Firefox will not set up Abode Flash. It is all ready on my computer from IE.

I am trying to change from IE to Firefox. Firefox does not have Abode Flash and will not take it when I download Abode Flash from Abode site. The current version of Abode Flash is on my computer from IE
Ken

IE uses a different version of Adobe Flash which includes an ActiveX control. ActiveX however is not supported on Firefox.
Use these direct download links to download the uninstaller and the installer and download both to the desktop<br><br>
* [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]<br><br>
* [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe]<br><br>
* See the screenshot which illustrates what these two look like because you won't see the Adobe site when you click the links.<br><br>
The installation procedure is as follows:<br><br>
#Close Firefox. ''It's important that Firefox isn't running during the uninstall or installation procedure''.<br><br>
#Double click '''uninstaller_flash_player.exe''' to remove Flash from your system (''even if you think it's not installed''). It will also remove it from IE.<br><br>
#Reboot (do not skip this step).<br><br>
#Double click '''install_flash_player.exe''' to install Flash in Firefox.<br><br>
#Start Firefox and go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ You should see the Flash animation.<br><br>
#Close Firefox and start IE. Go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/<br><br>
#Click '''Install''' when you see the prompt.
You should now have Flash in both IE and Firefox.

    * Firefox will not set as my default browser, regardless of setting the option?

OK, I think I have this solved. After reading my post over, I decided to rethink the problem. First thing I did was download Chrome and I tried using that and IE again and surprise! I was having the same problem on those browsers as well. So now we know it wasn't Firefox. I then figured maybe a slow computer meant a virus, so I ran scans. I've had both Avast and IOBit for months now and I've never had a problem with either of them before. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a third scan. They all picked some stuff up, but nothing serious. Then I tried disabling all the antivirus stuff and that didn't solve anything. But then I decided to keep Malwarebytes and I uninstalled IOBit Security and whammo - problem solved.
I have no idea why out of the blue IOBit would be causing a problem like this so if someone knows, please let me in on the secret. Additionally, IE was working fairly well last night but not this morning. I also don't know why removing IOBit would take care of the nsAppShell issue, because supposedly, that's related to Firefox plug ins. And one more thing...when Comcast hooked my neighbor up to cable, they did it by putting a splitter on my line. They were messing about with the lines yesterday before I got on my computer last night trying to decide how to rerun them and today they did that, taking the splitter off my line and giving my neighbor his own line. That was finished about 30 minutes before I uninstalled IOBit. So....who knows?
But I ain't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I have my Firefox back and I am so sorry for bad mouthing you last night - I love you, Firefox!

  • Firefox will not complete the installation even after several attempts of rebooting the computer.

I downloaded the Firefox 9.0.1 upgrade but it will not complete the installation on my computer. Everytime I try to remove the program, it tells me to reboot the computer to finish the installation. After several reboots, the same error keeps coming up.

Try to run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click firefox.exe: Run as Administrator).
If that doesn't solve the problem then remove the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I then went to the following install page which works:

  • Firefox will not launch. Nothing shows up at all after download.

I have tried repeatedly to download and use Firefox, but I can never get it to work. I download everything, but when it gets to the end where FF should launch, nothing happens. I get no errors, no messages, absolutely nothing. I have tried downloading with different versions, but I have never been able to download it successfully.

  • After updating iTunes to latest version, Firefox will not load.

I installed the new version of iTunes that supports ios6 this morning. Right after that Firefox will not start. It flashes some kind of message in the lower right corner that I cannot read. Task Manager says it is running, but not on my screen.

Look in Processes in the Task Manager. If Firefox is running, you see firefox.exe in there. You can remove it from there.

  • Firefox will not open---previously did

After installing adobe flash player update, firefox will not open.

Hopefully this support article is what you need:

Also, if Flash is the cause of this problem, you'll probably want with talk to Adobe about it.

  • Firefox will not load no matter what I try (safe mode whatever). It only loads if I run it inside Comodo sandbox! How do I get it to run the normal way?

Firefox will not load the normal way (clicking on a link or running it from Run window or even running it in safe mode). It only runs if I dig down to the installed directory, right-click firefox.exe and select "Run inside Comodo Sandbox". I have Comodo Internet Security Suite installed but this does not happen with other programs. Do send in your suggestions. Re-install did not help.

  • Firefox will not allow Flash player to work. How do I enable Flash to work in Firefox? Thank you.

    Question
Firefox will not allow Flash player to work. Every site that uses Flash player gives me a message saying that I need to update to the latest version of Flash player, but I have done so, and I keep getting the same message. How do I enable Flash to work in Firefox? Thank you.

You can hold down the Shift key and double click the Firefox desktop icon to start Firefox in [[Safe mode]].

  • The address bar in firefox will not let me use down arrow in menu boxes on any website or in the url bar

The address bar in firefox will not let me use down arrow in menu boxes or in the url bar. Usually if I click on the down arrow in the url bar, my most common websites pop up... now it won't show me them...
It is also happening in any website I use via Fire fox. I don't have this problem with windows or Internet Explorer. Even the down arrow box below this.. asking "this happened" won't let me see the choices.. it just flashes by.

Make sure that the Location Bar is not set to "Nothing": Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History,Bookmarks,History and Bookmarks

  • Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at http:// (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.

  • Firefox will not start

I have been using Forefox on Windows 7 with no problem. Last week we had a spell of hot weather, and in the middle of searching for something it suddenly crashed and closed. I rebooted and now Firefox will not open. The cursor flashes but the browser is just not there. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times but no go. IE and email work fine but I don't like IE. I want Firefox back. Help!

  • Firefox will not run after System restore or running in compatibility mode for windows 98. How do I fix this? I already tried all other solutions on this site.

I was running Firefox fine just yesterday. I screwed up the registry a litle while removing an installed program completely, so I restored the system and everything appeared to work fine. I then decided to play an old video game, Return to Krondor, which was made back in 1998, so I ran the program with no other programs running in compatibility for windows 98. After finishing the game, I closed it and put the computer in hibernation mode. I come back today and firefox will not run at all. It is not running in the background and there are no programs running. There are no services running which could interfere with it. I think somehow Firefox may think I'm in compatibility mode still, but I have no idea.
I'm running windows Vista 32 - bit with an AMD 2.4ghz processor, 4gb ram on an Emachine computer. I have already tried system restore, restart, processes etc. Nothing works. I can still run Internet explorer and all other programs.

The person that I was assisting, has Windows 7 which has 64 bit system. Her browser was IE 10.
Was IE11 ever offered (or installed) via Windows Update?
Is her computer currently fully-patched at Windows Update?
Is Adobe Shockwave Player v12.1 (or higher) installed on her computer?
Is Adobe Flash Player v15.0.0.189 (or higher) installed on her computer?

  • Firefox will not let me get on any websites (safe AND not safe), claiming that it "may pose a security threat to your system"; when I try to choose the "proceed unprotected" option, it won't let me.

My computer's anti-virus software recently expired. A few days later, I went to download a new anti-virus software . . . when I opened up Firefox, I received a warning that claimed Firefox was infected with "Trojan-BNK.Win32.Keylogger.gen", and gave me two options: "Activate XP Security 2011 (recommended)" (this was a $60 charge and required credit card info) or "Continue unprotected (Dangerous)"
Since I needed to install new anti-virus, I figured I would continue unprotected, download my new software quickly, and remove the virus. But when Firefox opened, it gave me a message saying: "Firefox alert. Visiting this site may pose a security threat to your system!". Gave me three options:
    1. "Get a copy of 'XP Security 2011' to safeguard your PC while surfing the web (RECOMMENDED)"
    2. "Run a spyware, virus and malware scan" (I already did this)
    3. "Continue surfing without any security measures (DANGEROUS)"
I tried clicking on different links, but the same warning kept showing up, even on verified and safe sites. I tried to choose the third option so that I could download my anti-virus software quickly, but nothing happened when I clicked on it - the page reloads and the warning shows up again.
My computer is still without anti-virus software because Firefox will not let me surf the internet. Please help!

It sounds as though your PC is infected with fake antivirus software. The detailed cleanup instructions vary depending on which fake AV you have. However, as a first step, try this:
Download the following on a different PC, copy them to a USB flash drive or CD, and then run them on the infected PC:
    Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
    SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/
Hopefully these will get you back online safely. If not, search for clean-up instructions for the specific malware.
