Firefox won't install on my computer

I've had firefox installed on my laptop forever. Lately, it's been having trouble updating firefox. I removed the firefox program and then tried to reinstall it on my laptop. I click on the download button and click run but nothing ever happens. I even tried saving the program and same thing. It saves I click on the setup and it still won't download. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hello lynchsta ,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then install Firefox. Please follow these steps:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
Or better yet, download the full setup file here: https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-33.0.2-SSL&os=win&lang=en-US ( I assume that u use windows and language English US ) . For other builds: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
# Before trying to install it, delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].
WARNING:Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your [[Profiles|Firefox profile]] data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]].
Please report back to say if this helped you!
Thank you.

As I am on the early XP, without any Service packs, I want to up-date to SP3. The Microsoft Website won't offer any help. Firefox won't install and I need a prompt to send me in the right direction.
I am using IE version 6.00 and it is refused access to updates because it is so old.
The 'old' Dell runs well but had suffered my bad management one night resulting in the need to re-install XP. It is my second PC and I am running 8.1 on my newer machine, so I can access help topics.

I have both Mozilla Firefox & Internet Explorer installed one my computer, but chose to us Firefox. Several days ago while opening Firefox a screen popped up which said that my Firefox browser was out of date. I clicked on the box, which said free download. This happened several times and now on my desktop I have Firefox Setup 3.6.13, Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe, Firefox Setup 3.6.13(2), Firefox Setup 3.6.13(3), Firefox Setup 3.6.13(3).exe, Firefox Setup 3.6.13(4) and I still keep getting the same pop-up screen for a free download of a newer, speedier, more secure version of Firefox. I tried calling Mozilla Corporation in Mountain View, CA; but was unable to speak with anyone. I also got an 800 number (1-800-229-9895) from information and called that number. On the first 800 call the person hung-up. On the second call I spoke to Marv and supposedly got disconnected. On the third call I spoke to Marv again. He informed me that I couldn’t speak to anyone at Mozilla and had to pay $99 to get any help. He also told me that: if I tried to remove the extra Firefox downloads or tried to remove Firefox completely, my computer would crash. I can’t afford the $99 and don’t know what to do next. Can you help me. Jack (Phone number removed by mod).

As far as I know, Mozilla doesn't have any paid support service. There are lots of other companies that advertise paid support for desktop software including Firefox. Maybe you called one of those other providers??
Anyway, I suggest dragging all those exe files on your desktop to the recycle bin. They are all out of date.
Before upgrading, have you considered making a backup? Your bookmarks and other Firefox settings ''should'' be safe during an upgrade, but better safe than sorry. This article describes how you can back up: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. For example, you can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.
To get the latest Firefox, you can try either of these:
(1) Help > Check for Updates - this should work automatically
(2) Download the installer for Firefox 12 from http://www.mozilla.org/firefox (green button) to a convenient location, then double-click to launch it (Firefox needs to be closed)
After you see Firefox 12, the user interface will look different. For tips on how to restore features you miss from Firefox 3.6, you can ask questions here. • IPod Touch won't install on my computer, works on my brothers perfectly.

My problem is that my iPod won't install on my computer. What happens is that I will connect my iPod and then I get the Hardware installation wizard pop up and it says "An error occurred during the installation of this device. The system can not find the Hardware specified". I'm thinking the problem may be my computer because i tried it on my brother's computer and it works perfectly but on mine which is (Microsoft Windows XP-Windows 7 Viena) It wont work. I've tried restarting, resetting my iPod, putting it in UFC or w.e that is and other options I don't know what else to do please contact me ASAP.
P.S. If I don't click "Finish" on the Hardware Wizard my iPod will sync and connect to iTunes just fine but if I click Finish it will disconnect and the process will start all over again.

I have also tried restarting the iPod and reconnect it again, but still no sign.

itunes 10.2.2 won't install on my computer. I have tried everything in the support list already, removed all apple files, quicktime, itunes(older version) from the software lists. re-starterd computer, new installations, nothing will help. I have an ipad and an ipod but I can't use it anylonger because my computer refused to install itunes 10.2.2. Please help

This procedure might work or might not work:
Uninstall iTunes according to Apple's directions here
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Download the free Ccleaner and repair your Registry
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
Then download/install iTunes again from the Apple website
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Your iTunes content will not be removed,
Please regularly backup your iTunes content to external medium (hard drive, cd/dvd's) using the File>Backup Library in iTunes. Apple will not reissue new copies of content.
(Notice: this post is a copy/paste in a hope that a uninstall/reinstall and repair of your Registry may solve your particular issue, Windows issues are particular difficult to resolve due to multiple factors, so my advice is to be taken into advisement with others recommendations which may be more specific or experienced in resolving your issue. • ITunes won't install on my computer, Windows 7 64 bit.

The computer is current on Windows update. I originally had iTunes installed and it worked fine, but would absolutely NOT update-- it would download the first 25.50 MB, then never finish downloading the rest of it, time out, and give me an error message. I just got an iPhone 5, so I can't connect my iPhone to my computer anyway, because it requires iTunes 10.7 to work.
After restarting and trying a variety of fixes to see if I could get it to work, I decided to uninstall iTunes AND ALL OTHER APPLE PRODUCTS, just to be safe, ran a complete hard drive check on both my main and secondary hard drives to make sure there were no errors, and try installing it again from scratch.
But now, the installer will download, but it won't install anything. If I double-click, or right click and hit Run as Administrator, it pulls up a dialog box briefly, then closes out. It will not run. It does not give an error, it just pops up a dialog box then closes without telling me anything. At all. I've deleted it, redownloaded it, restarted, verified that my computer is up to date at least 5 times, and it never, ever, works.
I just ran across another suggested fix that suggested I extract the files and try installing the individual components separately. When I tried doing that, I got this error message:
! C:\Users\Chloe\Downloads\iTunes64Setup.exe: The archive is corrupt
So. What the **** is going on? I am downloading directly from Apple. If I could download the entire ~300+ MB file directly to see if it would work, I would, but I can't find it anywhere. I am really frustrated with how much time this has taken. Otherwise, my computer runs fine.
I've downloaded iTunes on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, I also tried deleting all cookies and temporary internet files in between installations. I've tried a lot of stuff. This is driving me absolutely bonkers.
Thanks for any help you've got.
I'd be happy to share any other computer information that might be pertinent, just ask.

Hi sahgin,
The issue eventually resolved itself, I still don't really know why. I kept up with Windows update, and attempted downloading iTunes again from the Apple website, and it just... worked. It now works fine. I don't know why it took approximately 4 months to work, though.
I'm sorry I don't have any more helpful information. Posting here was my last resort, and clearly Apple never bothered to reply.

• I have firefox 4 Beta installed on my computer and I can't get the new Firefox 4 to install, so some of the functions don't work, such as dropdowns on Google Toolbar? How can I fix this?

I installed Firefox 4 beta when it was available as a tester before Firefox 4 was released, so I had two versions of Firefox on my computer. When Firefox 4 was released this week, I installed it and it replaced Firefox 3.6.15. For some reason it seems it didn't install the full version of Firefox 4, instead it's a similar version to the Beta version. For example, the drop down on Google search doesn't work when you click on an item in the drop down. Also the orange button that is supposed to replace the buttons on the top left of the browser is not there. It still has the 8 buttons, ie File, Edit, etc. How can I get the full version to install on my computer? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and I get the same result. My computer runs Windows XP Media center Edition OS. Please advise me on how to fix this. Thanks.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
I also have a question. Have you ever been able to access these sites from the Firefox on that computer?

• Firefox won't install on Windows 7 64-bit.

I just installed a new hard drive on my system with Windows 7 64 Bit OS. Same that I used on the old hard drive that crashed. I downloaded the installer, and have tried to run it both with and without administrator permissions (by right clicking on the file). the UAC asks me if I want to proceed, i say yes, I get a flash of some window and then . . . . nothing. I have downloaded a another copy of the executable, with the same results. I am using my laptop to post this.

Firefox is normally pretty simple to install. Look at any security software you have installed is any of that somehow blocking or preventing the change.

• Firefox won't install for all users in Windows 8.1; only installs for administrator

Since moving to Windows 8.1, I have been unable to install Firefox for multiple users on this laptop. Firefox installs only for the Administrator (me), and does not appear on any other user account. When I try installing from one of the other user accounts (after entering my administrator password), it simply won't install.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
* Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
* "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

• Firefox won't install; it says extracting and then completely stops.

So I've tried installing firefox several times on my computer. For some reason IE (32-bit browser) is not longer working but the 64-bit browser is. Flash isn't compatible with the 64- bit browser so I decided to install firefox. However, every time I try I get to the part after the second installation pop-up where you click run, and it says extracting, it gets to 100% then disappears, and nothing happens. It never gets to the installation wizard. I've run spyware scans and registry scans and there does not seem to be a problem. Can anyone help?

After an hour or so of searching the interwebs, I found this:
''Given the security of model of Vista and Windows 7, even though you are logged in as an Administrator, you are NOT given the Administrator token until you elevate. Simply right click the setup.exe and select Run As Administrator, you will be prompted with a Yes and No dialog box. Click the Yes button and you will be able to install Firefox. I have Firefox and Chrome installed without any issues.''
''By default, the Built-In Administrator account is disabled in Vista, Server 2008, and Windows 7.''
This worked for me, it should work for others as well!

Whenever I try to install Firefox Sync, it tells me "You are currently using Firefox 3.0.13," won't install, and suggests that I upgrade. • Photoshop Elements 11 boxed software installed once in Dec. 2012 won't install on new computer. Disk can't be read (tested on 3 different computers). How is that even possible of a meticulously clean, well-protected disk?

Dear Adobe,
I need your help!
On December 12th, 2012 I ordered (purchased) by mail an official copy of the boxed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 software from B&H Photo (New York, NY). I installed it successfully without any problem on my then computer. I have enjoyed using the program since then, it’s great. This past week, however, that same computer died and I was force to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1).
To my big surprise, the Elements disk wouldn’t load off my DVD drive. The drive just kept “clicking” for 20 minutes. After trying several times from reboot, for an hour and a half, I then tried installing it on my laptop, just to see if my drive was faulty. No, it wasn’t. It too immediately went into an endless “clicking” routine trying to read the disk. And for one last try, I put it in my sister’s laptop and she got the very same result - endless “clicking”, no install. No computer could read the disk!!!
How is this even possible from a commercially made disk I used only once in 2012! The disk is meticulously clean, unscratched, unscuffed, put away in its original box and stored on my shelf in a cool place away from the sun!
Serial Number of faulty disk: 1057-4186-6029-0039-1511-3940
Is there anything you can do about this as I see no reason why I should be forced to spend over a $130 (in Canada) to replace a disk that worked only once!
Regards, Andre

I'm thinking my computer is too old for ical. I have an old imac and tried to install ical on it and it says that it can't be installed on this computer. It's an old imac that's an extra computer that I use. I'm running 10.4.11. All my other macs are newer and they work fine. Can someone enlighten me on this? thanks

Use the Mac OS X installation disk to install iCal if it isn't installed for some reason. iCal is bundled with recent Mac OS X versions and the standalone download is only for Mac OS X versions which don't include it.

• How can I get Firefox 26 to install on my computer. Because it won't.

I used to have Firefox 25. I tried to upgrade to version 26, but after I downloaded it and selected launch it went to a screen that said install. I selected that and then it went to a screen that had download on one side and install on the other. When I selected that it started downloading again. The green bar went almost to the end and then stopped. Then the green bar started moving quickly across the bar. After ten plus minutes it said it had been interrupted and I had to start again.it started. After several tries, I removed Firefox 25 from my computer and downloaded version 26. When I tried to install it I got the same runaround I mentioned above. What gives? I have never had this much trouble installing any software ever including version 25. I would like a timely response because I like Firefox and Hate Internet Explorer. Thanks. Ps, since you don't have a phone number a chat experience would work as well. Arthur
