Firefox won't always load pages

For the last week or so, I will be browsing just fine like I always have. But then, when I try to go to a different page, sometimes the page won't load in and Firefox says something like it can't find the page. I'll click both Reload and Try Again several times and after a while, the page will come in normally. I don't know what's causing this but it's really annoying. It's not really one specific site. It was happening so I updated Firefox. But it still happened. So, I got the newest version of Firefox and it still happens.

Make sure that ZoneAlarm isn't blocking Firefox from closing properly.

  • Firefox won't start loading pages at random times

Firefox doesn't even start loading websites at random times. About half of the time it works well and loads pages and then it randomly stops loading again. I've tried all the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can but the problem remains. As a coincidence I have a couple of friends with exactly the same problem - we all use Mac. (I wanted to add troubleshooting information but Firefox didn't work.)

  • Flash navigation won't always load page

A web site I'm working on working uses Flash for the
navigation. There's a primary vertical navigation bar and all links
work. There are two vertical menu bars that appear separately when
certain buttons are rolled over on the primary bar. One of the
secondary bars works fine. The second one however is the one
causing me grief...it's a movie clip. When I click on a button, it
opens like an accordion revealing additional links. When any of the
links are clicked, a new web page is supposed to load. Sometimes
the appropriate page loads, sometimes not.
I've used getURL throughout and it works everywhere but in
    that navigation bar.
Every html page has a different flash file. Sometimes when
the html page doesn't load the appropriate page, the proper flash
    navigation appears though.
I've gone over the code for every button on every page and
searched forums, but still can't find what I've done wrong. Any
    help would be appreciated.

I found a fix for this, not only firefox but several other networking programs were broken as well (Outlook and IE were ok for some reason) so I reasoned that the Norton uninstall was incomplete somehow - I had done it from the add/remove programs in the control panel. Sure enough that's not enough to release Norton's tentacles in your system, there's an uninstall tool on their website (a whole set of them actually) that managed to carve it out completely and after a restart everything was back to normal. My machines will definitely be Norton-free from now on ... N

  • Firefox doesn't completely load pages.

It stops loading pages while some images are still not loaded. Refreshing won't help. I have to open each picture one by one so it will cache them. ( I can open each of the images that won't load individually, so it's not a connection issue. The first time I enter an image url in the address bar, it won't load. but it loads with refreshing.) Even after caching them one by one, they disappear after a while and stop loading again). I'm looking for a way to force Firefox to reload images until they're all loaded successfully. This happens in a social site, and the images that won't load are user avatars.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Mac won't open pages in browsers. Chrome and Firefox won't open any pages - Safari will only open a selected few.

I've had some strange browser issues, with Conduit being added to Chrome (which I've tried to remove via the browser settings). Chrome will open my Gmail account but no ther pages. Firefox won't open anything. Safari opens a few pages (this forum thankfully) but is very selective.
Google is returning results to me via Google.es rather than Google.co.uk
I can use all browsers freely on other devices on home network (although Google.es has popped up on my iPhone now). I've run anti-virus software which hasn't picked up any problems. I've tried uninstalling Chrome and Firefox, but am unable to do so.
Any help or guidance would be really, really appreciated.
I'm running the most recent version of Mavericks on  2012 iMac.

    Hi,
First of all click Safari/Reset Safari, next click Safari/Preferences/Extensions and turn off extensions. The re-test
If the problem persists, try using safari in safe mode:
Use this link to see how to do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
If Safari works ok in safe mode, then your problem points to something 3rd party related.

  • Firefox 4 refuses to load pages on my mac os 10.5.8 and brand new laptop as well- i gave to force quit over and over- can i revert to an earlier version? will the problem be fixed soon? - previous versions worked fine

ever since i downloaded the 4.0 version of firefox, it has not worked on either computer[ macs] - earlier versions worked fine. It refuses to load pages and freezes [ on various sites , not just one]so i have to force quit it over and over.

    HI,
Empty the Safari Cache from the Safari Menu Bar more often.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.

  • Every 10-15 minutes Firefox 3.6 cannot load pages (from bookmarks or links) and must be re-started

Every 10-15 minutes I find that clicking a link in a webpage or selecting a bookmark will elicit the white error page message that the target page could not be loaded; usually (but not always) I will be told that my internet connection "does not seem to be working". Other programs accessing the internet are not affected. The problem usually solves itself if I close FF, wait 2 minutes, and start it again, which is not really practical. The problem occurs both on a home network (wireless) and an office network (ethernet). FF3.6 has been problematic since I updated to it (esp.: slow to open); I have tried un-installing and dropping back to 3.5, but FF has twice updated to the most recent version (6.7, then 6.8) without asking whether I wanted this.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I updated to Firefox 3.6

Just an addition: when the connection drops out, the Windows 'error' sound occurs.

  • Firefox won't let most pages and images on common sites like photobucket

    I use a Website everyday:
    furry-paws.com
    It won't load most images.
    I also use:
    photobucket.com
It refuses to load libraries and let me upload any photos.
It also wont load half of the pages I visit.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden "Menu Bar" temporarily.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "<i>Block Images from...</i>" has a check-mark then remove this check-mark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the <b>about:config</b> page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.

  • What are Firefox's timeout for loading pages and images

On a website I'm developing I'm experiencing problems with images occasionally only partially loading. I'm trying to prove the problem is caused by my hosting company's server terminating resource requests prematurely . To this end, I created a test pages that has several very large images embedded. I navigate to the page and see how many images fully load.
However I need to ensure that Firefox is not influencing the test. I.e. firefox is not giving up on the images if they are taking too long to load.
    So my questions are:
    1) What are the various parameters that firefox uses to abandon downloads of images etc? And does it depend on the number of images on the pages, tabs open, number of domains simultaneously accessing, etc
    2) Can I change the settings in about:config so firefox will wait a very long time for resources and only stop when the server stops sending stuff.
    3) Does firefox log anything so I can tell if firefox has given up the server has given up. (I noticed for the bad images, Firebug says "Image corrupt or truncated")
    Thanks.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, maybe after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

  • Firefox processes, renders and loads pages slowly.

Firefox v.29.0.1 loads webpages slowly. When I visit a website it loads information for that page very slowly. (ex. msn.com, irs.gov) There is a small box in the lower left corner stating that it is waiting for----. Then it begins transferring data needed to render the page. Sometimes the page does not render correctly. I have tried resetting FF but that did not work. Is there a setting that was changed when FF updated to v29.

  • Firefox crashes when I load pages with Flash content

Whenever I load a page that uses the Flash player plugin, Firefox crashes. When I disable the plugin, the browser works fine. I am also unable to install version 3.6.6. The update downloads, but when I restart the browser, either says "the partial update could not be applied," and tries to download a larger full version, or, if it has downloaded the full version, upon restart it says that firefox needs to be updated to 3.6.6

I solved the problem by downloading the Firefox 3.6.6 installer and then upgrading manually.. Now everything seems to be working fine again..
