Firefox will not start, the error message says it has been removed from my system - although I didn't take it off.

Firefox worked fine for me last night, today when I tried to open it the error message read that windows could not find the file and firefox was probably removed from my system, thus why it wouldn't work. I tried running the program and starting a new profile, but no firefox files seem to be left.

If you can't start up and log in in the usual way, try in safe mode.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Log in as an administrator to carry out these instructions. If you have only one account, you are the administrator.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode.
If you're able to log in, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.

  • IPhoto will not open. Error message says I must upgrade. But APP store says it is already installed?

iPhoto will not open. Error message says I must upgrade but the AppStore indicates that the newest version of iPhoto is installed so how can I upgrade and why did it stop working in the first place? What is the problem?

Hi Terence. I solved my problem. Apparently a 9.5.1 version of iPhoto was dowloaded, backed up on Ext Drive then deleted from the Mac HD...Leaving the old version 9.4.3 still resident on the Mac HD.
    Thanks for responding.

Accidentally copied microsoft word icon  to desk top.   Now program will not work. Error message says cannot be opened because of problem. How do I re-install ?

Drag the Word icon back to where it belongs.
Applications > Microsoft Office 2011 > Put Word there.
I'm assuming you have Office 2011. If you have 2008 there should be a similar location to put Word.

  • The Product Recovery function has been removed from this system

I get the following error when I try full system restore - "The Product Recovery function has been reomed from this system"?
    How can I fix this?

    welcome to the forum:
Have you made a recovery media before this problem occured??? if you haven't you may need to call Lenovo and ask for a set of recovery disks, or just use your own XP/Vista OS you got from somewhere, and load it on your machine then enter you own serial number that come with your machine.
Then proceed to download the various softwares and drivers applicable to your machine, the most important that you won't have is the predesktop area, if you think this is unacceptable then call Lenovo and obtain recovery media from them (a nominal handling and service charge of around 50 USD will be charged).

It sounds as you have had iWork09 on your computer. Check that you don't have a iWork09 CD.

  • A few weeks ago my wifi button went "gray".  I couldn't turn it off or on, now it has an error message saying it has been three weeks since it was backed up and I can't turn it off or get rid of the error message.  any suggestions?

Thanks, that got rid of the error message, but my wifi is still off and the button is "grayed out" won't let me turn it on.  The message says "location accuracy is improved when Wi-Fi is turned on".  Can anyone tell me how turn it back on?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Firefox won't open - get error message "this operation has been cancalled due to restrictions in place on this account..."

I can't open firefox - every time I try I get the above error message. This has started after no apparent changes or updates to my system, just a normal shut down. I have tried changing the registry .htm, .html etc. file names and reinstalling as suggested but this doesn't work. The only way I can open firefox is after I have reinstalled it and it automatically launches a browser.
I can open firefox in a new user account which suggests something has changed in the account I usually use but I have no idea what since I have not made any changes myself and can't see anything that would suggest it is blocking firefox from opening. I've run a virus scan and it is coming up clean.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be very grateful for some help.
    Thank you.

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.
This article lists scanning and cleaning tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
To check your Windows registry for policy settings that might affect Firefox or other programs, I suggest consulting a Windows forum or Microsoft's forums. For example:

  • HT3819 How to resolve Remote error message - "This remote has been unregistered from itunes library."

I am getting this error message on my iPhone 4 - "This remote has been unregistered from "my itunes Library. Plese select another library."
This happens whenever I try to use the Remote App with my iTunes Library that is set up with Home Sharing on my iMac and iPhone.
I have updated the OS software on iMac and iPhone, I follow all the directions for both Home Sharing and Remote set-up, I am using the same wi-fi connection, the same Apple ID and password, I have started over by deleteing the Remote App and then downloading it again, going back and putting in the 4-digit code so my iMac will recognize my iPhone, turning off Home Sharing and redoing that -  Something seems to be blocking my iPhone from connecting to my iMac iTunes.
What is the solution? Any new ideas?

I had this problem too with an iPhone 5, but resolved it.  This is what worked for me:
I turned my VPN setting off (in the iPhone, Settings > VPN > toggle On/Off to Off).  After that, I could connect.  I'm not sure what will happen if and when I need to use a VPN, but for now I'm OK.
Before that, I did the following, but am not sure it mattered:
I downloaded and installed iTunes 11, unregistered all remotes (in iTunes: Preferences > Devices > Forget All Remotes), in the iPhone, invoked the Remote app and turned on Home Sharing.  During this process I rebooted my computer and the iPhone a couple of times, but am not sure that mattered either.

  • Firefox does not start. constant error message: firefox.exe-bad image

The complete error message: The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\xul.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette. What doe this message mean? How can this problem be fixed?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
