Firefox will not save bookmarks

I have a new version of firefox and it will not let me allow me to save bookmarks. Nothing happens when I make this attempt. I have gone to support on their site but many are simply windows users. I do not know what to do, any suggestions?

Hi there,
I use Firefox on both a PC and an Apple and have not run into problems bookmarking pages. I have version 1.5.02 on the Apple.
You have a couple of options when bookmarking: save to a folder in your bookmarks section or bookmarking the page to the bookmarks toolbar. You should go to the Bookmarks menu > open Manage Bookmarks and see if your bookmarks are being saved into a folder...
Post back with particulars of what happens... Rick

  • Firefox will not save my passwords

Firefox will not save my usernames and passwords. When I enter a password on a site FF will ask me if it wants to remember it. I always click "Remember Password". When I go to options>security>saved passwords it's always a blank field and I have no sites listed under exceptions.

I'm having a problem where Windows Live login won't remember both of my ID's. In FF 3.6, I used to be able to click in the empty username field and select which ID I wanted to use but since upgrading to FF 4.0, I can no longer do this.
I don't want it to remember passwords, just usernames....help pls.

  • Mini will not save bookmarks

    Just purchase a new mini.
    It will not save bookmarks.
    What can I do?

If the top of your safari page is dark you are in private mode and you can't save bookmarks. To get out of private tap the + sign in the upper right corner of the Safari page then tap private in the lower left corner.

  • Firefox will not save Site Certificate Exceptions even when checked to do so.

I have a publicly free Wifi Access point near by that I use daily. When logging on to this site I get a Warning about the Sites Certificate and do I want to proceed, I choose YES and then are asked if I want to make this exception permanent and I put a check mark in the box for yes and press accept. This is suppose to permanently accept this websites certificate in the future. It does not.. It will not save the exception from one session to the next.
IN SHORT: Firefox failure to permanently store website Certificate exceptions.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

  • Safari will not save bookmarks

Hi. Ever since I set up a standard account to use, Safari refuses to save bookmarks. I was able to transfer the bookmarks.plist file from the original admin acct. to standard account. Yet, when I import the bookmarks.plist file into Safari, I get an error message (which provides no advice on how to troubleshoot) telling me that Safari failed to save bookmarks.
I had this problem before with iTunes after setting up a new standard acct. The advice given was to delete the account--which didn't fix that given problem.
    Thanks for any advice.

What exactly happens when you try to save a bookmark?
One thing I always try when an app misbehaves is to quit the app like I describe next then reset the iPad. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Firefox will not 'save as pdf' for whole page, when the page is a large one. How can this be fixed?

My Mac Desktop PPC (2002) is running 10.4.11.
Firefox has no more updates beyond 3.6.24, which is what I'm running here.
I want to save a NY Daily News live update page (large and with photos..) ..which is not 'infinitely large': this one is page 3..
But the resulting pdf is two pages, with a NY Daily New beginning.. and an 'end' on page 2. Nothing in between.
    can you help
'Troubleshooting information' is non-applicable here, since Firefox does not even acknowledge this as a category..!

  • Firefox will not save my tabs or prompt asking if I want to save tabs. When it reopens it doesn't even bring up my home pages which have been properly saved. I have tried all the suggested fixes - the problem persists even in safe mode.

Firefox does not prompt to save my tabs nor does it bring them back when it reopens. It does not even bring up my home page. I have tried the suggested fixes in the help section. This still happens in safe mode so I tried disabling plugins etc. - no change.

this should solve some of your problem if it is because you got the '''newer''' version!!

  • Firefox will not save my user name and password for one of my sites. How can I fix this problem. It is getting annoying having to reenter every time I check this site. Is there a solution.

I had my user name and password saved for my library site. My grandson hit something and now the saved user name and password are gone. It asks me every time to enter it and it is getting annoying. How do I fix this. I want Firefox to remember these codes.

You can create a bookmark with the JavaScript code via a right-click on the "Remember Password" link on the squarefree.com website and choose "Bookmark This Link" and select the "Bookmarks Toolbar" as the destination folder for easy access.
    * https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password
You need to use the "Remember Password" bookmarklet before or after filling the name and password field on the website with the <u>login form</u>, but before submitting the login form by clicking a button on the web page.
If the site is using autocomplete="off" then you see a number not equal to 0 (i.e. attributes were removed) in the pop-up alert from the bookmarklet and Firefox should offer to remember the name and password via a drop down dialog of the key icon that will appear on the location bar (Firefox 4+) or via an info bar at the top (Firefox 3).

  • My bookmarks toolbar is not working, will not save bookmarks and all of my previous bookmarks are lost. The articles are not helping. Please help.

I cannot find my bookmarks. I've tried troubleshooting with the information from several articles with no luck. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. I can only add 2 bookmarks, then it won't let me add anymore. All of my bookmarks are gone, I don't mind re-adding them but now I can't even do that. Please help.

Even though the Firefox application was not shown as running in the Applications Tab of Task Manager, it WAS shown as running in the Processes Tab. I ended the process, and the problem was solved.

  • My firefox will not save in pdf format? why? any help would be greatly appreciated

i receive a file in pdf format, when i say file save as it wants to save the web address, and not in pdf format.
    how do i do it?

Are you downloading or opening the .pdf file? If Firefox is using a plugin to display it, I would not really expect it to do that. Can you not download the .pdf file from the URL, if Firefox used a plugin?

  • New Firefox, will not save home page and opens up displaying all add-ons every time!

Okay - for YEARS now I've used ONLY Firefox - it had the best extensions and add-ons of any other browser out there. Add to it, it was safe and very quick. So it was my default browser.
This week I logged into my DeviantArt site and odd advertisements started showing up in the lower left and right corners of the browser, unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Add to it, they were very inappropriate! So I assumed that something was wrong, and went through three, as in 3, programs to find out if I had any 'bugs' causing the problems. And of course, there was some kind of nasty bug in Firefox causing all kinds of issues.
So, following the suggestions of the fixer, plus the suggestions here, I deinstalled Firefox (21) then reinstalled the newer version, 23. At first, I thought, "Wow, that is really fast!". When I opened Firefox it didn't go to my home page, it went to the Firefox startup page, along with opening tabs for EVERY add-on and extension!
So, opened Tools, Options and reset the home page to my home page, https://www.google.com
Simple, and something I've done before. I'm a computer geek and have worked on my own additions. So, set up my home page, was working in Firefox, went to youtube to download a video and it wouldn't! So went to DLhelper, read their comments, changed one of the strings, and voila! No problems!
So I thought it was fixed and I was happy. That was last night. This morning I boot the puter and the first thing I do is open Firefox . And what happens? Oh, yes, that's right, NOTHING THAT I WOULD HAVE WANTED! It's back to the Firefox startup page, and it opens tabs for EVERY SINGLE ADD-ON!
Holy carp, getting tired now. So I research from 8 this morning until about an hour ago, so just over 5 hours I keep trying to fix it based on Firefox instructions. Go into about:config, work on the strings, change the home page info, etc. Save it. Go back to Tools, Options and there's my home page. Close Firefox and open it, and what the heck? Again, back to where it was, opening as if I just uploaded this browser. Now I've spent literally HOURS trying to fix this and I'm so frustrated that I'm just about ready to de-install it! My one complaint is that I searched all over to try and find this same problem and cannot find it. Is that true, I'm the only one with this bizarre problem???

EDIT - Now that it's fixed, I shall remove my negative comments where I can. Oddly, the final reset fixed it...

  • Firefox will not save my "Always do this with this file type" preference.

Alright, bear with me because I am extremely new to Firefox. Anyway, when I download a .torrent file for uTorrent, it asks me the obligatory "What to do with this file type" question. Great. But when I checked to be sure it was opening uTorrent (Yes.) and ticked the "Always do this for this file type" box. Then, I clicked "OK". Awesome.
Then, after that, when I try to download a .torrent file it asks the same question again. Click click. and again. click click. and again......you get the picture. Why wont it remember this preference?

Sites override the "Always do this" preference by serving files with a special HTTP header known as '''Content-disposition: Attachment'''
You can look for this happening by installing the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3829 Live HTTP Headers] extension then accessing it from the '''Tools''' menu just before clicking a .torrent link to monitor the headers sent.

  • Firefox will not sync bookmarks and tabs? It's set up I just can't sync and I need to leave I'd like my laptop sync'd.

I set up sync yesterday. It worked. But I've added stuff today and cannot get it to sync again.

Sorry for the poor English. I don't know what happened there, but I can assure you I'm literate.
