Firefox window size differ from GoLive 'preview in browser.'

When I set up my site, all catagory pages was set to the correct size in the head actions resize window. When I download my site in Firefox the windows are smaller and are cut off at the bottom and right side. What gives?

  • Dual Screen Setup Screws Up Default Firefox Window Size

Unfortunately it's impossible to reply to this thread: [https://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=365472&forumId=1]
although the problem described there isn't solved at all.
    Quote from the OP:
''"Firefox is only checking the resolution of the primary monitor when it is opened or when a new window is opened. This is not an issue if both monitors are the same resolution or if the primary monitor is set to a higher resolution than the secondary monitor. But, as in my case, if the primary monitor is set to a lower resolution than the secondary monitor, Firefox will resize any new window that is larger than the resolution of the primary monitor down to size of the primary monitor."''
Personally, I have been using MSIE 6.0 until it became unusable since any major site stopped supporting it. Now, instead of upgrading to 7.x or 8.x, I chose to install Firefox ... and the first thing that this "state of the art browser" is giving to me as a welcome present is the insight, that it is even too dumb to remember its actual default window size!
Although stored correctly in ''localstore.rdf'' (height="1170") this friggin bastard resizes to 994px height on every startup and refuses to accept the fact that the screen it opens on has a height of 1200px. Something the good old MSIE didn't have any problems with to recognize!
Conclusion of > 1 hour online research: no solution available.
Well done, Mozilla, brilliant job :\

The only solution (well, it's not really a solution, it's a miserable workaround) was to exchange the assingment of the primary and the scondary display, including all the negative side effects you can imagine.
Hopefully Firefox will gain a higher grade of intelligence one day.

  • How to stop Firefox windows stealing focus from other Firefox windows?

I am using Firefox 26.0 on Windows 7 and tend to brows using multiple windows instead of tabs. Frequently when I click on a link in one window, the new page will begin to load and suddenly a firefox window that is in the back ground pops to the front, stealing the focus from the window I had been browsing in.
There is no consistent pattern as to which websites or pages are loaded into the background windows that suddenly decide to steal focus. Likewise there is no pattern as to which links or actions I use that seem to cause this to happen.
Is this a known issue? It is driving me absolutely nuts!

It could be a bug in the Flash Player plugin, caused by the protected mode feature. This thread has the background on that and known workarounds: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash].

  • Is it possible to pre-set firefox window size?

under windows, one can add a short java script to the line that opens firefox to pre-set window size.

Once you set the size of the window in Firefox it should open that size. No need for scripts. Issues with Firefox should be directed to that vendor.

  • My Firefox windows keep jumping from one to another

When I open a new Firefox window, after some time if I have another firefox window (not tab) open, for some reason my computer will jump from one I am currently using to the inactive one, although it still shows it as being inactive unless you click on it.
Firefox also jumps to Word or other such documents. Again this has only happened since downloading Firefox 12 (after upgrading from a brief period with Firefox 11 as well, where it also happened, but not earlier versions).

as you've described the issue it sounds more like a general external issue on your os and not related to firefox.
you might want to do a deep scan for viruses/malware on your system & have a look at this suggestion: [http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp/ht/stealingfocus02.htm]

The print driver is rather literal in applying your format. The second box is over-writing the first. If you reverse the order you call the boxes in they'll print okay.

  • Unabel to get EARTHLINK to Accept FIREFOX as Home page from their Eearthlink TotalAccess Browser. Is is NON-COMPATIBLE? Or what?

I have EARTHLINK TotalAccess. Their MENU selection allows for "click ons" to WEB, EMAIL, PROTECTION, and TOOLBOX.
I am "UNABLE" to link my default browser (Firefox) to the Earthlink MENU entitled WEB. (I always get Internet Explore - which I don't want.
Does Eathlink REFUSE (or reject) FIREFOX?

Have you tried Earthlink support for help with their software? <br />
    http://support.earthlink.net/ <br />
The only thing that I come up with when searching Earthlink support for EARTHLINK TotalAccess, is answers concerning '''email''', which doesn't involve as web browser like Firefox. I wonder if TotalAccess is just for email?
Unless there is another Earthlink user around here, who knows about that software, you may not get an answer here.

  • Taskbar previews are not shown when there are more than 20 tabs across all Firefox windows unless tabs are in groups.

System details: Windows 8.1, Firefox 34.0.5.
Until today, I have not used the Tab Groups function. Today I just used it in troubleshooting this issue.
I noticed that when I have lots of Firefox windows open, I can't see taskbar previews for all the open tabs. The taskbar previews only show the active tab for any specific Firefox window. After some investigation I found that if I have 20 or fewer tabs open (in one Firefox window or across multiple Firefox windows) I can see taskbar previews for all the tabs. More than 20 tabs and the taskbar previews change to show only the active tab for each Firefox window.
After a little more investigation I found that I can see more than 20 taskbar tab previews if I use the Tab Groups function. I don't need to actually organize my tabs into groups, just to invoke the Tab Group function in each window. Trouble is, the tab groups do not survive after closing Firefox. I think this is probably because of an extension I use called Session Manager. Since I am not ready to give up the extension, I wonder if I can change the taskbar preview behavior to show more than 20 tab previews in the taskbar without using the tab groups function.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am not entirely sure, but this menu should change that preview in your OS:
Control Panel > Taskbar > Taskbar Properties > Jump Lists change the number from 10 to the number of tabs
If it doesn't please see Windows support for help.

  • Will only remember certain window sizes

Firefox 31 will only remember certain window sizes, only the page when the browser is first opened. Every page after that has to be enlarged. This always seems to be a problem with Firefox, why can't I have it remember my default window size?
    Running Windows 8.1 Pro 64

I use Freemake Video Converter and this gives an option to deliver straight to I-Tunes. Vids appears under Films . So far for some reason I have managed to download lots of stuff from YouTube witout issue with the exception on 1 video from the band Within Temptation, however, a further 10 have downloaded perfectly from the same band. Can only assume there may be a corruption somewhere, although it was an Official Video by Vevo.

    Hi,

#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • HOW DO I GET BROWSERLAB TO APPEAR IN "PREVIEW IN BROWSER"?

I HAD TO RE-INSTALL  DREAMWEAVER.  THE BROWSER LAB DISAPPEARED FROM THE "PREVIEW IN BROWSER" OPTION. I RE-DOWNLOADED THE PREFERENCE EXTENSIONS.  I CAN ACCESS THE ADOBE BROWSER LAB FROM SAFARI, BUT NOT FROM WITHIN DREAMWEAVER. SUGGESTIONS?

Are you using Dreamweaver CS4 or CS5? If you're using CS5, please make sure everything is up to date by going to Help->Updates...
If you're using CS4, make sure to download the latest extensions from here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?searchfield=BrowserLab   &search_exchange=&num=25&startnum=1&event=search&sort=0&interim_dummy_  tmpfield=&Submit=
Once you're sure you're all up to date, I think you should see the Preview in Browser option. But if you don't, you should be able to go to Window->Extensions and select the Adobe BrowserLab option which should make the BrowserLab panel appear inside Dreamweaver. From there you can choose Local or Network previews and click the Preview button to view your screenshots in BrowserLab.
Please let us know if this works for you. Thanks,
    Mark
