Firefox won't acknowledge cookies

I keep running into the problem of google crashes, then when I try to get back into my gmail I am told that I am not set to accept 3rd-party cookies.
Naturally I hunted this down (don't make it easy, do you? Most have it right up front, not buried in irrelavencies) - they are set to accept all 3rd party cookies until they expire - thus the quoted problem does not exist.
firefox 3.6.15
windows xp

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can also check if DOM storage is enabled.

  • Yahoo mail login says Firefox won't accept cookies but my option is too accept cookies - so what's wrong?

My wife and I can't log into our Yahoo e-mail accounts (or, I guess, our Yahoo account). Whenever we try, we get the message: "The browser you're using refuses to sign in (cookies rejected)".
However, my cookies setting in Firefox is: 1) accept cookies 2) accept third-party cookies 3) keep cookies until they expire.
A few days ago I did change the cookie settings to 1) accept cookies from sites 2) do not accept cookies from sites 3) ask me every time. I also deleted a lot of cookies I didn't recognize or didn't want. I did this because I was (and still am) having trouble with a re-direction virus.
So if anyone has any suggestions as to what needs to be done to make Yahoo e-mail accessible again I would very much appreciate their advice.
I thank everyone for their advice in advance.
    Thanks a million.

Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
*Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with a left click.
    OR
*Press ''Ctrl'' + ''F5'' or ''Ctrl'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Windows and Linux)
    *Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)
Let us know if this solves the issues you are having.

  • Firefox won't delete cookies even after set to clear cookies on firefox exit

I have use custom settings for remembering history in firefox.
I set to clear history on firefox close. Under this settings, I set to clear cookies, active login and cache. But whenever firefox exits it doesn't remove cookies.
Also, I set to keep cookies till firefox closes. Still the cookies appears.
This is a big security issue for me..When I click restore previous session, firefox restores the login into sites also which I don't want

    Got It!!!
Go To: Firefox/Tools/Options/Privacy/Tracking Checked box/Tell websites I do not want to be tracked/ History Firefox will: Never Remember History/ You may also want to: clear all current history/ Clear now/ click OK, ---> got it, that is your answer.<-- (Right click the left image below to open in a new tab)
And it is my answer as well, as I was confounded with this problem for some time. Now after you do this close your Firefox browser, and open back up Firefox browser, and there will be maybe only one or two cookies, depending on your browsers' home page.
I tried other methods to get rid of persistent cookies that would not delete by, CookieKiller, and TACO Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out, those did not help, and I tried the methods listed on these links but they did not work:http://webdevwonders.com/clear-dom-storage/
Also this method did not work:http://justplainobvious.blogspot.com/2009/03/firefox-wont-delete-cookies.html
Next to make your Firefox browsing possible, go to/Firefox/Tools/Options/Privacy/,Tracking Checked box/Tell websites I do not want to be tracked, History Firefox will: Use custom settings for history, unchecked box Always use private browsing mode, unchecked box Remember my browsing history, unchecked box Remember download history, unchecked box Remember search and form history, checked box Accept cookies from sites, checked box Accept third party cookies, Keep until: I close Firefox, checked box clear history when Firefox closes, /settings all nine boxes checked/ click --->OK! (Right click the right image below to open in a new tab)
    All Cookies are gone/history/deleted.

  • Firefox won't remember cookies--I can't login anywhere...

Hello, I am having a unique and odd problem. FIrst, yes, I've verified that I've checked to "Accept cookies from sites to enable Cookies," but it doesn't seem to matter. Suddenly no site (using my laptop version of FF 3.6.1.) will take my passwords. They are valid. I can boot up my desktop (same version) and everything is fine. I was in a private browsing session. Things seemed fine. I came out of it. Things seemed fine. I rebooted--and I can't logon to a variety of sites, including Y-mail. Facebook works for some reason. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Can you drag links (e.g. bookmark or history items) in one of the slots?
    Are you keeping history?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never Remember History).

*Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

  • Firefox won't load google image search results

Firefox won't load google search results. It will load the page of results with the thumbnails etc. but if you click any of them, just a loading spinning icon appears on the tab and it never loads.
    I have tried:
Both logged in and out of google account,
All other areas of google work with no problems (news, shopping etc.),
Site working perfectly in Internet Explorer,
    Running firefox in safemode,
Manually disabling all plugins and addons,
    Clearing the cache and cookies,
Opening results in new tab just results in white page with web address but it never loads,
Restarting both my PC and router.
It's not been working for at least the past 6 hours. Last time I used it was about a week ago and it was working fine then. I've not noticed any problems on any other sites this week that I can recall.

Updating firefox to version 17.0 appears to have solved this.

  • I have windows 8.1 and firefox won't play youtube videos but IE will

I have windows 8.1 and firefox won't play youtube videos but IE will. I have tried reinstalling firefox, flash, java. Resetting firefox don't help, disabled hardware acceleration, protected mode 0 in the mms.cfg file. Nothing will play on youtube in firefox. It says "an error has occured, please try again later". The ads play fine though. Everything plays fine in IE. I have tried different versions of flash also with no luck. I even restored the system to a previous iso image with no luck. Does anyone have a solution?

I get an Invalid Certificate notice when I try to access my https site for my printer. The serial number is the same as used by another certificate. In IE I was able to proceed to this address, but Firefox won't give me that option

    Hello,
    Thanks for contacting Mozilla Support!
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Firefox won't remember username and password on a certain site. I have the option enabled to remember passwords, and the site is not listed in the exceptions. On my home computer, Firefox DOES remember the password for this specific site. Any suggestions?

This happens on my updated Firefox 4.0 and on the previous version from which I updated.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode Firefox won't fill names and passwords automatically.
    * Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

    need help.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?<br />
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.<br />
Such details are stored in a cookie.<br />
    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * You must allow that cookie (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes

  • Firefox won't remember window size within the window

The size within the window will not remember it's size.
By either using the - / + or "Ctrl" & scroll wheel to change the size within the window...Firefox won't remember and when you go to the next window or link or tab or new page or whatever it goes back to the size it wants to be at (like a default size).
How do we get it to stay the same size for every page?

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.

  • Firefox won't load web pages all the way, what can I do to fix this

I have this problem where firefox won't load any webpages all the way and if I try refreshing the page it shows some of the webpage but not the whole thing....and now it won't load any images either. I have tried everything that i could think of and nothing works. I can't watch anything on youtube or go on facebook and google won't work either.

There seems to be something of a pattern in that those are all secure sites (HTTPS address). Have you noticed any certificate errors recently that you might have solved by adding an exception, or does everything seem normal otherwise?
    Here are the usual things:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

Firefox won't save my browsing history even though the options privacy setting is set to remember history

    * 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
    * 2) Privacy settings<br>(Type '''about:preferences#privacy'''<enter> in the address bar.)
    * 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.

  • Firefox won't start in any form

I have never had any real problems with firefox not starting in the past, but today I adjusted my internet settings to allow firefox to delete cookies, cache, etc whenever the program was shut down. After doing that, I went to re-open firefox and it would start up, but always "not respond". After 2 or 3 attempts of this with the same result, I restarted my computer and now Firefox will not start at all. The hour glass will pop up for a few seconds, then disappear. The firefox window will not open, but it shows up in the process' list in Win. 7's task manager.
    things I have done:
Ran Malware check's using 4 different programs (malware bytes, hitman, etc)
    Ran rootchecker
    Ran my norten antivirus.
Everything that was found (not allot) was removed.
The Firefox window Does NOT open at all
I cannot open Firefox's "Safe" mode
Firefox will not open in Window's safe mode
I have un-installed and done a clean re-install, and the problem is still there.
Can someone please help, as I have a few hundred bookmarks I can't lose, and I hate using IE, Safari, Chrome, etc.

    Hello,
Please see the 'Firefox Previously Worked' section of the support article below.
[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-wont-start-find-solutions#w_firefox-previously-worked Firefox won't start] (previously worked).
You need to use the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Profile Manager] to create a new profile. This should allow Firefox to open. You can then migrate your bookmarks, personal data etc across to the new profile.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if not.

  • Firefox won't even open now that I've installed Snagit - what can I do to fix this?

Today I bought and downloaded Snagit (TechSmith) for Macintosh. When the program was being installed it asked me if I wanted a nifty Firefox extension installed. I stupidly (as it turns out) agreed! Now, Firefox won't even open. I've tried restarting the computer and still no luck. How can I diagnose the problem with Firefox? (I know that I could just download Firefox again but I don't want to lose my many bookmarks etc.)
I opened the file in the Firefox Application folder that gives crash information and it mentioned Error Code 1?

  • After reboot firefox won't start. runs in task manager, but won't pop up. reset, safe mode and uninstall/re-install won't help. ok if no reboot.

win7 Pro. has been running firefox ok. but lately with 25 and now 26, the firefox won't start. I can see firefox is running in task manager. but it just won't pop up.
if I download it again and install it, it will run, but every time I reboot the system, it just won't run again.
try: reset, safe mode, uninstall & reinstall, new/clean profile, none of those work.

There may be a corrupted file on Firefox.<br>
Please attempt to perform a clean reinstall. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-clean-reinstall (More Details)] This is different than a regular uninstall.
If a clean reinstall does not fix the issue, please try starting your operating system in safe mode.<br>
To do so, please do the following:
#Ensure that your computer is shut down completely
    #Press the power button
#Tap the <code>F8</code> key repeatedly before the Windows logo and startup screen is displayed
#Select Safe Mode With Networking for the advanced startup options list
Please report back with the results of both solutions.
