weeks ago. Now it will not quit unless I shut the computer down.

You'll be more likely to get applicable and useful help if you ask in the iTunes for Mac forum rather than here in the iTunes for Windows forum.

  • Firefox will not quit asking for Kerberos identity

Trying to join Active Directory. Went to System Prefs/Accounts/Login Options and clicked the join button. Entered in the server name and clicked ok. Got to where it ask for ad admin user and password. Entered in wrong info and never got any further. Canceled my way back out.
So now when I open Firefox 3.6.6 it will give me a window "Firefox requires that you type your Kerberos indentity" and has one field as a blank dropdown. The continue button is grayed out.
This pops up over and over and will not stop. Web pages will load in between the cancels when the message is not on screen.
I've deleted the Firefox user folder, reinstalled the app with no change.
What is it seeing that makes it want to know this identity and what do I need to do so things are back to normal?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    John

    Hi
Quit all open applications launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) and issue these commands:
    sudo rm -R -v /Library/Preferences/DirectoryService
    sudo rm -R -v /Library/Preferences/edu.mit.kerberos
    sudo reboot h now
After the restart and on successful login, amend your Date & Time Preference Pane to reflect the local NTP Server. It's IP address will do. Now try again.

  • I recently updated to Mac OS 10.6.5 so Firefox will not quit (unless forced to quit), and I get the following error message. "The application Firefox.app can't be opened -600." Same problem with Safari, Google Earth, I-Tunes, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I have to actually force quit these applications for this to work. How do I fix this. I also upgraded to Firefox 3.6.13.

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,
    Nathan

  • Firefox will not load webpages and has trouble quiting

Recently, firefox has randomly stopped being able to load pages as if the wireless was not work (redirected to the cannot find server page). I would think this was a problem with the internet, but when I restart my wireless it is not fixed and my other browsers do not see the same issue. When I restart firefox it works again, but I usually have to do this several times a day. Another issue, firefox will not quit when I do command Q. The window will close but the application will not quit, and I have to go and force quit it. Background info, using Macbook, wireless internet, firefox is up to date. Thanks for your help.

  • Performed update to 3.6.6, and now it will not open on Mac OS 10.6.4

I performed the update to 3.6.6, and now Firefox will not open on Mac OS 10.6.4. I hope I haven't lost all my bookmarks, etc.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== after the update to 3.6.6

Using your link, I downloaded the new version. When I dragged the Firefox icon into the applications folder, it asked if I wanted the new version to replace the existing one, and I said yes. I was then told that it couldn't be done because I had insufficient privileges for some items. Is the reason for this that I didn't trash the old version BEFORE dragging the new one into the applications folder (under the assumption that "replace" meant that the old version was trashed as the new one was installed)? If not, it appears that I am back to the same problem I've had before.
Since I'll be replacing this computer soon, it seems too troublesome to bother with this update. I'd just like the update reminders to go away!

hi, i am not sure what's happening in your vi(s) and where your Quit LV function resides. If you place it correctly, it should be functional.
By the way, why do you need LV to quit in development environment?

  • Foxfire froze. Force quit. Could not reopen. Installed 8.0.1. Will not open on MAC 10.4.11 OSX

Foxfire froze when I tried to open email info. Had to force quit Foxfire. Could not reopen. Installed 8.0.1 Foxfire. This will not open on MAC 10.4.11

You '''can not use version 8.0.x on your 10.4.11 mac with ppc'''
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/8.0/system-requirements/
Firefox 4 versions and later do not run on a PowerPC Mac and require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
'''latest supported version for your os is 3.6.24''' you can download from here:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4+ versions '''if you like''' try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11(like yours) & 10.5.8

The last week, Firefox will not load up the NEW YORK TIMES. So, I have had to use Safari to do so. If this continues, I'm going to quit using your browser, and begin using Safari all the time!

There are several other similar posts in this forum with the answers. Your post appears third in my Google search today looking for a solution so I thought I'd add the solution here as well.
It is obviously a bug in either (or both) Firefox and the NYT.
The quickest solution is to simply go to the VIEW Menu in Firefox, then the ZOOM option and choose RESET.
I use Mac and this happens in Firefox 3.6.10. It does not happen in other browsers like Safari, Chrome and Camino, and it did not occur before last week.
It has also occurred in the iOS version of Safari on iPad. Not sure how to fix it there.

  • It will not run on Mac OSX 10.5.8, on a G% dual 2.0ghz, now my older version of Firefox is gone...

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 and It will not run on Mac OSX 10.5.8, on a Mac G5 dual 2.0ghz. Now my older version of Firefox is gone...Why won't it work, the download page says it is for OSX and does not say it will not work on any particular OSX. Can your clarify. And can I get the old Firefox 3 back or should I continue using Safari....?

Yes I've read every one of them, none of them provide solutions whatsoever, I have spent about ten hours on this site in the past two days to no avail, none of the "resolved" threads provided any sort of solution for me, I have tried everything suggested on this website so far, multiple times, to no avail.

You don't. Since you have an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.
