Firefox will not retain all saved settings on BBC Website

The BBC Home page will not retain all settings.
The local area page (weather and news) is fine, but each time I increment the number of news stories, both national and local to the maximum, it returns to the default when I restart Firefox. It worked fine on previous versions of FF.
I have deleted the cookie and restarted FF, and this worked, but it has now returned to the default. FF=4.0.1

Its not just the web site that is recorded, but the page also.

  • Firefox will not load all pics. correctly on certain websites

Example: I go to Snapfish to create a project, I click on an image and it will not load. Simply is not there.
I go to the Nat. Geo. website to shop. Click on t-shirts, it goes to the correct page but there are no images.
Never had this problem with Firefox before.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • Firefox will not save my Connections settings, so opens on manual proxy every time, rather than No Proxy?

I'm using Firefox 4.01 and it will not save my connections settings when I set them to "No Proxy" keeps defaulting to manual therefore it wont load any pages until I change it to "No Proxy" which I have to do every time I open firefox.

  • Firefox will not import all of the favorites from Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 64-bit OS!

There is another post about this problem in the forum, but the answer does not work. This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem when installing/using Firefox on my desktop PC. I have a new (3/25/14) Dell XPS 8700 desktop tower with Windows 8.1 64-bit (and now Update 1) installed, along with Internet Explorer 11. I previously had a 2005 Dell Dimension 5100 desktop tower running XP Pro SP3 32-bit, which never had any issues running Firefox, but has since died. I used to run Firefox as my default browser, but not any longer. Now, during the install process, Firefox asks if you want to import from Internet Explorer, as it has always done before. I chose yes, and it reported that it pulled everything in from IE. However, it only imported my favorites folders whose names start with a numeral, and then A, B, and onward down the alphabet, but it doesn't import anything more after getting to the folders whose names start with E. So, all of my remaining Favorites folders whose names start with F, G, and forward down the alphabet from there are all absent from Firefox's Bookmarks. I also tried importing the favorites after installing Firefox, which I don't prefer since Firefox installs a folder called Internet Explorer to go to first to get to your favorites. However, still, Firefox only brought in my favorites folders from A to E, and stopped there again. I do not see any way to export my favorites from Internet Explorer (there is no import/export option under favorites, nor anywhere else in IE 11). Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox resulted in the same problem, even after making sure to delete my settings, etc., in the process. Please update Firefox's installation executable so it's able to import ALL of Internet Explorer 11's favorites folders and their contents, complete, as it has always done before. Please contact me when the corrected executable to install Firefox properly is ready for download. Thank you.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
*Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):<br>File > Import and Export
*Import the HTML file in Firefox:<br>Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • Firefox will not open a new window for a website when it is supposed to and then will not close properly. I have un-installed and re-installed and problem persists, why? How is it solved?

When I go on to some websites and click on certain things it wants to open a new window to display the information etc.
I.E. On an agency job search site I click to do a detailed job search which should open in a new window, but this will not happen now on my Firefox.
Firefox was working perfectly ok on Saturday 11th September but for some unknown reason has acted up since Sunday.
There have been no Windows updates which could effect this and the laptop is otherwise working perfectly ok.
Nothing has changed from Saturday Night to Sunday Night that I can see.
I have even tried to do a system restore to solve the problem but with no success.

I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.
To the best of my knowledge, this problem started with the new update to Ver. 3.6.9. I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005

  • Firefox does not retain my proxy settings.

Everytime I launch the browser I have to reset the proxy settings in order for it to work. I don't use a proxy but Firefox seems to think I do and assumes that i use some random proxy that it populates. I don't have this issues with other browsers so its not my connection settings.

I have the same problem and have tried all those things. I have also tried deleting the Firefox profile and restarting. I have also tried reinstalling and not adding any addons. I have even removed Firefox registry keys and any Firefox files left by the uninstall before attempting to install it again. No matter what I do, Firefox begins to stop retaining any history. This all started when I upgraded to 4.0. It is frustrating because I have seen all over the net that others are having this problem. I backed up to the 3.6 version and that fixed the problem. After a while, I decided to go ahead and go back to 4.0 to see if the issue would stop. But it does it again!

  • Firefox will not retain history of Gen Circles tabs that I visit

I just uploaded Firefox 31.0 and rebooted. That night when I did some family tree research, using Gen Circles, I noted
that the sites that I visited were not saved in the History.
In the past when I clicked on a site, it's title would go to red and would remain that color to indicate that I had been there.
This would stay highlighted for a week or so, and maybe even longer.
But, it does not do that now, making it hard for me to keep track of what sites I have visited.
Can anyone give me some help or advice.
I am using an Imac desk top computer, which has OS 10.6.

  • My 363 F 42.15 motherboard will not retain Boot Order settings.

I have checked the cmos battery and it works. Is there another battery somewhere in this system? It is installed in a CQ61-415SA with AMD M120 processor. 2 years is not a great age for a laptop surely, is it? I have other cheaper laptops that have lasted much longer with worse treatment when my daughters were younger. I am certain that Compaq/HP willl not be my preferred choice in future.
I also appear to have problems with communication with the hard drive although this is in good working order.
Inability to alter any BIOS settings in the Insyde H20 F.15 is also very frustrating. Any comments or help would be gratefully accepted

What intel USB driver version do you use? There's one more thing to try, try plug the kb/ms to USB 3.0 ports except the ones under the LAN port, and check if it happens again.
I'm glad you recommended checking Intel drivers. I typed appwiz.cpl to go to the installed programs list in windows. Found "intel USB 3.0 extensible host controller". I tried uninstalling this. It made my mouse and keyboard not work for about 1 minutes. Windows downloaded some drivers for my devices, and asked to reboot. I rebooted. Mouse/keyboard responded right away! Just incase it was a fluke I rebooted another 2 times, and each time the mouse and keyboard are immediately responsive. I'm SO glad that my PC is back to it's original working order. Thank you to you all for taking time out of your day to help me. I really appreciate it!

  • Firefox will not load any flash video, on any website.

Hello, just recently firefox decided to stop loading flash video.
    Eg. Youtube, metacafe, etc.
I tired uninstalling flash and reinstalling it, uninstalling firefox and reinstalling it, ive also tried scanning for viruses, and nothing has worked. Sometimes it will load the advertisement for youtube videos but thats it, after that it just stays black and the controls for the player still work as normal, but there is no video or audio.
I've tried to install a different browser to see if that would make a difference and it did, i can view flash videos on chrome but the moment i go back to firefox, videos dont work anymore.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Firefox will not load .wmf (windows metafile) images on websites - is this correct/can it be overcome?

I have written a website using .wmf image files. These will load in Internet Explorer 6 but having just downloaded Firefox 3.6 have found these are ignored, although .jpg files are OK. Does it mean I have to do a rewrite to make Firefox work?

You will need to use another format like SVG

When I try to open reports in Fidelity, UBS, etc, the file downloads, but removes the extension so it won't open and I get the message "Unknown file type". • Firefox will not open now - I just updated my privacy settings, and cleared cookies - what happened?

I changed the privacy settings on Firefox preferences, including clearing cookies, history and cache, and now Firefox will not open at all. It said it had to restart after one of the privacy changes, but it didn't and now won't open by the dock icon or thru applications. What happened, and how can I correct the issue to start using Firefox again? Thanks.

  • Firefox will not start or open at all

I have been using Firefox on a PC with Windows Vista 64-bit OS, but suddenly Firefox will not even open up on this PC. I have uninstalled and re-installed FF (different versions of it such as 24, 27, 30 & 32), but nothing seems to work. Restarting my PC does not help either. I have read several of the articles on Mozilla Support (including "Firefox Won't Start, Find Solution") and some of them say it could be due to a problem with my Profile or Add-ons or Plug-ins. If I am supposed to fix one of those issues, the problem is that I cannot even open Firefox (not even in Safe Mode) to get into those selections.
I like Firefox more than IE or Chrome, and would appreciate anyone's help to fix this problem.

FredMcD, thanks again for taking the time to help. I changed the "Connection Settings" to "No proxy," and then upgraded to FF 32.0, but it did not open up. So I am back to 24.0. If you have other ideas, I am willing to try it out so that I can upgrade to the latest FF version.
On a different Firefox topic, I imported my "Favorites" list from IE to FF, and I do see them when I go through the "Bookmarks" tab on the very top of the screen. Then under "View" tab, I have selected "Bookmarks Toolbar" which places a direct link called "From Internet Explorer" a couple of lines below the main toolbar (my idea is to save a few clicks if I want to go to my IE Favorites. However, when I click on that direct link, I only see 3 entries ("Customize links"; "Suggested sites" and "Web Slice gallery," but I do not see the many entries that should be there from my IE Favorites list. The strange thing is that until a few days ago I used to see all my IE Favorites when I clicked on this direct link! What should I do?

  • Firefox will not open to home page as directed in options and settings. Opening in safe mode makes no difference, either. Any ideas?

Firefox will not open to home page as set in the settings. Even in safe mode, it still will not open to home page as directed. It seems to want to open to last set of tabs, even though that is not the way it was set in settings. It seems as though the settings do not have any impact on the way it behaves!!!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

  • Settings: firefox will not accept easy hideIP. cannot get firefox proxy settings changed.

easyhideIP will not be accepted by firefox and the prosxy settings of firefox will not change. They are set to auto accept but that does not work, the reload feature does not work. I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled and the problem persists. I have no problem with IE 8.

If you aren't able to connect in Firefox, but can connect with other programs, the most common cause is a firewall. See [[Firewalls]] for instructions on configuring firewalls. (Make sure you configure all firewalls that are installed)
Another possibility is that you are in offline mode. Make sure "Work offline" in the File menu is ''unchecked''.
For other causes, see [[Error loading web sites]]
