Firefox won't connect to servers despite all troubleshooting measures taken.

Just today I upgraded to FireFox 13.0.1. Now no matter what I try it continuously states that it is unable to connect to the server of whatever site I punch in. I tried every article I could find that might help but still doesn't work. I checked my connection and it's fine and other browsers. I really like FireFox and would hate to have to switch because of this. I'm currently operating on Windows Vista if that makes any difference. Anyone who can maybe help thanks.

You probably tried this article, but just in case: [[Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can]].
Could you try the "Reset" option? This option copies certain of your key settings to a new settings folder (a new Firefox profile). If the new profile doesn't work any better, you can switch back to the original. If it does work, you can either rebuild your add-ons collection, or take that as a sign that your original profile has a problematic add-on or setting yet to be discovered.

  • Firefox will not connect to internet, period; all troubleshooting on my end has been done

Firefox will not connect to any webpage. This is occurring daily and constantly. I have road runner service for internet access. I have done all troubleshooting on my end -- emptying cache, resetting modem, resetting router, etc. I cannot connect to internet. My computer is checked -- Windows troubleshooting, etc. Firefox has also been crashing at least 4-5 times a day on average. Sometimes I have a couple of days free of crashes. Most times, this is becoming infuriating. I have to be on line for work. I have gone through checks and pinging with the internet service through Time Warner Cable. What is going on? It's impossible that every website in the world has a broken server!!!

So you also rebooted your router correct?  Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

  • Firefox won't start. I followed all troubleshooting recommendations i found on this site and still nothing. please help.

Firefox worked on this computer in the past. Now, Firefox wont start.
    1. I deleted everything off this computer including the profile and all files under
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
    2. I deleted my profile here:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
    3. I uninstalled the program, deleted all cookies, temporary internet files etc. I restarted my computer.
When I reinstalled it, it still doesn't open.
When I ctrl+Alt+del I see the process (not application) is running, but nothing appears on the streen
    Please help!!!
win 7, plenty of ram, plenty of disk space, high speed internet

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Firefox won't connect to web or even home router. It was preinstalled and started in safe mode didn't change nothing. Other browsers work good.

  • After updating, Firefox won't connect to the internet. All websites timeout. Internet explorer works fine.

I started up my computer and opened up firefox. A box popped up that said firefox was updating. After updating was complete, firefox attempted to connect to my homepage, yahoo, but the connection timed out. I tried connecting to other websites and they also timed out. My internet connection is good because internet explorer works fine.

Common cause after upgrading/updating is that your security software (firewall) may not recognize the new version and may be blocking Firefox and/or plugin-container. Remove all permissions for Firefox and plugin-container from your firewall's programs permissions list, then start Firefox and go to any website and let it detect and set internet access permissions.

  • Creative Cloud/Adobe Installer won't connect to servers

So, my free trial for Adobe Premiere Pro recently expired so I decided to invest in the program since I have a few school assignments to get done and so I had to go through the process of installing the creator cloud etc. but the thing is, even though I have a working internet connection, have allowed the programs through my firewall, and have tried to restart my computer, and close all programs, etc. none of these installations will go through because they won't connect to the servers/internet.
I would hope that someone could really help me out since I'm short on time.
    Thanks!

  • IPod Touch won't connect or charge AT ALL.

I can't connect my iPod touch to ANY computer AT ALL. This includes Windows Xp, Vista and an iMac with Leopard. They are all running iTunes 7.6.2. I have tried all protocols I've come by so far none have worked. The iPod simply won't connect.
The iPod turns on when it is plugged in but after the home screen comes up nothing happens. No charging, syncing or any type of connection. iTunes and the OS don't acknowledge any type of USB device, even in the Device Manager. Apparently it tries since it powers up when plugged in but thats the extent of the connection. I haven't found any other persons with a scenario like this, please help.

I know you've tried it with other computers, but have you tried it with a different cable? Also have you tried resetting the Touch while it is connected? (Hold down the sleep and go buttons, ignore the power off screen and let go when you see the Apple logo).
If you get the same results after trying this you need to either make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store or send it in for service: http://www.apple.com/support/oss/

  • Ipod touch won't connect to computer at all.

I got a new generation iPod touch for christmas. Updated the iTunes and all that jazz and it worked fine. I probably only plugged it in about 3 times or so because I have a dock that can charge it. (I haven't plugged it into the computer since I put it on the dock so maybe that has something to do with it?)But today I plugged it in and it won't connect to the computer at all. The computer recognizes it because when I plug it in that pop up comes up that says "this device can perform faster if you connect to it a Hi-Speed USB port" but it won't charge or connect to iTunes. But, my other ipod will connect and open iTunes with no problem.
Any ideas? I don't know what else to do and nothing on the support pages fixes my problems so I really need you guys.

nope. i thought about trying to restore it but i'm afraid i'm going to be stuck with a 300 dollar ipod with nothing on it. and i think it's completely stupid that you have to pay for support because i was looking for a number to call but my parents didn't get any coverage when they bought it for me. i don't know if you have it but if you do, try calling and please please pleaseeee let me know. you'd be my savior. haha.

  • Firefox won't connect to internet but IE will!!

I'm using latest edition of Firefox on windows 07 laptop. Two days ago my internet connection slowed significantly (i was only one) for few hours but then things got to normal. My computer updated (windows) last night and when tried to turn on firefox it won't connect or load website pages. First it said errror in my connection, now message says 'the connection has timed out'. I have done everything stated on firefox support (checked proxy - am on college network so it was on auto and I switched it to no proxy - no luck), I checked my firewall (managed by mcafee) and even though windows is not being used on my laptop I added firefox just in case - no luck. I did the other steps on the page - no luck. IE is working fine and at reasonable speed so it's not the connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Edit: don't know if this may help but googlechrome won't work for me either - it opens, and tries to connect to page but never does. . .

For me the problem was McAfee Security Center running on Windows 7. I reset McAfee and Firefox connected again.

  • Firefox won't load any pages at all! I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but no luck. My IE works, but I much prefer Firefox! Help?

Early this morning, my firefox was working perfectly fine. Yet this evening, it won't load any web pages - only IE will. (I hate IE, much prefer FF!)
I tried to uninstall then reinstall firefox, but it didn't help at all. I've tried tons of different sites, but nothing is coming up.
    What do I do?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == This morning ==
    == User Agent ==
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

    ** FIXED **
I had this problem where I work but it was fine on my home pc. When Firefox upgraded, it detected a proxy on my work network and started to use it even though my previous settings were set to no proxy.
Now all my pages load and my 'find updates' for addons work.
    signed,
    Relieved.

  • IPhone won't connect to wifi at all!! Please help.

I have an iPhone 4 and I don't use it as a phone any more but I do use it for downloading songs and stuff of wifi, kinda like an iPod touch but I dropped it in water(not the first time I have done this) and as usual it will come back alive after drying but this time the wifi says no wifi and it is colored light gray.everything els is normal about the phone except I can't get Internet via wifi. Can someone tell me if there is another way to access the Internet with this device or how to fix the wifi? Oh and one more thing, when I go to general and press about I see that the wifi address says N/A so I don't know if I can just get a new address or what.

    "followed all directions"
so you followed ALL the steps described in these articles?
iOS: Connecting to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim - Apple Support
    If so, since it states:
If someone else set up your network, ask them for help. If you’re using a network at a company, school, hotel, store, or other free Wi-Fi location, find an employee for assistance.
If you're connected to a Wi-Fi network but you can’t get online, try to use your Wi-Fi network on other devices. If you can’t get online using your other devices, there might be a service outage. Call your cable company or internet provider for help.
Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network in a different location. If your device can connect, you’ll need to get help with your Wi-Fi network. If it can’t connect to any Wi-Fi networks, contact Apple.
Update your Wi-Fi router with the latest firmware and make sure the router supports your Apple product. For more information, contact the manufacturer of your router.
    Who set the wifi?
what other devices did you try?
what did the internet provider say?
did you try different wifi locations?
Thanks for taking more time to post your problem and for using Apple Support Communies
    Truly yours

    <Edit> : OK great

  • Won't connect to internet at all!

My macbook pro won't connect to the internet at all. It says that it's connected and working fine, but safari nor chrome will open. I tried connecting it with an ethernet cable and still nothing. Does anybody know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Turn off the router. Wait couple of minutes. Turn it back on.
Wait until all the lights are lit up.
    Now relaunch Safari.
    Best.

  • My ipod won't connect to pc at all

My ipod won't connect to pc. I tried on a few computers but windows won't detect the ipod and the ipod does not recharge.
Eventually my ipod ran out of battery and now i cant use it at all, not even as a memory stick because it can't connect to a pc...

so i'd prob have to bring it to a store and have them look at it, correct? also one more thing, if i uninstall my itunes and reinstall it, will all my music still be there or will everything be gone?

  • Firefox won't connect to any website, but other browsers will.

When I enter something in the URL bar -- google.com, localhost, http://127.0.0.1/ an IP address, there's a split second flash, then the bar becomes empty again and nothing has happened. It looks like Firefox isn't even trying to connect to the internet.
Yesterday, all was well when I was running FF on Windows 7. After the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, Firefox failed. I upgraded again to Windows 8.1, hoping for the best, but it's the same problem.
I have walked through the firewall issue, several times (the only one running is Windows' built-in firewall). I eventually uninstalled Firefox, including all my custom settings, and reinstalled from scratch, twice. And even this pure, clean version of Firefox will not connect to the internet.
I'm a computer-literate web developer and would be happy to look at log files, or run some tool (Fiddler?) to see what's happening at a low level, if only I knew where to look.

    MM..,
mm... That just about sums up my thought on reading your question. Rather odd this one. I will list some brief ideas and number them to make them easier to refer to or comment on.
Obviously this does not affect all Firefox 27 on Windows 8. It must be something fairly specific to your setup. I have no idea what your problem is and you have tried some of the obvious troubleshooting steps.
Rather a general shotgun approach but the best I can do is suggest this list
    # Clean Install <br />Presumably you will have tried deleting the program path files in order to get a clean install.<br /> [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox]]_5-reinstall-firefox <br />(See also note about ESR install)
    # Firefox SafeMode will also have been tried <br /> [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] <br />Remembering to disable or uninstall plugins, safemode does not do that.
    # Try a new clean additional test Profile. <br /> [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles#w_creating-a-profile]]_creating-a-profile
    #Windows Safe Mode
    # Install and try Firefox ESR <br /> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
#* As a developer you are probably interested in using that anyhow. <br /> Either a customised install as an additional browser <br /> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions#Installing_multiple_versions <br />Or use the unofficial Firefox portable. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-esr
#* Helps rule out: Firefox code or feature regressions, Corrupted program files
#* Should quickly enable you to see a working Firefox again

    # Is it only network problems ? <br /> Confirm you are you able to open local html files on the same partition ?
    # Firefox's Network Console should throw light on the situation. There is also the Firefox Error Console and Profiler (Profiler is now built in)

  • Firefox won't connect, but IE will, what do I do?

Firefox is not connecting to the internet no matter what wireless system I try. I recieve the basic "Unable to Connect" error message. I can easily access the internet through Internet Explorer though.
    - I Use Windows 7 and have the newest version of Firefox
    - I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox
    - I have set the Proxy to "No Proxy" and I have added Mozilla to my basic Windows Firewall
    - I recovered my computer to when I didn't have this problem, nothing changed
    - I haven't run special virus programs to check for Malware, but I had NoScript, AdBlocker and Ghostry for Firefox
    - This happened after I updated Firefox
    - I know I am not alone in this problem, but the other posts have no helped me
I believe that is all the information (that I can think of) that you will need about this problem. Any efforts are appreciated, and thank you for reading.

The solution for me was that Firefox and PCTools
adds some sneaky garbage. I went into control panel
    add/remove programs and removed:
    # "Browser Defender" (pctools)
    # PCTools "AntiVirus Free"
    # McAfee AntiVirus Free
Restart the computer and it works for me....
