Firefox will not start at all ... not even profile mananger will start

After an auto overnight reboot initiated by a Windows update (XP 5.1 SP3) Firefox will not start at all ... not even Profile Manager ... all that happens is a few seconds of hourglass on the cursor and then nothing ... this is happening on two different computers at the same time ... identical symptoms ... any advice?

I had the problem after I restarted the computer when Firefox indicated that was needed to install updates. After that every attempt to start Firefox resulted in no response at all. I went to my program list and found Firefox Safe Mode. That started OK. I then closed it. After that Firefox started OK.

The fact it will not uninstall appears to be something completely new as nobody I know who uses Firefox has ever encountered this in the past.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Firfox Does not open at all not even Profile Manager.

Ok so as of i believ yesterday, Firefox does not open. I can click on the Firefox icon a million times and in my taskmanager it will show all the instances of firefox running, however, it does not open and i am forced to use IE (which i hate). I have looked through the trouble shooting guide and was recommended to create a new profile, and when i try to open the profile manager, it does the same thing, shows up in task manager but does not open the Profile Manager.
Now i have uninstalled Firefox TWICE and even selected the checkmark which deleted all the setting and bookmarks the second time to see if that helped. But it does the same thing.
Please HELP ME!! i can't express how mucvh i hate IE and will die if i have to continue using it. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!

G'day. I'm visiting on my Firefox browser - Yay. Thought I'd update this. After I wrote this last night, (with IE browser) the confirmation e-mail's link wouldn't even work.
I deleted the offending program. I used CC Cleaner to run through the computer. Still no go. I went to bed with AVG scanning everything.
I woke to find AVG had done it's work, finding 2 problems and fixed. Still no access to mozilla.
I shut down whole computer (intending to start in safe mode). Got distracted and missed the bootup prompt. Logged on anyway, so I'd have something to tell the 'help' line here.
Woo hoo! I must have done something right, because here I am, via the link in last night's email.
The offending program was via 'Ancestry . com'. I'm off to tell them now.

The solution is easy.
Install "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" free edition and use it. This program found malware in your pc. After that clean this malware. Finally instal Firefox again and enyoy it because this installation is correct and clean. Regards.

I downloaded "MFInstall.exe" to view image. Firefox 'restarted' as per instructions - and now f/fox does not open at all - not even in safe mode.

I was on a genealogy site using Firefox. I was asked to download and install " MFInstall.exe " which I did. The final instructions were: Firefox will restart and you will be able to continue.
Firefox closed (two windows), and will not open. I have access on quicklaunch (Vista) which has no response to clicking.
I still have the icon in the start menu - right=clicking at first gave me the option to 'start in safe mode' (with no response). Now clicking the icon there does not show this anymore.
I tried to 'run as admin' with no reponse.
I have found the MFInstall. exe file in my download folder. I will delete it if you think that will help.
I have CC cleaner which doesn't find it when I ask (I guess 'cause it's inside F/Fox?)
If you have any ideas, I would be most grateful. Thanks.

Cursor will not stay in address bar even once I've started typing

When I initially start FF I am able to click into the address bar and type a URL without problem. A few minutes later if I open a new tab or try and click into the url bar, the cursor jumps to any available text box on the page and refuses to stay in the url bar. Sometimes I manage to write the first letter in the bar then the cursor immediately jumps, and continues to happen each time I click back into the bar, so I can never type anything in it. The problem is solved if I restart FF but then starts again at soon after. I've tried disabling all my add-ons/extensions but this hasn't worked. I'm using FF 12 on a MacBook Pro. Any help appreciated, thanks.

There have been many threads about where the cursor should be after opening a new tab to the new tab page. Many users complained that after Firefox 17, instead of the cursor moving to the Google search box, it stayed in the address bar (e.g., [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/945511 Cursor focus is changed to address bar instead of google search box on new tabs in FF 17]). Recently a user complained about the opposite starting in Firefox 23 ([https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/969927 Firefox update 23.0.1, no longer automatically highlights the address bar content when I open a new tab]).
One complication is that "new tab" add-ons often have a feature to change Firefox's normal behavior and it's easy to forget about them and sometimes difficult to understand the description. In NewTabURL, look at the last checkbox in its options dialog.
I could go on, but if you could clarify the scenario a bit more, I think that would be more efficient.

The contacts that belong to your exchange accounts and your Google account will not sync with iCloud. If you want to sync these contacts with iCloud, you would need to copy them to the iCloud account and then disable contact syncing with these other accounts. (If you didn't disable contacts syncing with these accounts, you would see duplicates of these contacts on your phone -- one from the external account, and one from iCloud.) If you want to do this, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup. (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your other accounts you will need the “Pro” version.) Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. Confirm that you have received the email before proceeding to step 3.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and confirm that this is set to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your each of your exchange accounts (if you have more than one listed) as well as your Gmail/Google account and turn off contacts syncing with these accounts. This will remove the contacts from these accounts from your phone.

I restored it to factory settings, and when I tried to restore from backup, On every computer I recieved an error stating that it could not restore because the backup could not be saved onto the computer. The factory settings phone works fine, but the backlight will not work 99% of the time (except random sporaddic moments that last a milisecond). It is getting extremely annoying, and I have lost all contacts, over 10,000 pictures, meaningful texts, recordings of songs that I worte, My whole calendar for college, and most importantly, a voice recording of my now-deceased mither telling me she loves me. I just got one of the new iMac. following the on screen instructions to do migration assist. I guess it connected via wifi to my old iMac. now it seems to have stopped. what can I do to not mess it all up? how long will it take on wifi?

CMS crashes and WIRS won't start up all the times, sometimes few will start

Hi CMS is crashing with a lot of core dumps.
In the /var/log/messages I see a lot fo segfault. The situation is on almost all of our environments. Out ITG was copied from the XI R2 SP$ by doing CMS db copy ( ITG is SP3 XI 3.1 linux EL5.1). From ITG to our three prod environments we have done 3x to 3x cms copy. What could be wrong? it was all fine till we had Sp2/8, the problems started with SP3 patching.

WIRS servers goes to FAILED status or go stopped. few of them I can't even start at times but will work other times.

was happening due to WIRS crashing.
resolved with update the placeholders on webi processing services, was a known issue.

Help Acrobat Pro XI will only print to "all files" even though printers show up in box

I have acrobat pro XI and now even though my functioning printer(s) show up in the box where you chose the printer you want to use, matter what i chose it always tries to save the print job as an"all files" format. The printers are fine they work with everything else. It is strange no matter what I pick all it wants to do is save as an "all files" file. Anyone have any ideas??

Notes application repeating all notes, & has icloud error

Happens constantly. I then have to manually delete each repeated note.
Notes also frequently tosses up a iCloud connection errors.
Notes on my iPhone and iPad do seem to work correctly.

Nobody knows this error? I can switch of the iCloud settings on the devices, but i have fear too loose my data on the cloud, and on the local pc. What can i do for recofigure the cloud without risk of loosing data?
