Firefox will not start and Firefox.exe process will not end!

Good evening,
I am typing this on Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome seems to refuse to install. I have been experiencing considerable trouble with launching FF. Whenever I double-click the icon, FF does not launch. There are no error mesages, the cursor just turns to an hourglass and then back to the pointer. When I open the task manager, there is always one Firefox.exe process open that will not close no matter how many times I press the "End Process" button. This is maddening. Can I do anything to get FF up and running again? I have restarted my computer countless times. I ran a scan with Norton Antivirus and whatever it detected obviously wasn't what is causing this issue. Please try and assist me, this is outrageous.
Thank you,
~AdmiralGFM

    Just installed Firefox 3.6. Firefox will not start and Firefox safemode does not start either. Using Task manager I do not see if started either. If I create a new profile and start from that window, Firefox starts up. I see no error windows/messages. I do have it listed in my Firewall as an exception program with Permit All. • SOS! The database does not start and the license key can not be installed.

    Hi,
    I have installed the SAP Netweaver 200s testdrive on linux x86-64. I have got the hardware key and requested a license key. I have received an E-mail with the license key (N4S.txt) attached.
    Unfortunately, I am not able to active the installation with this license.
    I always get the error: "open of N4S.txt failed: No such file or directory"
    I have renamed the license as N4S.rpm but it still not working.
    Furthermore, I could not start the database in the previous step. I have got the error: Database failed to start.
    Does anyone already have the same errors? Your help will be so greatful.
    Thank you.

  • Start Run thunderbird.exe-p does not work in windows 7. how find/runProfiles manager?

    I am trying to manually transfer my address book etc. from TB on my desktop [windows XP ] to my Laptop running widows 7. Have followed all instructions, using a memory stick to make the transfer manually. System reports it is working and takes several minutes. After completion address book is blank. Thought problem might be the name of the backup file, so changed name to same as default profile name on windows 7. Same nil result. Instructions say to create new profile using Profile manager; access by windows 7 Start>Run>Thunderbird.exe-p. Windows 7 reports cannot find the file. Also tried windows 7 Start>Run>Thunderbird.exe-P, same no find file. Can anyone explain how to locate/open/run Profile Manager, other than as tried ? When I type "profile manager" into Help search, all I get is the same general information and not about Profile Manager itself. Also why does Pasteing backup profile onto the new TB seem to work, but in fact does nothing ?
    Regards, Tom

    '''How to activate the 'Profile Manager' and create a shortcut icon on desktop to make future access easier:'''
    * https://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/where_is_the_profile_manager_hidden_in_windows_8
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
    Note: 'Start>Run>Thunderbird.exe-p' is not correct, so you are not following the instructions. Please read info at the above links above to enter the correct path. the info for Win7 and win8 are the same.
    However, before going down that route ; I preume you have already created a Profile in Win7 machine; please read the following information.
    re: 'trying to manually transfer my address book etc. from TB on my desktop [windows XP ] to my Laptop running widows 7.'
    So are you trying to just migrate the address book or the entire Profile?
    '''If just migrating various Address Books.'''
    The 'Personal Address Book' and the 'Collected Addresses' are default Thunderbird files. These files can be copy pasted from one profile to another.
    To see Profile folders:
    * make hidden files visible: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
    * In XP Thunderbird, 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
    * click on 'Show folder'
    * close Thunderbird now.
    * scroll down and look for 'abook.mab' and 'history.mab'
    * copy those files and move to same location on the Win7 machine.
    For other address books.
    * In XP Thunderbird
    * select 'Address Book'
    * select the name of the address book
    * Tools > Export
    * choose where to save
    * give suitable filename
    * Save as type: comma separated .csv or LDIF
    * Copy that file to desktop of new Win7 computer.
    Then in Win7 Thunderbird Address Book
    * Tools > Import
    * Choose the saved address book and click on Open.
    '''If you want to migrate the entire Profile:'''
    This can be done manually or using a tool called MozBackup. See info at this link:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Move_to_a_new_PC
    When manually copy pasting files, I presume you have installed Thunderbird on new win7 machine and allowed it to run for the first time to create a Profile, but did not choose to create any existing accounts. So you have a Profile, but no mail accounts except for the default Local Folders.
    The files you need to copy are:
    * In XP Thunderbird, 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
    * click on 'Show folder'
    * close Thunderbird now.
    This shows you all the files '''in''' your Profile folder. These are the files you need to copy and paste into the new Profile folder in Thunderbird on Win7 machine, overwriting the default created files.
    now open Thunderbird.

  • Firefox will not start and open a website from a Thunderbird email link. It will go to a link from Thunderbird once Firefox is open, but will not initially start Firefox and proceed to open the Thunderbird email link.

    Firefox will not ''start'' and open a website from a Thunderbird email link. A link from Thunderbird will open once Firefox is ''already'' started, but will not initially start Firefox and proceed to open the Thunderbird email link.

    I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
    When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.
    To the best of my knowledge, this problem started with the new update to Ver. 3.6.9. I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005

  • Often, Firefox app will close, but the underlying Windows process will not and cannot be stopped via Task Manager. When this happens, Firefox can no longer be used...the system must be rebooted.

    Hello,
    Often, the Firefox app will close, but the underlying Windows process will not and cannot be stopped via Task Manager. When this happens, Firefox can no longer be used...the system must be rebooted. This happens especially when many apps are running but even though there are plenty of memory resources available.
    I have tried to find if something is using Firefox in the background, but have no way to know what that would be.
    Their are no apparent viruses detected.
    Firefox is version v5.0 and occurred in earlier release.
    System is Windows 7 (64bit).

    well, it's not the same hardware and it's a bit different.
    I managed to pass that stage somehow but I still have a problem
    I don't use the built-in creator tool that comes with Spyrus as it doesn't know how to append a pre-staged media that was created by SCCM that should apply the Windows file system to a second partition and the WinPE to the first partition.
    I managed to do everything. my only problem is that the WTGCreator that comes with SCCM 2012 R2 creates the 350MB partition with FAT32 file system.
    when I boot from the device I get the WinPE, I can choose a task sequence and then it fails when trying to apply the wim file. the error tells me that the 350MB partition is FAT32 which is not supported (even though it chooses the second partition, which
    is all the rest of the disk space)
    what I did was adding another task that converts the 32 Fat partition to an NTFS partition and then the process continues and finishes successfully! but that's a workaround.
    I'm trying to make this process as smooth as possible without having additional steps

  • Install Adobe Download plug-in after re-start and Firefox don't come screen, but it work , i see in task manager screen firefox.exe

    Today when i surf see "Adobe Reader 9.4 update" and i want download it, Adobe web page want install my firefox one extension... and i accept, after installation it need re-start Firefox... and i accept. After closing Firefox don't run again. Later i check "Windows Task Manager" and i see firefox.exe is there,it's work but on my screen not visible. What is this problem and how can i repair it ?

    First make sure that the firefox.exe process is not running, then try creating a new profile. Firefox stores user data in a profile folder, creating a new profile will show if the problem is with the old profile. For how to do that see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows creating a new Firefox profile on Windows].
    If the new profile works, you can copy selected data such as bookmarks and passwords to the new profile. For details see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox transferring data to a new profile]. Do not copy the preferences file, and it is best to re-install any add-ons.

    Thanks for your help. I had tried starting Firefox in safe-mode before I posted this request, but it did not work. I tried to restore the system to an earlier version, but that made everything worse. Two accounts were unusable and one sort of worked, so I reloaded the operating system and now firefox works, for how long, I don't know. But thanks again for your suggestion.

  • My firefox isn't starting and I've tried changing the profile manager but that wouldn't open either even when I closed it out on the task manager

    I've followed all the steps in the "Firefox will not start" and it is still not working :(

    I'm also having this problem. The firefox.exe ins't even shown in my processes, but the profile manager still won't open. Neither will firefox internet. So far I've been going in circles trying to figure it out and nothing is working. I don't want to start deleting things (the profile, extentions), but I don't know what else to do.

  • Why does my Firefox no longer start and open ?

    I have run Mozilla Firefox on my Windows PC for years with no problem. Now, when I click on the desktop icon, nothing happens.
    The .exe file is in the same location, nothing has changed but it just will not start and run
    I am having to use this iPad to send this message
    I hope you have a solution !

    Thanks.
    The next day, without doing anything, it worked normally again.
    Great relief!

  • I am using oracle Apps ERP in firefox wherein there is a Java Plugin , This is working fine in 3.5 version but as soon as i am upgrading to the latest version oracle is not working and firefox crashes. I can't upgrade even though i wish to

    We are using Oracle ERP in our company which is a web based ERP system. I am using firefox to work in ERP for convinieince pf working and using internet at the same time. This requires a plugin provided by oracle oajinit.exe to be installed in Plugins it is a JAVA plugin which opens the ERP Screens. This works fine in versions prior to 3.6 version of firefox. However, after upgrading to 3.6 version the forms do not open and firefox crashes. Due to this i am not able to upgrade to the latest version else i'll have to operate the ERP in internet explorer and using firefox for browsing which i do not want. The plugin used for the ERP is "* JInitiator 1.3.1.18 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)"

    Firefox 3.6 needs the Java Second Generation Plugin which comes with newer versions than 1.6.0_03 - update Java, the latest version is 1.6.0_22

  • I just updated to 4.0.1 and I get the "We're sorry. Firefox had a problem and crashed. We will try to open your tabs/windows when Firefox restarts" However, it just keeps popping back up, firefox never restarts!!!

    This morning I had a popup on my Windows XP PC stating that the 4.0.1 update was available. I upgraded. now, i receive the following error: We're sorry. Firefox had a problem and crashed. We will try to open your tabs/windows when Firefox restarts. You can submit crash report data, blah blah blah (which i have submitted several)
    But, firefox DOES NOT ever open. It just pops back up with that same report window, over and over.

    It is possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).
