Firefox will not start,no msg.I am now running with I E. clsosed ok.

Nothing happens no msg,no errors.Checked task mngr.Firefox was active and i closed it.It came up ok,the next morning it happened again,checked TM but fire fox was not active.I tried to uninstall 8.0 and install again.I get a msg to close Firefox before i continue but it is not running.I am trying all this while running in Internet explorer. This is going on for 3 days,when i finally get Fire running i think my problems r over,but the next morning it happens again.Sometime restarting works but not always,i did not force shutdown.HELP..I luv using Firefox...THANXXX

I tried to follow the instructions but deleted the wrong files. I was able to bring FF back up but everything was gone.Talk about a fresh start,I am now in the process of adding back my favorites,toolbar..etc.
I do appreciate the help,next time I'll try to be a lot more careful.

Last time (a few weeks ago) I had to uninstall firefox and reinstall it. Today I moved the last version to the trash and reinstalled the new version, but it still won't work. Same issue - however firefox will open but I can not click on only of my tool bar shortcuts - the writing on the google age is greyed out so I can not click on anything. Still no resolution? I have deleted the folders and re-installed - it will open and then locks and it will not work????

I am using FF v3.6.3 on a Windows 7 box. I tried uninstalling 3.6.3 and installing 3.0.18 and had the same problem!

Firefox will not start at all

New versions of Firefox will not start and only bring up the crash reporter. I've tried starting in safe mode, I've deleted/created new Profiles and I've uninstalled/installed Firefox over and over. I can still download 28.0 and it has no problem opening. Below is the latest Crash ID from 35.0

For a few months now Firefox will not start after I reboot my computer. In order to get it to start I click the exe then must go into task manager kill it, click the exe again, kill it again then, from there it will typically start, but sometimes it may take one or two more trys. When clicking the exe firefox will appear in the task manager under processes but will will start with ~7% CPU usage, then quickly drop to zero every time until it does actually open and start. I have ran a full system recovery and started anew after reinstalling mozilla several times failed to fix the problem. I run virus and spyware checks often and come up clean, and also run Chrome as a default browser.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.

It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Thanks jschaer2000: after starting it once in safe mode, I closed Mozilla and tried several restarts in normal mode. So far, all worked:-)

Still the automatic update process bothers me: it took me several days to discover the reason to the malfunction, since when I removed the problematic version from Add and Remove Programs, I didn't pay attention at first that it was another version, not v26 which I installed from my folder.
In addition, I like to save the installation files before I run new programs and if I didn't have v26 exe file, I couldn't have operated Mozilla at all. Not that it was fun to remove and install again each time v27 didn't react, but it was better than nothing, I still prefer Mozilla over its competition.
