Firefox won't download - insufficient permissions
I can download the latest Firefox installer. When I go to drag the new Firefox icon into the Applications folder, it says that I have insufficient permissions... yet I am on my computer's Admin profile, so it doesn't make any sense.
Help?
TF
Hi TF, and a warm welcome to the forums!
In the Finder, do a Get Info on the Applications folder, what 3 Rights & privileges does it say at the bottom?
You can drag it to your Desktop in the meantime to use it if need be.

Suddenly, Firefox won't download a file from a clickable icon or web address. This seemed to occur after installing HideMyAss. When I click on a download address, or an icon, the page changes, (as opposed to just starting the download) attempts to load (status bar goes to halfway) and then nothing, it just sits there. If I try to download a torrent file, the same thing occurs, although I can download it using option+click. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Doug
Reinstalled FF with new profile to check and it still performed the same problem. Couldn't download files from links sent to me through email program that I use either.
Eventually, after a quick 5 hour reinstall, FF is now working.
Until I figure otherwise, I'd take a pass on Hide My Ass.

Firefox won't download pdf's using iMacros "TAG" command
For work, I automated the downloading of documents (doc, docx, pdf files etc.) using a simple macro in iMacros. I had to use a macro because the nature of the site is - go to the main screen, click a client name link, scroll down and click a link to download the document - then go back to the main screen and repeat. The macro automated this tedious process and WAS working with about 95% success (seems that I can't tell firefox to automatically save a txt file for some reason - but that's another story). Now, all of a sudden, the macro won't download any pdf's. The macro still works fine when the document is a doc or docx or rtf file but when it hits a pdf file, it does nothing - just moves on to the next client. Since the macro works properly with the other file types (again, not txt - but everything else) it's probably not an iMacros issue. The frustrating part is - I can go into the page manually where the pdf file lives - and click on the file - and it works properly - file downloads automatically as it should.
the macro code line is very simple:
TAG POS=1 TYPE=A ATTR=TARGET:_blank
I had to set all my document file types to automatically download (including adobe files) when a link is clicked - which is fine - and like I said - the macro used to work - just stopped downloading pdf's all of a sudden.
Also I disable the adobe plugin - but that didn't work - since I have adobe files set to download automatically it shouldn't make a difference if the plugin is active or not anyway.
Any help appreciated,
ThanksHi,
As a safe test you can try installing [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/imacros-for-firefox/ iMacros] in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile] and check. The [http://forum.iopus.com/viewforum.php?f=11 iMacros support] would also be helpful.

Long story, short version: Problem is a progression from bad to worse. Firefox 33.3 won't download or save files (images, web pages, etc.). File picker doesn't open/ can't browse folders, etc. Tried troubleshooting including: reset firefox, safe mode, new profile, rename profile folder files, reset about:config entries, clean install, etc.- nothing changed. Running Windows XP with all updates installed. Using Avast free, Zonealarm free, etc. Workaround currently using down them all add-on is "ok". Any help is most appreciated.
you are welcome :-)

Firefox won't Download, freezes at 98% completion what do I do?
I have been trying to download Firefox on Windows 8, Firefox would be downloading and get to the point to where it needs 2% more to go and it just FREEZES to the point where It doesn't get to the install stage. please help.
It is possible that anti-virus software is interfering with downloading this file.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

When I go to the Firefox website it says that unfortunately the latest version of Firefox is not compatible with my computer's operating system. How can I get an older compatible version?
* Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
* Install the new version that you have downloaded.

Why won't Firefox won't download?
Why won't Firefox download? It completed the set up stage then stops.
If downloads hang at the last minute (just before reaching 100%), the cause might be antivirus software which tries to scan the file and during that process hangs the Firefox instance.
In order to fix the problem, try disabling the scanning as follows:
# In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
# Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page. A list of settings should appear
# Filter the list by typing in the search bar at the top. Type in ''scanWhenDone''. '''You should now find the "browser.download.scanWhenDone" preference'''.
#Double-click on that preference to set the value to ''false''.
#Next, try to download something and see if it still hangs.
Please reply and tell us whether this helped you! -
Firefox won't download a zip file
There is a chat board that I belong to and they posted a zip file. It looks like a white piece of paper with a folded over corner and says zip on it. When I put my cursor over it, it kind of blows up and then says at the bottom the file name then file.Zip 260K, but I can't click on it to get it to download, save, open, reject, nothing.
I believe I have downloaded zip files in past but for some reason can't download this one.
Can someone help please.

I wasn't familiar with the ModPlugin extension. Does it operate on the site that has the problem? If so, could you test with the extension disabled? You can do that by restarting in Firefox's Safe Mode, or manually on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
If that extension is not relevant to the site that has the problem, or if the problem continues after disabling it, can you provide a link to the site so someone could check it out? -
Firefox won't download on my new Mac and I get no error or direction messages.
I go to the website for free download, select the download command, and nothing happens. The initial installation direction with three illustration windows remains unchanged and I get none of the prompts shown.
Hi bforseth-
There are many places that have Firefox for download, but the best one is here:
[http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/]
Give that one a try and hopefully that will work for you. -

Turn off IPv6:
Enter in the URL address box:
about:config
Click "I'll be careful"
Type ipv6 in the filter box to get to the one and only line that's needed; it'll say network.dns.disableipv6
the default value is "false"; double-click to set the value to "true" (to disable IPv6) -
I've clicked the "Download" link several times and the only thing that apparently happens is a little blue blip zipping toward the upper right corner of the screen. The icon to move into "Applications" never appears.
Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

Since upgrading to Lion OSX Firefox won't download statements or pdfs?
When trying to download end of month statements from Orange or Skype the download is not permitted with a message saying try saving it somewhere else? So i opened everything in Safari and it was OK, but want to work with Firefox as I prefer the tab system and all my saved bookmarks etc. Can anyone suggest a fix? I have latest version of Firefox apparently 7.0.1
Thanks, SarahHi FengShuiSarah-
You might want to check your Options. You can modify how Firefox deals with pdf's and other file types. Here is an article on the [[Options window - Applications panel]]. -
Firefox won't download attachments
I recently updated my operating system to OS X Yosemite.
Since then, Firefox will not allow me to download attachments from my email inbox, or on websites. I see all the downloads and icons listed with the message "Failed" next to each one. I need to resolve this quickly. Thanks for your help.
AnnaHave you tried contacting the service from which you get webmail? It sounds like a problem with a web server.

Firefox won't download an android app
I tried to download an android app. The message said that "the protocol (market) is not associated with any program". I have no idea how to proceed! Thanks
*Does the image display on the list of downloads on about:downloads
*Are there any settings on the device that blocks downloads over wifi or by certain applications?
*Is there room on the device to download the image?
*An example webpage will help further investigate.
If the notifications on Firefox have been turned off in the Android operating system, turn them back on by:
Go to Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications
